I've been wearing these for 6 months and they have become my go to shoe. They allow my toes to spread out. I have to size up 1/2 size and buy wide. I just wish there were more color and shoe options for wides.

I have been searching for so long for a sneaker that lets my feet spread comfortably! So glad I gave these a try! Very comfortable fit. They do feel low and can feel the trail hazards, but also feels pretty stable. Not as grippy as some other sneakers but performed well on the muddy and wet trails today!

I have a wide toe box and find it hard to find a shoe that I can hike in or wear all day. These shoes are amazing. They fit like a dream, they are comfortable right out of the box. I've worn them hiking around the States and they have never failed me. I love that they are a nice grip but also I can feel the ground beneath the shoe. They are sturdy but flexible. However, they wear out extremely quickly. After one hike, not even a long strenuous hike, you will note fabric fraying. I've put very little use into my current pair and they look like they've seen a lot of action. For the price of these, you would hope they could put more effort into the quality of fabric. I'm not sure I will continue to buy these.

The shoe is definitely 1/2 shoe size smaller than normal. I had to send them back because my toe hit the end.. Also I didn’t like the big knobs on the sole, great shoe for traction in the dirt but I normally just walk 10,000 steps everyday and don’t need that. I will look at the smooth sole Altra’s. The reason I bought this is for the larger toe box and my Podiatrist was wearing a pair and he recommended them. He also said New Balance was good, anything over a 600 and said the 993 were particularly good. Anyway, I really like the larger toe box on these so I’m considering a different model in a 12 instead of my normal 11 1/2.

I walk daily through Fairmount Park, Philadelphia trails. The traction is good, the shapefor the toe box is great. The width of the shoe is a little much. I tie laces tight and still am sliding in them a little.

I love love love these shoes. I am on my third pair of the lone peaks. My only gripe is it seems I have to buy a new pair ever 4-6 months. I barely get to run 100 miles in them. (Yes, I only wear for running and have walking shoes.) Although I keep purchasing because they are the best. Please figure out how to keep the cushioning last a little longer. My wallet needs the support!

I have to overtighten the laces to tie these with a heel lock. I wish they were a few inches longer.

I walk and hike a lot, and have worn Altras for years. They always tend to wear a hole in the same place so I am curious how these will wear if they finally fixed the issue. These shoes don't tend to last very long. But, the wide toe box and flat footed no-heel-lift design is what make them so comfortable for walking and the grip on the sole is stable and great for loose rocky surfaces. The color "red" is really not that good looking - its more Pink/Orange/Salmon than red but I'll keep them anyway. Once they get dusty they'll look better.
I'd also recommend:
chaco, birkenstock, dansko

I got these because I have Morton's neuroma & need a roomy toe box & lots of cushioning. Perhaps due to the roomy toe box this shoe feels a half size large. my foot was sliding forward so I had to tighten them quite a bit. I thought they would work but the cushioning just wasn't enough. After 1 hour of walking my feet were only slightly sore but the soles of my feet were burning. Def not a shoe for running. Will return

The soles only last about 100 miles before they are too packed out. Would like to see materials that hold up longer to reduce waste and environmental impact. Shoes seem to be getting more narrow (lone peak) I now have to buy a wide with only one color option. Please consider offering more color options in wide. I've been buying Altra for at least 8 years. Would like to see them go back to designs and fit which were originally created. Also seems like the sizing changed. I now have to order size 11. Please consider bringing back a more quality shoe with quality materials. A made in USA design would be optimal :)

Often people complain an item is 'not as pictured' but in this case while the color is labeled red/gray it is not. It is exactly as pictured. Just in case someone has their heart set on real red shoes..like me. Still a great shoe. I love Altras.

This is my third pair of Altra Lone Peak shoes. They have a roomy toe box, are light weight, flexible and the "trailclaw" tread on the bottom is great. I walk about 3-4 miles most days, at times on pavement, or a mix of gravel and rocks. The Lone Peak was a perfect shoe for me, but unfortunately, Altra decided to change the lacing system on the latest model and the toe box can now be described as gargantuan! I actually thought I had mistakenly ordered wide shoes, but after examining the box and looking at my order, decided that this version of Lone Peak has an exceptionally wide toe box due to the lacing system. The upper part of the shoe can be laced up to fit snugly, but I'm left with folds over my toes. I hastily took them out of the box and headed outside for a walk, so they won't going back, but I will do my homework before I order another pair. Heads up Altra, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

This shoe takes weight off the balls of my feet and rebalances me. My orthotics fit great and there's lots of room for my hammer toes. If I'd had these shoes 30 years ago (I'm 76), my feet would be in better shape and I'd probably have less knee and back discomfort. Love them and plan to buy more!

I LOVE the Lone Peaks and recommend them to all of my friends and fam. I think they're most versatile shoe out there and I can trust them on any terrain. They are always my go-to when I travel and can't pack my entire shoe collection lol. They're grip are not as good as they Olympus.. maybe a Vibram sole in the future?? Not that the grip is bad, just less trusty on wet rocks/roots than the shoes with Vibram. I usually wear an 8.5 but had to size down to 8 in the new model! Otherwise they feel pretty similar to the 5s to me! Lone Peaks are my go-to shoe - great for short and long distance, cushioned enough to prevent foot fatigue but still allows you to feel a connection with the ground. Stoked about the new colors too :) reds are back!!

I usually wear either a 8.5 or 9 W in women's shoes. I have a wide forefoot, narrow heel, and high arch. I prefer a high volume shoe due to the high arch and orthotic use. In the Lone Peak 6, a size 9 is a good fit, however this is not a high volume shoe in terms of midfoot, arch, and toe depth. So I can wear a lightweight sock, but not a winter weight sock. I cannot use my standard orthotic in this shoe, must use a very thin orthotic. I found the 9 W to be a sloppy loose fit on my foot so 9 it was. The shoe is very comfortable and my little toe does not rub on the outer edge, like with regular shape shoes. The right heel rubbed in an odd way for about a week, then it became comfortable. This was true with another pair of Lone Peak 6s as well. I wear it for walking on trails, dirt roads, in the yard, and occasionally around town. I wish the Altra website would say which shoes are higher volume. I cannot say much about customer service. I ordered an 8.5 originally, sent it back immediately because it was too small. It was received by Altra's shipping agent over 6 weeks ago per shipper tracking verification, well within the 30 day timeframe, and I have yet to receive a credit to my card. I have asked customer service for assistance and have been waiting for some time for a response. For this reason I doubt I will order directly from Altra again. Get on the ball, folks.

I walk these shoes on pavement, dirt and coarse gravel roads. The sole wears down WAY before the rest of the shoe. A Vibram soled-version would be A-1! What I love: Foot shape shoe, zero-rise, cushioning.

First of all the unpleasant strong odor coming from the rubber sole material was nauseating! (in hopes that if i were keeping if left outside for awhile it would go away) . Love how the shoe fits my foot - especially in forefoot area - the best i have put on in multiple, multiple attempts to find a comfortable shoe . Unfortunately though the way it sits lower in heel hits the middle of my foot in an extremely uncomfortable (painful) way. I tried another innner sole and also some heel pads - nothing helped. So dissapointed since over all the shoe fits very well.

I ordered a wide (I normally must do this) and it was really too wide. The heel also slipped and there was no arch support whatsoever. I could have put my own insoles into the shoe but the unusual design (which is, I realize, the selling point) is not really suited for substitute insoles. I liked the color and the sole. But I had to return.

Comfortable shoe but I feel every pebble, every rock. Not much support in heel. Am worried about that, as I'm walking across Spain in a few months. May have to return these for a more substantial fit. Great for walking up and down my mountain for a half hour, but what I need, well, the count is still out.

This is a really comfy shoe for my wide toes and has lots of cushioning in the sole. Unfortunately, unless I tie it so tightly that it's uncomfortable on my instep, my foot slides forward in it and my second toe, which is longer than my big toe, hits the end in a pretty painful way. If you don't have a longer second toe you'll love this shoe.

Most comfortable shoe I have ever put on. I have bunions so my foot is wide so this review is for the "wide" sizing. I resisted buying these though because the color (old lady blue) is not going to match anything I have and I want to wear these shoes all the time. I wish they came in black with white sole or maybe dark gray. The men's color options are a bit more neutral.

Usually Altra's Lone Peak's toe box is wide on regular width but for this Lone Peak 6, the toe box is narrow than all previous Lone Peaks, even it's a little shorter too. The coral color is very orange, not much selection of color though. The horizontal loop on the back doesn't help anything, it's hard to put finger in the lope, please bring back the vertical loop. Overall is still comfy but I no longer can wear thicker socks in winter because of the toe box is narrow.

The 6 feels slightly more narrow than the 5. As always, it wouldn't hurt if the shoe had some arch support but overall it's a great shoe. It's comparable to the 5 ...slightly more narrow and a different lacing pattern.

Bought these after LOVING my Timp-3s. First run in them was an easy 11 miler. Felt great, perhaps slightly too big. Next run was a 5+ mile speed workout. It felt like nails were being driven into my 5th metatarsal heads. So painful, I couldn't walk properly for days.
