I bought one of these for each of my sons. They will outgrow them before they wear them out. Solid product and price is decent with promotion. Had them Embroidered with their names.

This is a perfect sized backpack for a short trip or as a carryon. Love it.

We bought this for our son when he was 6 months old, he obviously couldn't use it but we used it as his diaper bag to send with him to grandma and grandpa's house for the day. It was great when we flew with him, we were able to put everything he needed in there. He's a toddler and now it holds diapers, snacks, a change of clothes, and whatever toy/ book he stuffs in after we've filled it. He will use this for 5-6 more years, it's a great investment and freakin' adorable. We're ordering a second for his little brother now.

This backpack is terrific. Feels sturdy and reminds me of the L.L. Bean backpack I had as a kid. Fits my 36 inch toddler well.

I boutght this backpack for my 27 year old daughter when she headed offf to kindergarten. She used it daily for 2 years through 1st grade then went to a larger size in 2nd grade. We have used it since for pets and more. My granddaughter just started preschool last week carrying this backpack and it looks like new.

I have purchased LLBean Book Packs for my grandchildren. They are the best book bags. Worth the money. LLBean also does a great job monogramming.

hi, I'm a junior in high school and my mom purchased this backpack for me when I was starting kindergarten and I have been using it for everything since then from school, parties, sleepovers, to a carry-on. This backpack does it all.

This backpack fits my 5 year old perfect. Matching lunchbox makes the set too cool.

Our four year old granddaughter is starting pre-school in a couple weeks and she wanted a pink backpack... The junior book pack is the same material as the big ones that all her older cousins have gotten from us. We got the free monogramming and shipping as a benefit of our L.L. Bean Mastercard. The shipping was very fast even though the initials monogram had to be done. Our daughters have not worn out the ones we got them decades ago. Their kids use those old ones to carry toys around the house. Everyone is happy all around. One grandchild to go.

I purchased this jr. backpack for my daughter (age 5) to begin kindergarten. It is the perfect size for her to carry easily, but big enough to grow with her the next few years. The construction of the backpack is wonderful; it is still what I remember from my backpack I had as a middle/high school student many years ago. we will be purchasing the next size up in a few years, and I have a feeling this one will still be good enough to pass down to any little sisters that may come along.

I have heard so much about this backpack from my aunt telling her friends over the 18+ years my cousins had used them. She raved about how comfortable the straps are and their books never got wet because of the backpacks being waterproof. Now that I have kids of my own and my 1st is ready for school this fall, it's a no brainer what backpack I'm getting her. Us moms know that me-time is when the kids are sleeping for the night. I made my coffee and sat at the computer ready to make my order and proudly monogram her name on her very first backpack for school. I entered all of my information and promo codes as well as signed up for the L.LBean Mastercard because I'm sure I was going to frequent this site since my kids are only going to get bigger. Just as I doubled checked my information and was about to click place my order, I did not realize the clock stroke 12 and poof (like cinderella) my promo codes were gone, and my amount doubled. I called customer service right away, after a very patient rep waited while my kids woke up, yes both, a very angry printer paper jam and a forgotten password reset, she was able to get me right back on track with my discounts and replacing my order. I'm so excited to receive my first order! Every time I see my kids with their L.L Bean products I will be gleaming with pride! Keep up the wonderful job L.L Bean! To many,many more successful years!

I bought this backpack (without the side pocket) for my son somewhere around his first birthday. I struggled to find a useful diaper bag that wasn't huge. I grew up in Maine and with LL Bean bags (most of which are still in great use), so I knew this would be a bag that lasted. We've had it for more than 3 years now. It's still in wonderful condition, despite what it's gone though. Everything from spilled milk, formula, food, burst sunscreen bottle, you name it. I've been able to successfully clean it all out. I've been saying for years that these backpacks should have a water bottle pouch, so I'm excited about this new feature. With another baby on the way, and my son starting pre-school in the fall, we will be purchasing another two very soon.

We bought this backpack over 4 years ago as a diaper bag that would convert to a play bag for our son as he got older. We have loved it and never been disappointed in how well it carries everything without worrying about breaking the zipper or tearing the fabric. It was really cute when my son became old enough to put it on his own back and proudly carry it himself, like his older sisters. At the time, I contacted LLBean to mention how much we would've really appreciated a cup holder for this size as well. I was so happy to see a fellow mom today walking around with a new one of these, with a cup holder on the side! Thank you, LLBean, for listening to and valuing your customers' input and suggestions. I wish it had been available at the time of our purchase, but I'm so pleased to know our suggestions were considered and implemented. We've loved all our bags from you and will continue to purchase in the future as we need, knowing you value quality and customer input.

I purchase at least 4 per year. I love them not just for my grandsons because now they are at the age of being rugged young boys. It stands the wear of their ruggedness. I also purchase one for me for items I may need when I got out with them.

I am finally ordering a new Junior pack, and I hope it lasts like the one I bought about eight years ago. That one isn't even truly worn out, I am just tired of it and want a new color! I am a teacher and a mom so I use this pack for my school stuff and to haul around my essentials for my kids. It's perfect. I've also used it to travel and find it sufficient in size for everything I would want on the plane. I'm glad to see the new bags have a water bottle holder-something I always wished the old one had. When it gets dirty, I throw it in the washing machine. Buy this for your kids or yourself!

I purchased this backpack after putting in an embarrassing amount of time researching the best backpacks for young kids. I cannot say enough how happy we are with it! This bag has taken a daily beating by my kiddo, but there are no signs of wear and tear. She tosses it around the bus, the playground, the gym, and our home. It carries her homework folder, her lunch box, a blanket, and various odds and ends she stashed in the pockets. l love the pocket for her water bottle. It holds her 10oz kids Sip by S'well bottle from Target perfectly. It is a good size for her, and there's plenty of room to grow. When she began using it she was 4, and weighed about 35lbs. Now she is 5, has grown a couple inches and weighs 37lbs. I think she will still be using this for several years to come. She has never had a problem using the zippers or putting it on. Absolutely a great buy and made me an LLBean fan or life!

Created an account to leave a review. We got this backpack in the summer 2016 for my daughter---no water bottle pocket. Yesterday, I found that her water bottle had leaked in the second pocket and there was 1/2 cup water at least in the pocket. Much to my delight, all of her papers and notebooks in the main compartment was perfectly dry. Not even the fabric felt wet in the main compartment. I feel this indicates great quality in construction & materials. In world of cutting corners and broken promises, it's nice to still be able to get a good quality product that lasts.

We originally bought one of these for my son for preschool. He's in kindergarten this year so we had to upgrade to the full size, but he still uses this one all the time. It's the perfect size for traveling to pack some toys and a few sets of clothes. Ordered two more for his sisters for Christmas since they use them when we spend time with family.

We love this backpack for our preschoolers. It's large enough to fit full size folders, a lunchbox, an extra change of clothes, but is the perfect size for my littles (4.5 and 2.5) - not too big, just right! We bought one for our son last year and just bought another one for little sister. And we love that it now comes with a water bottle pocket on the side - so helpful. Love the book bag for our 7 year old which we've had for over a year. I have a dark green LL Bean bag which is over 20 years old still going strong! The lavender shows dirt and grime too easily. Wish it came in a darker purple and darker pink.

Bought backpack for little one who started TK, she loves it especially because she has her name embroidered and the easily identifiable color: pink! The one issue is that it only has a one sided water bottle holder. Not sure why the company decided to do this especially since most backpacks are dual sided, and the pocket doesn't take up a lot of space since it's for a small water bottle/container. It would be great to have a second easy access pocket where she can get her lunch-card or hair ties without dealing with the zippers pockets.

Gave 4 stars because I love this backpack, BUT the quality is not the same as it was 25 years ago. The fabric seems thinner and I worry about the zipper lasting.

sad there isnt the life time warrenty anymore my son had his for 2 years and the zipper broke i had mine for 9 years in the 90s and 2000s and no issue
