Altra is the only shoe I use for running. Been a faithful customer for almost 8 years. This shoe continues the streak.

After not really liking the Provision4&5, the Provision 6 brings me back to Altras roots. Nice open toes again after some fit issues in 4/5 and I love the extra cushioning.

It's good, has good support, though don't tighten it too much. It's breathable, the toebox/lace meetup was bothering my foot. It's grippy but insanely loud, like there's syrup on my shoe! Size 10 gel venture-Size 9 Altra Provision 6

Nice shoe with a great shape but the sole inserts are really, really thin and you can feel the stitching through the instep. It started aggravating my feet after running a couple miles. I love the shape of the shoe so I got some other inserts to put inside. But for the price you'd think the shoes would have better inserts.

Got new pair after return (still waiting on credit for return). The fit is good now. I take a 14 in Lone Peak and a 13 in Provision. So far so good. Wish you could still give 50% discounted price!

I marked width as to wide because I normally wear a 2E but the shape of toe box allows me to wear normal width. Still transitioning to a zero drop shoe but very comfortable from the start.

I love the outsole but not the rest of the shoe. It’s only ok. Put this outsole on the lonepeak or timp and you’ll have a hell of a road shoe.

These shoes are like little gloves for your feet. Exceptionally comfortable, breathable, and lightweight, they are a feet treat feat. Companions for 500k-600k steps; I find myself counting, choosing carefully, savoring each footfall. Beautiful for a season but no more. Fresh and vital from their box a haunting dirge never far from the tongues of their fallen sisters who litter my house congregating near entryways and in the garage. Ghosts of past delights, existential frights, these shoes are out of sight!

I used to wear an 11.5 when Altras came out, but I bought these in a shop where I could try them on and needed a 12.5. They feel like there is more motion control, which I don't need. The tread overall is good, but the L shoe squeaks every step, and it accumulates pebbles and road salt. It is a good, solid shoe, but I have liked other versions of Altras better.

I was getting ready for Kiawah marathon, my provision 5 shoes were wearing thin in the heels. Just wanted to get the very same shoes for the marathon. Unfortunately, the Provision 6 shoes were out. I order them (same size) expecting them to be like my Provision 5 shoes. They feel a half size bigger and I experienced some pains in locations of my feet that I have not felt before. I will go back to the Provision 5 old shoes for the marathon. Afterwards, I will look for new Provision 5 shoes on the internet/running stores.

Great sale price. Use for some running, a lot of walking. Up 1/2 size feels better than my normal 10, which didn't feel bad at all, just more comfortable a half size larger. Love the traction!

I found the arch started too far to the rear of the shoe so would dig into my instep. The design flaw for me was the design of the sole outer surface. It has tons of small holes in the pattern so that gravel picked up on the run sticks in there and sits higher than surface height. So you're scratching anything you walk on inside your home or a gymnasium. Think scratching your hardwood floors even after wiping your feet on the mat at the door. The pic is after I had picked a lot of it out but would have needed a pick or something to get the rest of it. Gave up at that point.

Decent shoe but it's just to narrow. Previous Altra running shoes haven't rubbed me wrong or made hot spots as much as these shoes did.

Like most other shoes Altra has made everything too narrow. The old days of Instincts are over for us wide feet people. 3 stars due to this, but it has great construction and padding for running.

I really liked the Provision 5, as it gave me great support over uneven surfaces. However, the Provision 6 appears bouncy, not much support, too much cushion, and feels a little small in the forefoot! A real disappointment, especially due to it's price!

This shoe seemed very well made but it was extremely narrow and I had to send it back. I am 5'9 135lbs and my feet aren't especially wide but the middle part of this shoe by the arches is very narrow and my foot was hanging over the side of the shoe. I was trying to transition from Hokas which I've been running in for years and generally aren't as narrow as this shoe.

Bought the 5 was a little cautious but fell in Love with them after a month. Wanted to buy another pair but gone so I got the 6. So this would be my 7 Altra pair. The 6 feels a little longer. The toe box smaller and the with tighter giving me some issues on my arch area. If going from a 5 to a 6 I would try a different shoe

I like some of the updates. The lacing system is much better than 5. The fabric seems like it will hold up better than 5 did. The support feels great for me and I like the extra lace loop option but the laces need to be a smidge longer for that. The toe box feel more narrow than previous models which is a huge disappointment. Also the treadWTH?! It grabs every little pebble from the road. So if I jump onto a gravel path for a little bit, my shoes pick up everything. Get rid of this tread!!! TLDR: nice shoe. Widen the toe box. Find new tread.

I'm an avid Altra fan and liked the two previous versions of the Provision. The tall and stiff tongue on the back of the shoe is a really poor design. It digs into the back of my leg every time I push off. I think it would be a good shoe otherwise.

Please bring back the old Provision!!! Like other reviewers, this version is very disappointing compared to the older Provisions. These feel like they actually CAUSE me to pronate instead of reducing my pronation. The outer raised edge of the sole feels so rigid and puts pressure on the outer part of the sole of my foot, forcing pronation, and the arch support is nothing compared to old provisions. Two plusses: these are the best looking Provisions they've ever made, and they got rid of the awkward 3-finger lacing design that was really difficult to use. Unfortunately, I can't wear these shoes because of the pain from pronation. I will stock up on old models when I can find them or have to switch back to the Brooks Beast (a great shoe but inferior to the old Provisions, which are lighter and have a more comfortable toe box).

I bought these shoes after falling in love with the fit of a friend’s earlier model that is no longer made. Sadly, the change in design is not for the better. I don’t have particularly wide feet, but the stack in the midsole area dug into my instep so much I couldn’t wear these shoes for five minutes without experiencing pain. I have some moderate overprination and slightly flat feet; maybe someone with a higher arch or neutral pronation would feel differently, but I had to send them back.
