I got the old version of this backpack with the double front zippers in sophomore or junior year of high school. It lasted me through the end of that, through a bachelor's (including a semester-long trip to the tropics), occasional use for two gap years, and now halfway through the second year of a master's degree. It's the only bag I use for school, so definitely heavily used. It still has plenty of life left in it (with nothing broken/snapped/ripped), and I sling this thing onto the ground all the time. These packs are worth the money--so long as they haven't changed how they construct them since about 2016.

I decided to purchase this backpack after my daughter went through 2 backpacks in 1 year and back in the day LL Bean was the brand you buy when you want quality and longevity so buying this backpack I can assure you that is still true today I know this backpack will last for many years because when you buy LL Bean your not just buying a brand your buying quality.

Bought for my grandson who is in middle school. My daughters used this same backpack all through middle school and high school. Sturdy and right size for everything. These backpacks never disappoint.

I've been using the L.L.Bean Deluxe Bookpack IV for a while now, and I'm genuinely impressed by how sturdy it feels it's one of the few bags I don't worry about tossing around or overstuffing. The pockets are laid out so well that everything has a place, and I never feel like I'm digging endlessly to find what I need. Honestly, it's the kind of backpack that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with anything else.

My grandparents got me this backpack when i was 11 years old, for 6th grade. I used it everyday since for middle and highschool and used it for every trip, vacation, hike and long car ride since. Its been up and down the east coast from maine to florida more times than i can count. I am 27 now and just went back to school. I still use this backpack everyday. She may look rough but its 16 years old at this point. Buy this backpack.

Great product for my granddaughter who goes through backpacks like quarterly! So far so good, very strong for her ton of books she hauls around.

Worked great on a recent trip. Was able to pack everything needed between the backpack and a carry on piece of luggage for a 7 day flight out of town.

Ordered this for travel and for a work bag. I'm a nurse and have to carry a lot of stuff to and from work. It has been great for both uses. I was able to pack all the stuff I needed for a 7 day trip in it and it fit under the airplane seat easily. Also carries all my work gear with room to spare. I love that I can put water bottles on both sides of it. Feels sturdy and appears well made so hoping it lasts a long time.

This is my absolute favorite backpack. I used them in school for myself and now I buy them exclusively for my 4 kids! They hold up so well to the everyday wear and tear that kids put them through. The size is absolutely perfect and the style is a classic!

As a child, I carried an LL Bean book bag and it lasted middle school through my college years. For my kids there was no question--it was LL Bean or bust! We started with the Jr. Bookpack, then graduated to the regular size bookpack and now the deluxe to hold all their things--from huge binders to lunch bags and more--the deluxe offers plenty of room and then some. We still use the smaller ones for trips, etc. as they too will last forever. The quality is outstanding, very durable and exactly what you would expect from LL Bean. I will forever stand behind this brand. It's tried and true! Thank you, LL Bean!

This backpack is the perfect size and very durable for my 5th grader!

My daughter still has this bag from her high school days. She is 39. Got the latest one for my grandson. It is the only back pack our family will buy. They are sturdy, well made and long lasting.

This is the second time I purchased this bag. My son loves it. He says it is the perfect size and has just enough compartments for all his stuff to remain organized. He first used it from grade 6-9. While the bag was in great shape, the water bottle netting on the sides ripped so I forced him to get a new one. He selected the same one in the same color again :-)

I used this for travel and it was a good investment.

Arrived early. Good price Grandson loves it. He uses it every day.
