This is my forth pair of Salomon boots. I bought them as a replacement for my XA Pro 3D V8 GTX shoes. After a couple of hikes here are my thoughts. First, they are very comfortable and require minimal break-in... but this is the usual for Salomon. Second, the soles are very grippy and comfortable (I don't feel rocks etc. as much as I do with the Ultra3X Mids). Third - as reported elsewhere they don't provide much ankle support. Forth - they use conventional laces rather than speed ties - (this is a HUGE plus). They are excellent in mud and sand and easy hills. They are not suitable for multi-day trekking over technical terrain. I would rate these boots as decent replacements for my Salomon hiking shoes (with a bit extra steam crossing ability) but not a replacement for my boots. So I would rate these boots as an adequate replacement for my XA Pro hiking shoes, but they are not a replacement for proper Salomon boots. I will use these for day hikes in the jungle. I will continue to use my X Ultra 3 Mids for more technical approaches and I will relay on my Quest 4 GTXs for multiple day treks in serious terrain.

This shoe has surprised me. Living in the North East you always want a waterproof shoe. I wasn't quite sure at first because it's not leather. It is a great shoe and true to size. As I get older I look for ease of getting in and out of shoes. I also want the shoe to be light weight. Plus, it has great traction. The neoprene cuff gives you a little more stability and protection around your ankle. I don't know when retailers split the mens and women's shoe colors. But, I wish mens shoe colors weren't so "blah". The color patterns that shoe companies use these days need some re-tooling. Great shoe for what I needed.

I had been looking for a pair of lightweight, well made, comfortable, trail/hike hybrid (good looking) boots for ages. Have tried on a lot of different styles from various manufacturers, including Salomon - these fit the bill. These are exactly what I have been looking for - you can see how well made they are, and they are incredibly comfortable - they have the soft feel of trainers, but the support of light hikers. I had a much harder time finding a good pair of lightweight light trail boots, than I did finding a boot that meets more demanding trails. I have a feeling I would be happy wearing these on all but the toughest trails though - my feet don't fatigue in the Outpulse Mids. I tried the Predict hike mid, but they didn't work for me, for a variety of reasons - including how hot they got inside the boot. I was expecting these to be a bit too hot inside the boot too due to the similar GTX liner, but they are absolutely fine. The only minor, monr negative is that they are a bit of a squeeze to put them on, but when they are on, the UK 8.5 fit my UK 8 1/4 feet perfectly. Awesome - very pleased! BTW, Salomon customer services are excellent - keep up the great work!

I love the new color. It reminds me of Pistachio Ice Cream. Took the Out Pulse hiking. Light green shoes dirty. The dirt made the shoes look better. The balance, stability, and compression make the shoe better. This is the high quality shoe. Gore tex with a good price from the Outlet.

Salomon's never disappoint. Great fit, grip and material to keep your feet supported and dry.

Got these after returning the ultra4's because the material jams into my toe joint when walking. These however were perfect right away. No break in. No pain. Laces are a little long but I just wrap them around the anchors 3 times and it makes it a secure fit for me. I got black on 12/23 but I don't see it anymore because I referred a friend to these. Sure hope they're not phasing these out.

Great fit and comfort for fall hikes. These are waterproof and have some warm to them.

I bought these as a present for my son who now goes everywhere in them as he says they're very very comfortable. On a recent ski trip he found them to be very sure footed on snow and even ice.

I normally get 9.5wide (speedcross) shoes but usually neutral can work and these do. Right out the box they feel comfortable with nice padding around the ankle. Started walking and the material around the toe joints is flexible without pressure spots from bending. I would like more aggressive laces and anchors but these are walk around winter shoes for me anyways since the overall appearance is less "Salomon" and more casual neutral.

These were a gift for my son, he loves them!! Where's them a lot! Very comfortable!

I live in San Diego, but was going to Madison, WI for a week over Thanksgiving and wanted something waterproof and a bit warmer to be able to walk around in and play a few rounds of disc golf. Normally I wear my Supercross for disc golf around here. I didn't want to buy a legit/heavy rain/snow boot/shoe because I'd never wear them here at home, so I went with these. I wore them to Madison as the only shoe I was bringing. They were super comfortable on the streets and great on the disc golf courses (played twice). Good grip. We did have some rain, and temps down to the high 20's, and they kept me warm and dry. There was no snow, and these are obviously not serious snow boots/shoes, but I was confident they would have been fine in light snow duty. Since I've been back, I've worn them out disc golfing here, and they're comfortable. I will continue to use Super/Speedcross for trail running here, but I could imagine running in these if necessary, they are that light. I'm not a hiker, really, preferring to run, but these would be wonderful hikers. Fit is a little looser than my Speed/Supercross, perhaps because they are expecting thicker hiking socks? Still, I don't think I'd go half-size smaller... but I can feel a little less snugness than in my other Salomons at the same size.

I wear these shoes at work everyday. Im a delivery driver so im on my feet all day and walk in a large variety of ground. Great support and lightweight. Super comfortable. It always protects by all the elements outside.

Great putdoor shoe. I use then to walk around town and hike on trails. They offer good support and aren't overly soft, so you don't have that sloppy feel as you walk. The grip is good, and they do keep your feet dry. They have been great.

Nice light shoe . The laces look like they might not last too long.I have a long narrow foot and use arch supports and the fit is really good.

Great shoe design for work and the trail , actually this shoe performs well at the driving range also, great grip for golfing.

I love this shoe for the Pacific NW. Great for winter time and good traction in snow and ice.

I was so impressed with these. I'm a trail runner but eventually go hiking and wanted something that would be reliable yet lightweight. Most times I completely forget I'm using boots. They are so light I do short runs on them on my hikes. Oh and the goretex works great too
