Typically able to get through a season with one pair of Timps; however, after buying these in late November and alternating with other shoes, the sides on both totally ripped.

Comfy and breathable BUT wears out in just a few runs. Terrible quality. Very disappointed.

Too cushioning - not enough return. Causes heel and knee pain on this long-time Altra (Lone Peak) wearer. Going back to the Lone Peaks.

This is my 4th pair of Timp's over the years - I had the 1.5's and a couple pairs of the 3's. I use them for light trailing, some walking and casual - they are comfortable. The Timp 4's have been quite disappointing. Narrower toe box, the material covering the midsole (new to timp) gets destroyed and stained and the outsole is gone after just 8 month of light use. I'm not a runner. I still have my 3's with more outsole than my 8 month old 4's. I think the Timp is no longer a good shoe

The timp 4 has disappointed me. Being that I was a hardcore timp 3 lover I was super excited to try these, but even looking at them it feels like ALTRA is selling out and trying to fit into the stereotypical shoe mold, which is something I loved that they weren't! I don't understand the holes by the midsole and don't think it adds anything. I already have blow out on the edges after not hard use. Lastly the tongue is not comfortable as it rubs on your ankle area and the tuck in for the laces is lacking. I really really hope ALTRA goes back to the timp 3 design framework instead of continuing this. I LOVED this show and it was my best cringe, but the 4 has left me sad to see those others gone instead of excited for more adventure.

I thought maybe a higher priced Altra might do the trick, but the tongue drifts off to the side after just a few steps. The padding/cushion around the ankle is about a quarter of what my other Altras have. Just feels and looks cheap. I'm disappointed because Altra has been my go-to zero drop shoe.

I have loved my Timps for years. The 2.5 version was the absolute best. I needed a new pair as my 3's had worn out. Sadly, the tongue on version 4 is stiff, slippery, and constantly slides off to the side. It drove me nuts having to constantly adjust the tongue. I've only had to return shoes due to fit, not frustration. These shoes were incredibly frustrating. Please go back to the old tongue, and some better color options.

This shoe would have been perfect except the lounge—giant, stiff rough material biting into top of ankle. I'm so disappointed.

The top of the tongue pokes my ankle and is extremely annoying and uncomfortable. The shoes were beautiful, but unwearable simply because of the style of the tongue.

I have been wearing the Timp since I got hooked on Altras- I've gone thru probably a dozen pair. And now I need to find a new shoe because the tongue on the new timp is AWFUL. It digs into your shin, constantly slips around and doesnt want to stay put. I dont understand when design changes like this are made- does no one try the shoe before the design is finalized?

The sole is the standard, instead of the original sole make, and that is why this shoe is not very good. It causes my feet to go inward, my feet are sliding inside upon the rim of the inner frame instead of walking straight out in front of me. This doesn't feel comfortable to me feet or toes, and most likely the rest of my frame. Too bad Altra has been removing their old style of the wider original shoe soles. If the sole was wider It would not do that. I don't think I am going to be able to keep these shoes.

I am a devoted Altra wearer and avid trail runner. You won't see me in anything other than Altra Escalantes and Altra Timps. My Altra Timp 2s have taken me through several 100Ks and a 100 miler but finally fell apart on the sides. I ordered the new Timp 4 and instantly it was too small. Tight on the toes, tight on the sides. I ran a few short trail races and got too many blisters. It's like the entire shoe is a size too small. Unfortunately for me, I wear a women's size 12 and a larger size is not offered. I am now scrambling to see if I can find any size 12 Timps 2s still being sold but no luck. I'm so disappointed the Timp 4 has shrunk in size...I'm not sure where to go from here.

I was really hoping to like these, but had heel blisters within 2 miles of wearing them. I had the same problem with older versions, I'm not sure if its because the heel cup is harder or more narrow? I was hoping the new version would be different, but the bone spurs on my heels rub and blister. I don't have this problem in any other Altra shoe so I'm not sure what it is about Timps that cause this!

I had altra shoes years ago. They were great. The manufacture has obviously changed. Cheap, thin and stiff. The tongue was made of plastic and sharp on the edge. Cut into the front of my ankle.

I loved the Timp 3's. They were light, airy, plenty of room in the toe box and good support. This new one is much shorter! In the same size 12 I always wear, my toes were hitting the end of the shoe before even taking a step. I know my feet haven't grown longer! And, it was clunky, heavy and had a cheap flimsy tongue. These are going back!

I found the heel cup and heel area to be too low. When I was standing up straight I felt like I was tipping backwards. My husband (a runner) also said they looked very uncomfortable and my stance was awkward. I bought three different styles to try on for mountain hiking (I had heard the toe box width is great--which it is), unfortunately I have had to return all 3 pairs. They may work for others. Just not for me.

I was so excited to try this shoe! It felt awesome at first, but as others have noted the tongue is just too long and cut into my foot. I was so sad to have to return a shoe Just for that, but it was a dealbreaker. Please change the tongue - and p it vibram soles on!! Then they would be amazing!!!

I like these shoes but as other reviewers the tongue thing is weird and uncomfortable with low socks with both high and low it moves to the side. I do like the cushioning on the heal, but sad about the shoe fit etc overall. Also wish it had a more aggressive sole tread.

The tongue on this is rigid and cuts into my ankle/shin. Altra please quit doing this! The previous version had a normal tongue and I loved that shoe. These will be going back. Sizing by the way — I am usually a 9 in Altra and this was the case here. I was an 8.5 in the previous version.

Love the cushioning from this shoe. The width was ok in these, but the heel is too loose. This model would likely do well in a lower volume foot, but they no longer accommodate an orthotic like they used to. These will have to go back. I had 3 pairs of the 1.5 and still waiting for the fit to return.

I won't buy another pair of Altra shoes due to the durability. Within just 3 months, the tread on these shoes were smooth and there was nearly a hole in the sole.

I bought this shoe last fall last year. I did not wear them much this winter as I live where it snows and don't run in the winter. I really like the fit of this shoe however I have not worn them that much this spring and the material on the outside of the right shoe has split. I also agree with the complaint of the tongue does cut into the ankle.

Honestly these shoes are falsely advertised. After just two weeks both of the shoes had holes in them. The side mesh is cheap and weak. They completely fell apart. For the price these shoes are not worth it at all.
