First time I wore it we went out to eat and when i went to sit down the corner of the table caught the pocket and it tore it the table had no sharp edges seems like the material was cheap.

Could not wear it as it runs a size too small. Too tight fitting in the chest. LL Bean used to have dependable quality, but now their sizes are all over the place. They need to exert quality control over their made-in-China products.

I've had my Penobscot parka from LL Bean for over 20 years and it was time to replace it. I chose this coat even though it wasn't orange like my previous coat because it had snaps over the zipper and had a smooth lining which I hoped would make it easier to wear things like a fleece under it. I took the fur collar off. The sleeves are tight when I wear more than just a turtleneck. I ordered a size larger than my old LL Bean coat that fits over layers hoping that that would make this coat fit better over layers. It still feels snug when I wear a sweatshirt or fleece under it. It is heavier than my previous coat. The pockets are nice. I'm not sure I'm going to keep it, the jury is still out since I have hung on to my old coat and choose to wear it sometimes still. I'd love to have LL Bean bring back the Penobscot Parka.

I'm a little disappointed in this jacket. It's very thin, so not very warm. The hood is apparently for aesthetics only, as it's not very functional. And the worst part? It collects and holds lint, dust, and everything else in the air. I bought a jacket similar to this one at a fraction of the price from a different retailer; that one, I prefer. The LL Bean name doesn't really mean a lot anymore. Except where pricing is concerned, I guess. I'm fairly certain this is the last item I will purchase from LL Bean. I'm a Mainer, but LL Bean is not for Mainers anymore; it's for out-of-state tourists. :(

I love that this jacket has a two way zipper which , so far, is working well. Weight is good, not sure how it will do when the temperatures drop more but it is roomy enough to layer.
The hood doesn't fit well at all so it is good that it can be zipped off. I have adjusted it multiple times but it still flops over my eyes and obstructs vision. Pretty much useless !

Fabulous pockets. Love snaps plus zipper. Nice fabric. Unfortunately the fit didn't work for me. L too snug, XL too big in hips,. Also these LL Bean hoods all fall down over my eyes with no way to keep them back. Returned.

I love the design of this coat, exactly what I was looking for to replace a worn out parka. I normally wear large but the sleeves were snug with only a long sleeve t-shirt and the front opening was crooked and off center when closed at the neck. I wanted to exchange it for an XL but was not in stock and not expected until June? So got a refund and will keep an eye on this item hoping that an XL will fit better and will not be flawed!

Looks 5 years old upon purchase. I wanted a quality coat. Fake fur falls out of hood as well. Not a $200.00 coat. Returned it.

The hood is huge. Really huge. The warmth rating is accurate, so not for really cold days.

The color is a bit dusty, not the greatest black. Also the fabric attracts all kind of minute lint and needs lint rolling frequently. I will still keep it though, I like the weight, the cut is nice, and the hood is great.

After 10 years and some added weight, I had to say goodbye to my Northwoods Parka. Unfortunately, I missed the timing and LL Bean doesn't have a comparable water resistant parka with the same warmth index. I took the chance and got this instead.
I'm...whelmed. It'll work I suppose and I'll wear it, meh. I love the burgundy color and it'll be my everyday jacket. It'll get me through most Virginia cold days. I followed the size chart and felt the sizing was correct.
But the shape is really odd. It adds this bell shape to my hips and makes my hips look exaggerated rather than flattering. The shoulders and chest are fitted while the lower half is too roomy for it to look sleek. I am not a fan of faux fur hood details and immediately removed it, and am grateful that it's easy to just unzip and be done with it.
I'm tired and burnt out on returns, so I'm tolerating the parka and keeping it. I'm sure it'll be warm enough for what I need for autumn and most of winter. Fingers crossed it fits underneath.
But yeah. I'm bummed. Maybe in 10 years, I'll get the timing right and find a new perfect jacket for me.

I have been looking for years for a replacement zip and snap, 6 exterior pocket coat to replace an old London Fog one I had for several decades. I love the overall design of this coat( minus the faux fur, which does zip off), but a few items made it a return item for me:
1) Too tight in the shoulders; going up a size will not work as the sleeves would be too long (the arms have snap adjustments only; I do not have overly petite arms despite having a petite body); definitely "fitted" versus "slightly fitted" in the upper part of the coat
2) The upper pockets are way to shallow; they will not even hold a pair of gloves without slipping out
3) The interior pocket is just a snap pocket, not a zipper, so it is not as secure especially when you taking the coat off
4) I would rather have a material that is more water resistant than this appears it would be
The search for the perfect coat continues!

I ordered this on sale and in black...the black is more if a faded black rather than a deep rich black as expected. The Parka fit well and looked nice on....however the wind resistance is not accurate. I wore for the first time last weekend to an evening football game where it was 54 degrees and slight breeze, and could feel the wind come straight through the coat. It also did not keep me as warm as I expected/ I have plenty of Bean Coats that are great but this one is not.

Ordered my usual size and it's tight in the shoulders. Also, the fabric is soft but somehow the structure of the jacket is uncomfortable. I love the orange color, disappointed to have to return.

I love this parka but I have to return it. It's warm, it has some nice features like an inside cuff in the sleeves, soft hood "fur." I wish I could keep it but it has some design flaws. The zipper absolutely will not close. It's a double zipper and the parts will not line up. I have tried at least 500 times to zip it shut. The other issue is the buttons are too big for the buttonhole (or the buttonhole is too small for the button!).

Easily rips. I barely caught some metal in the barn and the jacket got a hole.

Positives first..Much longer in back, patch pockets, snaps and zipper, adjustable waist. Negatives: burgundy color is darker than expected and more maroon color. Size M feels like size S on top. Odd shaping, tighter on top, looser on bottom. Light cotton jacket, not a winter coat

I've had this coat for a few weeks. It's definitely meant for lighter days (above freezing temps) and is very cute. However, it's not very durable as I had my hand in my pocket and my dog on a leash when my dog pulled me slightly and the pocket is now ripped at the edge. It may be fixable, but should not have happened in the first place. I bought this specifically for wearing while taking my dog out and I now would not recommend it for that purpose.

If you have gigantic hips and a tiny chest, this coat might be for you. Otherwise pass. The styling was really nice, so I wish the cut had been better. While the chest and shoulders fit, the bottom half was so wide and flared that it looked silly.

I was trying to replace a snow parka from LLBean from 20 years ago. This is not made nearly as well. No internal cuffs to sleeves, only 1 pocket inside, and outside pockets are oddly placed if you like to walk with hands in pockets. Also runs small, will be hard to layer.

The style of this coat is nice and I liked the two way zipper but it's not warm at all. My fleece sweatshirt is a lot warmer than this coat. It must be for a Florida winter and not here in PA. It's very thin and doesn't have much lining. The coat seems to run small but the hood is huge. It's to expensive for such a thin coat and very disappointing. Needless to say it's going back.

Not as warm as expected. No adjustable string at the hem to block wind and cold, add more shape. I look like a box in it. Returning purchase.
