I used these shoes for hiking and have worn them on several day hikes from 10-30 km long. The cushioning is fantastic - my feet were comfortable all day, even at 30 km. The grip is okay, but certainly not the most stable. They almost remind me of the XA Elevate, which was, in my opinion, the best shoe Salomon has ever made (RIP XA elevate, I miss you). Except the grip on the elevate is unmatched. Here are my grievances/ suggestions:
1. Toe Box - the toe box is very narrow, with the apex near the centre of the foot. I found the side of my big toe was rubbing on the shoe, which caused a blister. I have never gotten a blister in a Salomon shoe before and this is my 5th pair. If the toe box was slightly wider and the peak moved slightly toward the big toe (rather than the centre of the foot), it would be perfect.
2. Foot hold - I found my foot slipping forward on the downhills no matter how tight I made the shoe. I considered sizing up to address the first point, but this made the foot hold issue worse. I think the quick lace system on the pair I got may have been faulty as well, since I noticed it often loosened up, which further caused my foot to slip.
3. Ankle rubbing - I found the back wing of the shoe and the parts that sit below my ankle to rub. This caused irritation, since I wear ankle socks to hike. If the parts around the ankle were lower, particularly the back wing part, that would be awesome!
4. The grip - as mentioned earlier, the grip was okay. If this is advertised as a trail shoe, I think Salomon should commit a trail grip. 4.5 mm lugs would be stellar.
I think Salomon is really on to something with this shoe and I hope they continue to make new iterations. A lot of people use trail runners for hiking/backpacking, and I think this shoe could be a real contender for that arena. But for now, the above mentioned points make the shoe uncomfortable/ unwearable to me. Can't wait to see how this evolves though.

I bought those a month ago and I'm really happy with them. Tried them on dry, wet, muddy trails and they are doing great. Wouldn't wear those during winter time. Tried them on melting snow and I was slidding more than running.

Great shoes right out of the box! Very roomy toe box which helps if you are dealing with bunion issues. I have been searching for a trail running shoe and tried at least 10 styles/brands and finally found the right pair. The grip is fantastic. I’ve tried them on a snowy trail and they responded very well. Highly recommended.

I first tried the Pulsar Trail shoe this past summer and they have been my favorite shoe ever since. They are incredibly lightweight and comfortable. They aren't bulky or stiff like other trail shoes I've had and the cushion is just right. Easy to put on and get off and the tread is perfect for the trails. My feet are so comfortable in these shoes.

I am thrilled to have finally found my just right shoe. Great cushion, nice supportive structure and thankfully a modest drop. It's the first shoe I've had in a long time that was perfect out of the box. They run just a touch long compared to my other Salomon's, but not so much that I'd consider them oversized.

This is my second pair of Salomon shoes and they hug my feel without feeling bulky. The sole has a secure grip. Thank you!

Salomon shoes are well made, comfortable, and easy to lace! I've had them in the past, but not in the past ten years or so, and am so glad I purchased these. I won't stray again.

I typically run on firmer dirt and rocks in Vermont. I needed a shoe that is supportive to my back and knees with a narrower toebox than the typical supportive footwear lines. I trained and finished a half marathon trail run in these puppies and they fit the bill. No back pain, no blisters, no worries with grip. I purchased the size I usually do for running shoes and I found them to be true to size. Thanks, Salomon!

I really like cushion, especially when I am on flat or non-technical trails. The rocker in the shoe does a great job of propelling you forward and the regular lacing system helps keep my narrow heal in place.

I bought these a month ago. They are super comfortable. I work in food service. But the only problem, is that the slip resistant is not that good

I have purchased two pairs of the Pulsar trail so far. Previously, I was wearing the Ultraglides, but switched to the Pulsar trail because of the energy blade. The toebox feels a slight bit smaller than the Ultraglides, but the energy blade prevents my small toes from hurting on long runs. Great trail shoes. I have worn them on many rocky runs through Tennessee and they do well on those trails. One improvement would be in the pouch for the lacing system. It is too high up and not really functional to hold the strap.

toe box for big toe slightly too small--the curve inward begins too early, making the big toe bend inward. Loved the shoe otherwise.

I only wear Salomon shoes for running in! I love the quality and durability of their shoes. These specific shoes are comfortable but found they run very large. I normally wear size 10, but had to return and order a 9, and even then, they are a little big. Cool color options!

I’ve worn Salomon Crosstrek 4 for years but when I ordered the same size in this Salomon shoe it was too big and unwearable. Had to send it back.

I really wanted to love these trail runners but they don't work for me. They are cut too high in the heel area and pinch my Achilles' tendon and rub my ankle bones. Also narrow in the toe box. I returned them immediately.

I bought these for running but they have moved to be my main shoe. I use these most of the time for long walks or days on my feet. I have very bad sciatica and I found these offer me enough support and comfort while also looking cool!

I have very narrow feet, loved the Salomon Speed Cross 5 and not the 6! They reduced the padding around the tongue and heal and I am so happy to find the Salomon Pulsar Trail. Please make more colors!!!

I used to run with the Sense Ride, but this shoe offers a softer feel and good cushioning and good grip. I really like them and will buy another pair

These shoes are ver comfortable and true to size. The lacing system is a super design and, if they hold up as long as my last pair of Salomon trail shoes, they will prove to be very durable. A wonderful product!

I bought these to use at the gym and they are so comfortable and they make walking fun now. I have also used them outside on miles long walks and they are great for both. I'm really happy with the performance and comfort of these.

I've been keeping an eye out for some affordable trail running shoes. These caught my eye! I'm very pleased with my purchase. I started wearing them during hikes and trail running, and now I just want to wear them everywhere! Bike riding, neighborhood walks, long walks. No blisters at all. The colors are also very appealing, and it is slick on the sides so when they get muddy, all they need is a quick rinse. Highly recommend.
