The Pulsar Trail Pro was absolutely worth purchasing! This is a great all around shoe that I use when I want to go fast on mixed terrain. It's light weight, stable, and fast. The blade isn't noticable, but I get great turnover speed for sure. I wouldn't use these on a muddy day, but they'll do for everything else.

Version one of this shoe has been my absolute favorite all around shoe and version 2 is the same great feel. Small changes to the upper make it slightly better, but overall it's really similar, which in this case, is a very good thing. This is a true mid/fore foot runners shoe. It is made for landing efficiently on your mid/fore foot and excels at keeping you up on your toes and propelling you forward. It's fun, nimble, and a super comfortable upper that fits my foot great. It's not made for super technical terrain or side hilling with the built in plate but it does surprisingly well on technical terrain that I thought would feel very clunky on. But it really excels on smooth terrain, cruising through the forest or desert on singletrack and doubletrack. This shoe continues to be my main daily trainer.

First off, the marmalade color looks rad on the trails and we all know colors make you faster. These shoes feel like a blend of the S/Lab Sense 8 , S/Lab Ultra 3, and Ultra Glide. All of which rock, but miss some boxes. It grabs the more plush softness from the Ultra Glide, the stiff and responsive sole from the S/Lab Ultra 3, and a very similar lightweight upper from the S/Lab Sense 8. I tested these a couple times on some rocky local trails and liked them enough to race in them at Moab Trail Marathon this past fall and was very impressed by them. I have a very narrow foot and at first these felt like the upper was going to be loose, but with a little lacing patience, the upper hugs down on your foot and the shoe feels secure even on off-camber rocky sections or loose/fast cornering. The upper ended up folding over a bit under the laces for me, but unlike some other shoes where I could feel the extra material on top of my foot, I didn't notice it at all with the Pulsar Trail Pro's. I still love my S/Lab Ultra 3's, but the Pulsar Trail Pro's may edge them out as my new favorites. They've even been working well as a winter road trainer on snowier days.

loving these. the blade system is pretty noticeable. I will say the color is much more orange than the site photo (looks more like a muddy yellow on site) leads you to believe.

This shoe can handle anything you throw at it. Obviously it's designed for speed and it excels at sub 8/min paces but can handle training runs as well. Only used them on highly technical trails in North Carolina and although not the most stable shoe in the Salomon lineup, any experienced trail runner should have no problem staying upright in these.

These shoes are amazingly balanced. I've put about 50 miles on them so far on dusty hard pack, muddy and slick bits, rocky technical etc etc and the shoe is nimble and secure feeling. The cushioning is effective and lively without feeling spongy. The lace pocket is easy to access and the outsole (My only complaint with the ultra 3's) is sticky and also importantly durable! No lost lugs after only one run. I hope they do a comparable outsole one the ultra 3's in the future. Kudos to Salomon for getting the balancing act right and designing this fantastic shoe!

I've worn a number of trail running models from Salomon (and tons and tons from other shoe companies) and these are some of my favorite trail running shoes I've ever owned. (I bought a second pair immediately.) The plate does a great job of protecting your foot from intruding rocks and I felt springy in them, though couldn't actually feel any spring from the shoe itself when I concentrated on it. I suppose that's a good thing. They are light and super breathable and they laced down well on my narrow foot (though they seem to be willing to accommodate a wider foot with no issues, too). The sock lining is awesome at keeping out debris--a la the S/Lab Ultras--although you do need to wear a sock that covers your ankle lest they rub a bit. These are just super great running shoes. I log about 40-60mi per week on mostly technical trails in the Eastern Sierra. These and the S/Lab Ultras are my complete quiver. (I like the S/Lab Ultras for super technical trails and racing as they are more sensitive and nimble.)

I'm fortunate to live in an area of Southern California with all types of terrains to run on - flat roads, hilly roads, gentle sloped trails, and some very technical trails with steep rocky hills and lots of twists and turns that are quite challenging. I have a fairly large collection of road and trail running shoes and currently rotate between 7 different trail runners, with the Pulsar Trail Pro being a very recent addition. Looking over the specs, I knew what I was getting and I didn't buy the Pulsar Trail Pro for running technical trails; I have other great shoes for doing that. The Pulsar Trail Pro is great for graded hard-packed trails over gentle hills with relatively mild inclines and declines, which I run at least once per week at a brisk pace for around 90 minutes. For this type of running, the Pulsar Trail Pro performs admirably. The fit is superb although I sized up for this one to wear with thicker socks. It's half-size larger than what I would normally wear but it ended up working out really good for the type of run I was looking to get from these shoes. It's very comfortable with a glove-like fit on the upper and the high-stack cushion on the dry hard-packed trails. It feels fairly light and is good for straight-ahead long-distance running on mixed terrains. Having put in around 20 miles now, I'm very happy with the Pulsar Trail Pro and I expect to use it once per week on the type of trail that it seems to have been designed for. The midsole stack is too high for maneuvering on technical trails at high speeds and I don't even want to try that. But, for long distance straight ahead trail and mixed terrains running, the Pulsar Trail Pro would be hard to beat due to the combination of fit, comfort, and the energy return it provides.

I bought these shoes to replace my worn out Ultra/Pros, since the Pulsar Trail appears to be the next evolution of that shoe. My assumption seems to be correct because the fit, comfort, and design are very similar, only the Pulsar Trail has a bit more stack underfoot. Even though the cushion is a few mm more, because of the spring blade in between the two foams you still get a nice poppy return with each step while also getting a nice cushiony landing. I've always been hesitant with maximal cushion shoes because I prefer a good ground feel on trail, especially technical trails. Somehow the Pulsar Trail achieves both a max cushioned shoe with excellent ground feel. I ran a trail ten miler right out of the box and it was like I had been running in these shoes for over 100 miles already. The fit is just that precise, feels like that trusty pair of shoes you've always loved. Sizing seems to be true to fit; I have a low volume narrow foot so I always order a half size down in Salomon than I do from other popular shoe manufacturers.

Bought the Ciele edition of these after running in Ultra Glides for the last couple of pairs. Compared to the Ultra Glides, significantly more stable and responsive. The upper is unique but extremely comfortable and is adaptable to foot expansion for longer efforts. Importantly (for me anyways) these shoes are a lot of fun to run in. They have a lot of pop and are very forgiving, a good combo. Also plenty of traction and drain quickly. I have both run very fast tempo trail efforts in these and a recent 100mi trail race with no hot-spots, blisters, or discomfort whatsoever. New favorite, will be buying more now that the non-pink-cheetah-print version is available.

I have been running in these for a month, 240 km, booth in dry and wet conditions. I love Pulsar SG on dry, shorter runs, but these one you can use on both short and long runs, dont matter if its dry or wet. My new favourite!

After just one test run of 10 miles, I was so impressed I took the decision to risk racing in these at the UTS100. It turned out to be right choice with the Pulsars proving comfortable, secure and nimble on the most unforgiving terrain. With mid-range grip they'll handle all but the harshest muddy terrain on steep descents. The energy blade technology is a revelation, bringing this cutting edge tech to the trails. Not a blister in sight after the race, but a new firm favourite in my shoe arsenal.

The only downside with these is that they are incredibly hard to get on and off. I have to use a shoehorn and it's still very difficult! After battling to get them on they are very comfortable

Not 5 stars because I do not do ANY trail running. Otherwise love this shoe. Looks great. Feels great. Can walk around all day with no foot fatigue. Fits snugly. I wear 11.5 normally and the sizing is outstanding. For all the reasons to own this shoe other than running over to me and tree branches on dirt paths I am would highly recommend them.

So after taking some time to break them in i quite like these. I hoped they would be more like the slab pulsar but they really feel different. For me they are a bit too stiff in midsole not sure what is gained with the plate if anything creates instability, IMO they should lose it & save some weight. Arguably there is also a bit too much shoe, the upper is quite stiff. Some will probably welcome the protection & durability but personally I tend to avoid incidents on the trail with lighter shoes & don't need that much protection. The fit is a bit better than the slab pulsar although very narrow midfoot again i'm not able to tie the quick laces too tight because of the narrow midfoot & then the lock down in the heal is not so great. Initially i had an issue in the little toe area because there is not much volume i got a blister. This seems to be no longer be an issue with thinner insoles & bedding them in & softening them up. But why make it so tight when they could just add a bit more volume here? Apart from these issues it a good trail shoe, the midsole is good on non technical & I just wish there was a model of shoe between the slab pulsar & this of & the new colours are a bit meh seems Salomon is catering for American tastes in the styling & seem to have hired HOKA designers. They make ugly shoes so please stop.

Once I have the shoe on it is great, good cushion, light and durable, I use it for trail running.Issues I have with the shoe: 1) it fits like a glove and I have a hard time physically trying to get my foot in the shoe . First shoe I need to sit down to get on, lol, old man! 2) first time I wore the shoe for a run I had on a thin pair of merino socks. The tongue type material bunch's up on my and the thin sock allows me to feel these bunched up layers of material on the top of my foot, almost rubbing, didn't feel good. Since then I switched to a medium weight / thicker sock, no problem. The medium weight sock protects my foot against this rub.
