Evening blue is too green for me; fit was perfect.

I've had this jacket for about 2 months now and I've noticed that the top chest part and back, as it's a different material has been pilling.? Not sure what is causing this but it's extremely frustrating to have happen to a $250 jacket?

I have decades of positive experiences with LLBean products, so I was bummed that the women's mountain parka has disappointing design and fit quirks.
Lack of any adjustment mechanism on hood left hood nearly covering my eyes. Given that a winter parka should allow for vision in bright sun to wind-driven snow, skipping a simple loop/ toggle device on hood seems like a whoops-we-forgot. Next, while the skirt-like flare at hem may be intended to allow for ease of seating (??), it's more like a giant wind scoop (there is a toggle waist adjustment). Finally - and this is a frequent fitting issue in larger womens sizes - the chest darts incorporated to accomodate womens' breasts are not where breasts are (headed for armpits!), so resulting vacant fabric stands out there.
The assembly and materials all appear to be fine and I expect the parka would perform well, but I'm
returning it, primarily due to poor hood design, secondly the too-wide hem.

Very nice coat but the pockets are just too shallow. My phone barely fits and my gloves have fallen out numerous times.

Rates a 4-5 for warmth, but would be much better if it had deeper pockets on the outside and big pockets on the inside. Really no place for cell phone to be carried safely, without possibility of falling out.

I was looking to replace a Bean coat I've had for 10 years and which I still wear. Unfortunately, this coat is uncomfortable to drive in and difficult to snap the closures over the zipper. It's warm and the color is beautiful but I'm going to return it.

I'm shocked none of the reviews mentioned the wrist cuffs being too tight. So tight there's really no need for the strap and 2 buttons TO MAKE IT TIGHTER! Planning on wearing gloves? If they have any kind of fabric past wrist, forget it. I was considering removing the elastic on the cuff, but like the strap and buttons, it serves no purpose, the wrist cuff would still be exactly same. Guess this was strictly for aesthetics. Sleeves are short. I think my arms are about normal for my 5'6" height.
Warmth level is listed as almost warmest which is laughable. The fit is just strange. Length is ok, could have added an inch but with every company practicing cost cutting these days. Every inch of fabric counts right.
Feathers are visibly coming out at the seams which makes me think it would not hold up in a short gentle wash cycle when the time comes. Just a huge disappointment.
I can't get over the sleeve cuffs..it's going back.

I absolutely love this jacket but I'll be returning it because the pockets are just not deep enough. There are two pockets on each side and they don't have the depth to hold much. If you have your keys, gloves and your phone in there, something will fall out. It's also hard to snap the pocket with those things in there. I didn't realize how much a deep pocket matters to me until I had my cell phone fall out. I'm bummed to return it because it's perfect in every other way.

I LOVE this coat. I found it in my favorite color, and it was warm, flattering, and comfortable for cold Minnesota winters. However, I ended up returning because the pockets were a deal breaker. The snaps are so tricky to do with gloves or mittens on. The pockets themselves are so shallow that a phone will not comfortably fit in there without risk of falling out. I wanted to love it. I wanted to keep it, but ultimately I ended up returning and am back on the hunt for a winter jacket.

It seems to run small, I bought the large so I could wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath and it's a bit tight in the shoulders, I have the Baxter state parka also and I feel it's warmer and the fit is better

It's warm, a good length (covers the butt). The hood is connected with buttons that do not stay fastened. It's infuriating. I'm debating super gluing them. It also came with Carmex in the pocket.

I like this coat. It's true to size and warm but the detachable hood is a nightmare. I want to order a new one but just can't deal with the hood coming unsnapped all the time. It's not simple to re-attach.

I got the Petite size. Usually I get a Regular size but I'm 5'3 " and thought the length might be better in the Petite. I'm pretty sure that would make no difference in the shoulder width. In any case, I really liked this coat except the shoulders were way too tight even though it fit elsewhere.
I also wish the sleeve cuff was more like an elastic band instead of the adjustable velcro strap so it would keep snow and cold out better.
I LOVED that it had the two-way front zipper! That's the first thing I always look for. Overall, it weren't for the tight shoulders, it would have been great, but I had to send it back.

Nice and warm, but the zipper is too close to the seam, so it gets caught in the inner flap and is a struggle to get it up, especially from the bottom. The snaps are nearly impossible to snap. Not enough pockets and they're way too shallow to retain gloves, and certainly not a phone. Not sure if I'll keep this coat.

I love the look of this coat and it is very warm. But every time I picked it up the hood snapped off. Even if I was just pulling the hood up to cover my head, the hood snapped off. Really annoying and too high maintenance, and caused me to return. I would have kept if the snaps were better or if the hood was sewn on or secured with a zipper.

I returned this coat because the body fit well, but upper arms were tight. The coat was a size XL, but the diameter of the coat's upper sleeves were the same as the size L coat. The design of the sleeves also didn't allow a lot of movement. I'm an active person and I have to move my arms. It was difficult just trying to steer my car while wearing the coat. I was afraid I tear out the sleeves if I tried to do anything vigorous.

This coat is warm but has an awkward fit overall. When you sit it puffs up in the middle area, not a great look. The pockets are extremely shallow. Cell phone has fallen out many times. I'll now only be wearing this coat in snow/very cold weather.

The parka fits well and is comfortably warm. My issues are that the pockets are too small for storing gloves or a phone. Also the hood snaps are not very secure. I use a crossbody purse and it gets caught on the edges of the hood when I remove the bag and easily takes the hood off.

I like the shape and warmth of this coat, but my biggest issue with it is the snaps on the hood. They are fairly flimsy plastic snaps compared to the metal pocket snaps so the hood comes partially unsnapped almost every time I wear it. I like the coat, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I tried this on - a 35 degree day - and walked a sort distance to my mailbox. My back was cold by the time I reached it.

I've been hunting for a new winter coat and liked a lot about this one. But the pockets are so small, shallow, and poorly angled that my phone and keys fell out. It was enough of a problem that I sent it back even though the shape was flattering, the color was nice, and a petite XXS actually fit me (I'm 5' and 105 pounds and find many XS and even XXS sizes to be too big).

I LOVE this mountain classic coat, from the fit to the functionality of all the pockets. I purchased it a few years ago, but needed a new size (my original size was S). I ordered the M, but to my suprise, the coat was EXACTLY the same size as the small, and I needed room for bulky layers. So I purchased once more, and the Large arrived today. The size is very roomy, but the coat is different from my original jacket. It feels like the quality went down--it's lighter, not as puffy, and there's just something about it that feels cheaper in quality. I'm disappointed in the new model, but since many reviewers still affirm its warmth, I may keep it. Just miss my old coat, lol.

I wore this coat for the first time today and was a bit disappointed. The pockets are shallow. Being there are only two pockets in the whole coat, I would think they would be deeper. They are also unlined, and the snaps that close them are riveted to the thing outer material and I foresee that they will easily tear the coat in that area over time. I honestly would not have bought this coat if I had known about the shallow depth of the pockets. On the positive, it is warm and the zipper is sturdy and smooth working. The wrist cuffs are a bit hard to maneuver to position gloves inside the cuffs. It is quite difficult to make work with bulky gloves.
