I was one of the early buyers of Altra shoes when the company started up. Nobody had heard of the company and a small inner crowd of runners spotted each other in their Altras. Wow have the shoes changes since then. A great design got changed many times and not for the better. The shoes are less durable, the front fabric busts out leaving toe holes, the heel cup offer poor support, and the stability is unstable. You all need to go back to your roots. I I am getting tired of contacting you to complain about the foot box size which you just love to shrink.

I tried these shoes when the Altra rep came to our group run. just a 5K, but I got a PR, and the shoes felt comfortable. Last week I bought a pair at my LRS and then went for a 5 miler. I often start having issues with pain in the pad of the ball of my foot around this mileage, but no hint of it. Today I took them out and did 14 miles, a mix of road and light trail - roots, gravel, a little mud - and they performed great! no pain in my feet, and no pain in my knees! I have had a few knee surgeries over the years, so knee pain is a constant for me when I get into longer runs, so to get to 14 miles with no pain is a big deal for me. and pain in the pad of my foot has also ben a fairly constant thing for with with longer runs, even with my Hokas, which did pretty well most of the time, so I am pretty darn happy with these shoes at the moment.
My heels do not move around at all, and my midfoot feels like it is well supported. I do wish the tongue was gusseted, but I haven't yet had any issues with it moving around. I love the toe room, and the natual feel of the toe box.
The shoes seem to have a good grip on the pavement, and when I got out on the trail, I felt like I had good traction, despite running through damp leaves, roots, and both small and large gravel. All-in-all this is one of the best shoes I have ever run in.

I've had a couple Altra's in the past. A couple wore out way too fast and then the toe box shrunk. After running a couple marathons in a month last fall I had some discomfort on the inside of my ankle. I looked for a shoe with a wider toe box and a little stability. Didn't want to rock the ankle too much. After resting the ankle I worked the Altra into my rotation. So far, so good. I've babied it somewhat not wearing it during sloppy conditions during Wisconsin weather.I think the best thing I can ever say about a shoe is that I am not aware of it when I run. Nice fit. Nice feel.

Shoes arrived on time and I tried them on right away. Very happy with fit and appearance of this shoe. Wore them around the house for several hours and am very happy with my choice. If you have a wide foot and need a 4e size as I do try this brand. Will continue to shop and purchase shoes that fit my needs. Not a runner.

This is a fun shoe, that has the guide-rail nub (I like to think of it as a nub,) as it catches the edge of my arch and it gives me a nice little bump reminder if I have an over stride. This shoe is just right for street, trail runs, yeah the little stones get stuck in the tread, but the tread is definitely thick and so far with just 100 miles in there is no wear showing yet. I will say that while these shows are marketed as black, they seem to be more of dark gray then black and you can see the difference in color comparison to the Escalates, not a deal breaker for me though.

I picked up 2 pairs of these on a clearance sale. Glad I did! It's strange, one analysis at oe store says "structured." Another from a different system says "Neutral." These seem to be perfect for me!

There is plenty of room in this shoe for my wide and toe spacers. The guiderail tech keeps my feet in the proper position and the midsole feels like running on air even under rocky conditions. Overall, this is my favorite shoe from Altra.

Big improvement over the provision 4/5. Lacing system is a lot better and like the innovative integration. Toe box is nice and roomy, really like the ego midsole.
Feels narrow in the mid foot, and doesn't have the support I need for over pronation though. When running I can feel I'm against the guiderail the whole time and toe off it's not my whole pad just big toe and one beside it. Bring back a Varus wedge or something like the previous models had. I loved the provision 3.5's but the mid soles were very firm.

This is the first time I bought this revision since the Provision 2. Since then there has been plenty that has changed. This is the sort of shoe I use for training. Otherwise, I generally use Torin (long time fan of this series) or Escalante for training or racing.
From what I last remember about Provision 2 was the weird feeling heel claw and tongue. There was something about that which didn't feel right. Provision 6 feel quite solid. My first run was around five miles and everything felt really good, right out of the box. Even a few runs after that there was very little to complain about. I generally use a size 11 and this felt really good and had no issues on my feet. There were some minor adjustments while running to make and it didn't have an overly spongy feel under my foot.
If there was anything to gripe about was the laces. Being the prices have gone up on the shoes you would think they'd provide laces that are a bit longer. These feel as though they will come undone during a run and nobody enjoys having to stop to retie laces again. Is there a supply chain delay on longer laces?

In addition to the Provision 6, I've owned one pair of the Torin 5, two pairs of the Paradigm 6, and two variations of the Lone Peak 6. I think Altra is making good progress in bringing their whites mainstream, especially in styling and maintaining high quality construction. The upper on the Provision 6 is my favorite of all models I've owned, it's lightweight, flexible and gently hugs the foot slightly better than the Paradigm 6. I also find the blue colorway to be one of the more handsome stylings across the lineup. But there are a few cons that I hope will find revision in the next update. First, the little ridges in the outsole are dirt and pebble magnets, I think the outsole style of the Paradigm 6 is much better in this regard. Also, the heel is very narrow, much narrower than the Paradigm 6 although they're both marked as "standard" width. Third, this is more of a personal preference, but I think Ego midsole feels a bit stiff, I personally would like to see the Ego Max come to the Provision lineup. Finally, I think the different shoes with different widths is hard to follow. I might suggest Altra move toward just one standard width across the lineup and make wider and narrower options for certain models, especially its most popular models like the Torin, Provision and Paradigm.

I wear altra's daily, I'm not a runner. After ordering replacement for Paradigm 5s and didn't care for the fit. I ordered a set of Olympus and wore them for about a week. Wasn't satisfied with them and got on the site and saw the provisions on sale and try them out. Soon as I put them on they were like gloves fit well good padding excellent cushioning and just everything I look in a general purpose shoe love the soul even though it does pick up a lot of little things. Would definitely recommend.

I ran in the Escalante(which I loved) for the past five years, but I always struggled with shin splints any time I ran more than 25-30 miles/week. I decided to look for something with a touch of stability to take the pressure off of my shins(I tend to over pronate), and the Provision 6 has fit the bill perfectly. It's everything I loved about the Escalante, but feels secure enough--especially in the midfoot--to put lots of miles on. Perfect amount of cushioning, thin and secure upper material, and sick look. 10/10 recommend to someone who loves a neutral shoe but needs a little bit of support for higher mileage.

I walk for fitness 365 days a year. I'm not sure these are the best Altras for that purpose? This company seems to be for runners, but so far these work well in my daily rotation with Hokas. Comfortable!

After wearing out 2 pair of Paradigm 4.5s, and 2 pair of Paradigm 5s, I started running in my first pair of Paradigm 6s of course, and was so pleased with the full redesign! When I saw that the Provision 6 was also a full redesign I decided to give it a try. Wow. What an excellent shoe. Firmer than the Paradigm, with a tough and grippy outsole. Slightly lower stack, using Ego instead of the softer Ego MAX, and an excellent gusseted lacing to set the medial support just how I like it. As a medium over pronator, but still having a pretty firm arch, it's been tough to find the right stability shoes for years. Thanks to Altra and the Paradigm and particularly this new Provision, I am comfortable on all my long runs and I recover quickly. Plus the styling is sharp! Can't be happier!

I have several pairs of these. I have ordered 10.5 in the past and have been perfect. I usually wear a 10. This pair I ordered 10.5 and is way too big. Even looks longer than my other pairs. I returned and have ordered a 10. Will see how it fits. Don't understand how they can be so different.

Went for a run this morning in my new pair of Provision 6's and love them. I ordered half size up based upon size reviews and they fit perfectly and I have wide feet. Very responsive but with plenty of cushion. This may be my best pair of Altras yet.
