I only.gave these 4 star just because the laces don't really secure well. I don't know how to explain it but I've definitely had laces that hold a single knot much better than these. That's my only remark. Otherwise I'm really pleased.

Received these as a replacement for my other shoes that were coming apart. Bit tight to get on and stiff at first but seem to be loosening up a bit now

These were a warranty replacement for my other pair that were not waterproof any longer with only being one year old. They are very comfortable, a little wider than my last pair. So far so good only had them a month or so. Really have to unlace them to get them on and off and the laces are way too long, thinking of getting shorter ones. Hope they hold up better than my last pair which were my first pair of salomon boots.

Poor SupportGreat Support
Too snug at the top of the tongue, the tightness/lack of give of the gtx liner made on/off uncomfortable and disqualified all but the thinnest of socks.
Looked great and felt sublime once on the foot, but ultimately had to return.

Consider ordering half size bigger as they are. Little tight - narrow- but otherwise very comfortable and supportive

Just purchased a pair of these about 3 weeks ago and so far I'm loving them! A nice cross between a boot and hiking sneaker, while still keeping it fashionable. The ankle support is a little bit lower than the standard hiking boot, but I find it to be a nice mid-ground, but could see issues if you have a particular need for ankle support. Overall, I've been wearing these all day and at work, and my feet have never once been an issue

I've come to these from a 5 pair run of X Ultra 3 mids, wide fit. I loved those boots. Averaging 500-650 sport hike miles per year over the various terrains and all weathers of the Western Pennines and West Yorkshire, UK. I'm not yet many miles into my first pair of OutPulse mids, but I'm very impressed so far. Grip, mud shedding, and temperature control is on par with the X Ultra 3's (very very good). The wear rate of the tread appears on par with the Ultra 3's (very good). The cushioning of the sole is wonderful. It's not running shoe soft, but is a good improvement in comfort over the Ultra 3's, which I already found excellent. There's a little welcome pop of rebound with every step, particularly from the heel area as you roll onto the ball of your foot. The sole is cushioned/protective enough to prevent jagged/pointed rocks, cobbles and stones from digging into the sole of your foot. It's a very comfortable ride.
Regarding the width of the toe box, it seems a little wider than the regular Ultra 3's, and marginally narrower than the Ultra 3 wide fits. I've fallen lucky as they're just where I'd want them in terms of width by the time my feet have swollen during a hike. I'm a size 11UK and Ultra 3 mid wide fits weighed 506g per boot. The OutPulse in a size 11UK weigh 443g per boot.
Minor annoyances, the laces are a little too long, so without a hodge-podge of knots, run the risk of catching the hook of the opposite boot. Also, being a flat profile lace and flat profile loops, making the fit snug towards the toe end is awkward and difficult to achieve. Entry and egress is quite a squeeze too, again because the flat profile laces don't slide when you try to widen the tongue aperture.
Hopefully they're durable and last as well as the Ultra 3's. I was averaging between 650 and 750 miles per pair with those. These are made with a completely different construction, and materials I'm not familiar with. I'll stay hopeful they'll do the mileage and certainly have no cause for concern this far. Mine are the blue, orange and tan colourway.

In more rugged terrain they may come untied causing other issuesFind a workaround for this problem and you have a 5 Star rating.Pvis

Only reason these get a 4 star is because I found that they were a little warm. Otherwise these are exceptional shoes. A bit wider across the forefoot than the Outline or Speedcross 3 or 4. Functional support and traction, all on par with what I expected. I wish there was a non-waterproof version for summer!

I got these as replacement shoes and just over an year of just doing the weekend walks the upper, where is joins the rubber part of shoe, I noticed a tearing apart. The sole is still intact but what's the use of a good sole if the upper no longer is wearable. The previous shoes had similar issue which was replaced by this pair

Good quality trail boot, but not as comfortable like they said they are. I wish Salomon makes new hiking boots with plush midsole comfort like Hoka. That would be a game changer for Salomon.

Design Flaw in these shoes. The actual opening in the top of the shoe through which one is supposed to put their foot is TINY. I mean SMALL. I'm not kidding you when I say I almost could not get the shoe on, even with thin socks. As you can imagine, there's no way I was going keep a pair of shoes that difficult to get on and off....On the flip side, my wife purchased the shoe in a "women's" model and she raves about them. I can't help but think this opening being so small is a mistake.

I bought these to replace a different pair of Salomon shoes - where a seem on the heel tore the second time I wore them, just walking around town. I decided to try these instead, and when they first arrived I loved them - great fit, awesome on the trail, just enough support - loved them.
But then, after only two relatively easy hikes -- totalling only 12km -- I was shocked to see the toe-box coming apart. Even more disappointing considering these were already a replacement for a previously faulty pair from Salomon. I don't know what's changed... but I have had at least half a dozen pairs of Salomon shoes over the last 15 years - putting thousands of kms of hard trail hiking/running miles on them - and I've never had them let me down like this. I really hope this was just bad luck and I got a couple of duds in a row...

The is the first Solomon shoe that hasn't had too narrow of a toe box. It's even got extra support around the toe box for foot splay under load. Super lightweight. I had wanted the Forces Mid but it was either heel slip or too narrow at the toes. These fit amazing. My only gripe is with how awful they look. I would have returned had I not covered them in mud the same day I bought them. I picked up some olive and grey dye hoping to figure something out. Looks like I'm wearing Jordans on the trail. Kinda silly. Darker colors and a non-GTX version please.

I really like Salomon shoes and boots. I have several pair and use them daily for hiking, running, and generally wearing around. These have been a disappointment. They don't fit the same as most of my other Salomons. They are a bit loose, and have a lot of room, despite how tightly I lace them. Also, the ankle support is non-existent, they may as well be a low-cut. I bought them for easy hikes, but after a few hikes, I know I will not wear them for hiking again. The soles have great traction, but they don't provide the same support or feeling of confidence I have with my other Salomons.

The shoe is comfortable and good looking. However, the laces don't go up high enough on the ankle and the result is the tongue is loose at the top and flops outward.

I have had the trail running version of this (no longer on the website) for less than a year now and both shoes have tears in the fabric (in the same spot) with minimal use. The shoes are comfortable, but definitely not durable. I've had other pairs of Salomon before, so I am very disappointed with this purchase.

As a hiking shoe they are sturdy enough but as for being marketed as waterproof this is a bit of a false representation, they should be described as water resistant. Any short length of time submerged in water & you will end up with wet feet even after retreating with a gore tex approved waterproofer.

I bought these shoes a month ago and have been trying everything to break them in. I have at least 5 different types of Salomon shoes and all have fit me fine, or easily stretched. I like the shoe but beware if you have wide feet.

These boots 'fit' fine, but after taking the dog for a easy 2 mile walk, my achilles was sore and fatigued along with the rest of my leg. There is a weird pressure point from the tongue as well as the top of the collar on thr backside, forcing your leg forward and preventing your ankle from returning to a neutral 90 degree angle. If I was ONLY walking uphill maybe these would be ok. I have a lot of boots, and have owned a lot of boots, and I've never experienced anything like this. I'm a bit skeptical of the amount of positive reviews these have.
