I use these shoes - Altra Lone Peaks - for hiking in the Santa Monica Mts in LA and Ventura Counties. A fellow hiker suggested them after a broke a rib sliding sideways on a narrow trail a year ago. There is a lot of scree on our trails. These shoes are fantastic - the soles have incredible traction, and are the best hiking shoes I have ever worn. The decrease in the number of slides I've had on those trails has been almost unbelievable. The soles seem to stop slides in all directions. And they are comfortable, light weight, easy to pack, and I now have three pairs. I wish wish wish that my Lone Peak 5's and 6's would be offered in all black. When Covid wanes I hope to travel again, and would take these shoes for everyday casual use in addition to hiking in them! I have relatively big feet, and these shoes actually make my feet look much smaller. I normally do not write reviews, but these shoes deserve thanks and recognition! Thank you Zappos and Altra!

I now have 4 pairs of Altras and knew that I take 1/2 size smaller than what I do in other shoes, so they fit just fine. I love that my toes can breath and spread out in the toe box and feel that my bunion won't progress in these shoes. I am a physical therapist/professor/researcher who studies footwear and foot strengthening and firmly believe in these shoes--maybe not for everyone, but definitely for the right person. I purchased the hiking boots and am totally in love. My new favorite shoe with good grip and super lightweight.

Very happy with the feel, look and fit. I wear a 9 and a 9 fit perfectly. These are my first foot shaped large toe box/minimal heel shoes. I bought them in an attempt to naturally correct my developing bunions and foot weakness. I am glad to find a shoe that will help me achieve a more natural shaped and less painful foot. My toes can spread apart and my achilles tendon can lengthen. I can also wear toes socks and a toe spreaders in them. I think it will take me some time to naturally correct my foot troubles but these shoes will help me get started. It is difficult to accept the lightness of the shoes b/c for years we are told to buy supportive shoes, which I have painfully learned actually weaken our feet. We need more appropriately foot shaped shoes like these for all climates. Would love to see a real warm boot for MN winters. A pack boot perhaps? Thank you Altra.

OMG so happy I tried these. I've been a big fan of the timp 1.5, but later versions weren't as good. For awhile I could find used online, but less so now. I took the lone peak 6's out today and they are possibly even better than my timps. Stable, light, roomy toe box, sure footing on Seattle rainy hills (road and park trails). I wear size 9, and these were tts. Also have high instep. I was smiling my entire run. Altra, I know you like to change things up, but please stick with this shoe for awhile!

I was really excited to get these shoes but the corners started wearing out within two weeks of very mild use. I contacted them to receive a replacement but they told me it's the usual wear and tear and they cannot do anything about it!!! I am very disappointed and will never buy Altra again.

So cute! I first read reviews saying size up a half size and tried them but they were a half size too big. I returned them and got my size and they fit perfectly.

Let me start with the good stuff. These shows are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoes I've ever owned. Honestly my foot has never felt better.
Downfall, as you can see in the photo, the material is l ready breaking down and I'm shocked and sad. I've only had these shoes TWO MONTHS, and they are too expensive to not be way more durable than this. Please please please correct this. I'd love to buy the hiking shoes and more running in the future, but only if they're going to last.

The new Lone Peak 6 is one size larger than my originals and the Lone Peak 5. I have sent 3 emails to the company with no response. I don't know if this is a quality control issue for my particular pair or if I should exchange for a 7.5. I sent pictures. I did talk to a phone rep, she was not aware of a length difference on the 6 and wasn't sure what size I should exchange for. I love your shoes but I need the correct size. The R shoe is longer than the L as well.

I got size 7.5, coral color, it looks very orange, I hope there're more choice but for women only have 4 selection of colors. The toe box isn't that wide as usual, seems like the Lone Peak models' toe box is getting smaller from one version to updated versions. I can feel that's smaller even by a couple of millimeter, the length seems a little bit shorter too. The loop at the back of the shoes is horizontal doesn't seem helpful, when we are wearing the shoes, our foot is in the way and block the view of the loop, so vertical loop is better for us to catch the loop to pull it up as finger goes from the side. It seems that new update versions of Lone Peak is losing it comfy because of toe box is getting smaller from versions by versions, I believe there're people complaining about it too. Altra should really listen to customers. I wore the shoes for 4.5 miles hike, overall t's still okay except the toe box is no longer that comfy as previous versions.

The first day I got them, I wore them all day. They were so comfortable I seriously did not take them off until bedtime.

This is my first purchase from Altra. I have very difficult feet with arthritis and ankle ligament issues. Right out of the box these were fanstasic! They fit like a glove and the cushion, padding is like no other I've tried. I had no break in time and was able to get my steps in with ultimate comfort. The fit is just perfection. I chose the light blue color, which is a bit dark but I'm coning back for another color. I normally wear a 9 1/2 to 10 and got the 10. I highly recommend. Very happy with this purchase.

I bought these shoes because I put a lot of miles on my feet as a professional dog walker and have a Taylor's bunion. These shoes made a world of difference and allow me to continue to put the miles down. These are perfect for trail walking. I feel sure footed with the aggressive tread pattern and actually helped me stop and maintain control when 2 dogs were pulling me out of control. They wash easily and dry quickly if left over the vent for a couple hours.

I love these sneakers. This is the 2nd pair I've purchased, the 1st were in 2020 and I wore them into the ground. Not only are they perfect for trail running, light hiking - they're my favorite for every day wear! So comfortable, supportive and lightly cushioned zero-drop, beautiful wide toe box. Altras are the best because you get the function with the style unlike other natural zero drop shoes out there. Please don't change these shoes. More colors would be fantastic though so I can buy more. I miss my burgundy pair.

Have loved Lone peak, one of my favorite. But they just don't hold up. I'm 4 for 4 of the fabric breaking or ripping away from the sole. Pictures are two different line peaks, first one retired after 300 miles bc of the fabric. Second pic retired after only 200 miles from the same location fabric ripping from the sole.
Love Altra, have 9 in rotation as we speak. But Lone peaks are out for me. Which makes me sad. Trying the Olympus, if the fabric breaks I will be done with Altra and looking for a new shoe brand.

This is the most comfortable shoe I've ever put my foot in. I don't have wide feet, but my toes always seem to be squished in others. Did a 5mi trail yesterday, very technical, mud, rocks, stream crossings, roots, a bit of rope climbing as well. Never once did I slip or lose my footing. And no pain! I usually have problems with my archilles tendon and shin splints on tough trails, seems the zero drop really does help with this. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

I purchased the Lone Peak 6 - WIDE. What a blessing these trail shoes have been. I have Morton's Neuroma and I finally found a shoe that is wide enough and I can even wear my Correct Toes with them! They are trail shoes, but I wear them on and off trails and they are simply the best. PLEASE don't stop making these shoes. If you are reading this review, I need you to pay close attention to how the lacing (U-shape) starts which I believe explains why these shoes are so comfy through the widest part of the foot!
I am petite with really wide feet and these are truly the only wide shoes that fit perfectly and I have tried on countless wide shoes from different makers! Oh, the Altra Torin 5 - Wide did not work for me!
A Million Thanks to Altra for the Lone Peak 6 - Wide Shoes!

I had a co-worker recommend altra trail shoe 1 week before a 15 mile mountain trail run. I did not have time to break them in and I had absolutely no pain. Plus, I did not fall once running up or down sand and lava rock terrain that was very steep. The first pair I ordered were a half size too big and ended up expressing a second pair in a smaller size. (I read they run small so I ordered up, but they ran true to size for me.) Return was easy on the first pair and received money back quickly. I am 100% happy with the shoe and the customer experience. Thanks!

I like to hike with shoes that is comfortable and flexible. I have wide foot so i was looking for a wide shoes. I got Lone Peak6, Dusty Teal size 7 and 7.5. I usually wear size 7 but I choose size 7.5 since I have more spaces for my toes and i can wear them with thick socks. I went for hiking yesterday with the shoes. It was so comfortable and didn’t hurt my toes at all. This is the best pair of hiking shoes I ever had! They also offer nice color to choose from.

My normal shoe size is 8.5 but in running shoes (due to feet swelling) I wear a size 10 and these are absolutely perfect! They give me all the protection I need without being bulky, I feel light on my feet. I go on a trail run in Colorado every week and have no issues with running up and down the rocky terrain.

This is my first Altra shoe, and I'm already an Altra fangirl. Most comfortable shoe. They are surprisingly more cushioned than they look like they would be. They took no breaking in, besides easing in to that zero drop coming from a standard shoe. I can hike long distances comfortably, and my knee pain is gone which is incredible. My feet do get tired on longer road walks, but once I hit trail my feet are happy again. They clean up like new after an ankle deep sludgy muddy hike. Water goes in and out easily so you don't have completely waterlogged feet. I've only got about 100 miles on them, but I've abused them, and they have held up beautifully so far. I've tossed my old shoes, and just purchased another pair of everyday Altras because my old athletic shoes and trail runners feel awful after wearing these.

Fit is similar, but a little less supportive than the Lone Peak 5. Durable material and nice color. Worth a try for sure!

I have been wearing the LonePeak 5 and love the shoe. I decided to get another pair and saw the new version. The color selection could be better, but I opted for the black. I have a wide foot, but the medium is more than wide enough. I also waver between a 9/9.5 and the 9 is plenty long enough, so if you are between sizes, I would go the smaller size. I only hike in these shoes when I know that the trail is not rocky as I need more ankle support. These are used more for everyday shoes. The arch support could be better, but that is not what I was looking for. Overall comfort was my goal and these hit the mark!
