I got these for a RAGNAR trail race and only had a few days to break them in. No problems - they fit great and withstood lots of rough terrain. Appreciated the cushion and responsiveness - tough to get both.

Have been a 7 day a week trail or road runner for years and in the speedcross family for a long time. Bought these as a lightweight negative runner to balance out the speedcross 4,5,6 foot fatigue and am so happy with them. They are very lightweight and have good arch support. There is this ultra minimal heel cup that is AMAZING around the base of the achilles. There are a few "tweaks" that I'd make for the PD group.
1) I'd add a heel loop to help with getting them on/off as they are very soft.
2) I'd rework the friction in the lace pullsmost of the other pull strings, pull well, but I find that with these, I need to do a 3 stage pull (lower lace, mid lace and then on the full pulley).
3) Maybe consider a toe box liner to help with incoming dirt; my socks are filthy after running on dry dirt and my toes are banged up on roots/rocksbut on the road they're a perfect balance.

So far, 25 miles in these shoes are great. This is the first Salomon model that felt true to size (9.5 US) for me, otherwise they were always long and tight in the forefoot. I previously was running in Adidas Terrex Agravic Flow 2 and Adidas Terrex Speed Ultra (9.5 US). The forefoot has nice padding and the heal is snug.

This shoe has surprisingly soft midsole and it is very comfortable on longer runs even on hard surfaces. Makes your steps roll forward effortlesly. Upper feels light and comfortable and I really like the sock like collar and the quick lace system with the pouch.
Last is pretty narrow but the toe box luckily isn't too pointy.
It has pretty wide landing and especially wide heel with high stack makes it quite clumsy on "technical" trails. Ground feel is almost non existent.
Good for easy and buffed out trails or dirt roads.
Cannot say anything about durability since I only have run 130km with them. Shoes felt good right out of the box - no breaking in required (for me).

About 5 days before a trip to the National Parks, I was excited to purchase a Trail shoes. Thanks to Zappos quick shipping - I got it the next day and tried these puppies on. Super color but the fit is not for everyone. It wasn't for me. The sizing is my traditional size and foot room was expected. The Sock Like fit is what bothered me and what I assumed would cause long term blistering. Returned it the next day - happy for Zappos service.

I bought the shoe three months ago but only wore the shoe for a few times. The shoe fits well and comfortable. But it is extremely hard to put it on.
Is there any way to improve this? Please advise.

An avid runner friend encouraged I get these shoes. I find they don't have enough cushion and seem a little tippy. A wiide sole would help. Also have a narrow foot with high arch and the material around the ankle opens when the shoes flex allowing more dirt and debris to get in my shoes than I am used to. I appreciate the constant innovation from Soloman! I have many pairs of your footwear

These are my first trail running shoes. Great! But, the left shoe really rubs against a small bone on my my left foot. The lacing system from the inside is really robust snd it hearts to run. So, I'm not sure I can wear them on first 50k trail run. I'll try yo add some padding. Hope this helps. Otherwise I'm not suer whst yo do with shoes.

I contemplated buying the pulsar trail pro 2, salomon doesn't focus on wide foot but having read multiple reviews that the toe box is wider than other Salomon models I decided to purchase the shoe. I am a size 9 (men's) but went a half size down since I also read it ran a bit bigger and I am glad I did. I ordered a size 8.5 (men's) and it fit like a size 9. The size fit great. Right out the box, The aesthetics of the shoe looks phenomenal, loved the color (off white) look. I put the shoes on and it felt great. Once I took the shoe out the door and started running on the trails, 1 mile in I had to stop because the edge of outside of my foot started hurting bad. I knew that I may have to break them in and it would go away but after 30k of training no changes to experiencing pain from the sides of the foot. I also started getting big blisters at the bottom of my foot and that was where I was not happy with the shoe anymore. I really hope that someone from the Salomon design team can branch out and design a wider foot option for Salomon enthusiasts that support the Salomon mission.

The shoe feels great when running on smooth trails. As soon as the terrain gets a little rough, your heel pops out and you just about ruin the upper. Lacing is great, but you have to cut off the circulation to your toes to keep the shoe on. Won't be buying again.

Good shoe, comfortable, enjoy running in it. One issue is you can never wear thin socks with them. The lace holders dig into your feet and gave me blisters about 8 miles in. Problem does not happen with regular socks though. I just like a thin sock when I race.

After trying the standard Pulsar, I figured, why not?!? This shoe is really great with one exception. I have a narrow foot and these are still too narrow for me I think. ( Never been a problem ) I got blisters on the arch of my foot first 8 miles out. I'm trying some KT blister tape and I think it's ok... But why... why... why... Salomon, you keep making close to good, but with some serious errors.

This is a comfortable, springy, and fast shoe. Initially loved it until I got to some technical downhill. The heels easily collapse on this terrain. For most this would be a great shoe if you don't run any technical terrain.

I wanted to love this shoe. Felt great at first. Comfortable with a lot of spring. Felt really fast. A little understable on the more technical trails than I had hoped for. However I really enjoyed the ride in these. My only true complaint is the rubbing on the inside edge along the ball of my foot(both of them). So much so I can't continue running in these. Disappointing as this is the first pair of sneakers to do this me. I have roughly 130 miles on these. I've tried different socks and also tried taping my feet. Still seemed to rub quite a bit.

Have loved the shoe over 350km so far. Firm and propulsive. No issues with heel slippage and the upper keeps out debris.
Major gripe with wet weather however. When the shoes get wet, the insole slips and slides on any decline, eventually bunching up uncomfortably underfoot. This slipping insole feels incredibly slippery and unstable inside the foot, throwing off balance on technical or steep descents.
Additionally, on a recent steep and very damp fell run in the Lake District UK, the grip of the heel tread did not perform well when descending on wet grass or rocky surfaces.
Otherwise the tread performs exceptionally but I would skip these in the technical off trail steep stuff when wet.

I've been a long time fan of the Sense Ride, Ultra Glide, and recently the Pulsar Trail. The Pulsar Trail Pro is not like the others.
In particular, the heel cup is subtle and not adequately curved to cup your foot. This means you either have to crank the laces (ouch) or allow some slippage (ouch).
Moreover, the overall feel of this product is very different than other Salomons I know and love. These feel like your foot is ON TOP of the shoe, not INSIDE the shoe. On technical trails, that means ankle turns are more frequent and that I can't trust my footing as much as, say, the Sense Ride. My feet just don't feel planted inside and that dramatically reduces my confidence on anything beyond gravel.
All that being said, these shoes look gorgeous and the tread is deeper and more grippy than the regular Pulsar Trail.
I just wish the fit... Fit.

I wanted to like these shoes. I have a pair of the Pulsar Trails and they are one of my favorite shoes. The design is great and I think all Salomon trail shoes should have the soft, sock like collar. The midfoot support hugged my feet and felt good. But, the toe box felt bigger than my other Salomon shoes (Ultra Glide, Pulsar Trail, S/Lab Ultra). I wear a size 11.5 in all the shoes listed above, but 11.5 in this felt like my foot was sliding, toes and heels. Just wasn't my shoe.

Agree with the reviews that this is not for technical trails. I purchased this shoe expecting a more robust version of the original Pulsar but seemed to be a step back. There is a lot more cushion added which was nice, but my heel was constantly slipping around the back of the shoe making it a risk for some ankle hurt. I even went a half size down and had the same issue. Granted, if you're wanting a shoe to be fast on flat, graded trail, it was FAST and has a lot of spring. I just didn't feel confident once there was any camber or rocks/roots on the trail. In my option, not a good trade off with the stack height. Good shoe, just not what I was expecting.

I continue to buy Salomon trail shoes because of how much I'm in love with the S/Lab Ultra 3 but unfortunately keep coming up short. Of course this is just my experience with the shoes and won't be the case for everyone.
Aesthetically, the Pulsar Trail Pro shoe is so sexy in the blue, really love the look and the redesigned logo. They certainly have a great spring to them and can see myself enjoying runs in them, if the fit was right.
Unfortunately the toe box is too small for my feet. I ended up taking them for a few runs to test (was probably lying to myself) and that confirmed my fears. For reference, I wear a US13 in the S/Lab 3 which fit perfectly. I bought the same size in the Pulsar Trail Pro and putting them side by side you can see the difference. I don't know that sizing up to a 14 would fix this, perhaps.
