I had been looking at this jacket for over a year and thought it would be just what I need. The quality was good but the sizing was off. It was large in the body with small sleeves and very small armholes. I couldn't have worn a light weight sweater with it! I had to return it.

I originally got the kelp green but it came stained :( so I reach out to customer service who was amazing at helping me! They send out a new jacket and it arrived two days later!!! I really love the customer service; and I love the jacket.

The coat is very flattering, but much tighter across the back and in the upper arms than I would expect. I can often fit into an LL Bean XL, and there was NO WAY I could in this case. I kept the 2X, which I rarely wear, and it is even tight in the arms. Some reviews talk about layering... I would have to layer over this -- nothing more than a regular top is fitting under. I would have even tried the 3X, which is well outside my size range typically, but I didn't have time to get it before a ski vacation.

This jacket was too small, even when following the measurement guidelines provided.
It is very cold and does not keep you warm unless you are doing something active outside and have a thick layer under the jacket. I've gone out in weather above 35F and still shivering.
Looking for warmer coat and better size match

Desription said this coat would keep you warm up to 5. I live in st. Louis and I am still cold in 30 weather. The zipper also jabs me in the neck while zipped or unzipped, neck needs to be a little bit bigger. Coat also bunches when you sit and pushed the zipper in you neck also, perfect fit otherwise and looks very nice, love the color.

Runs a bit large but nice if you want to layer thicker sweaters under it and still have room to move. As other reviews have mentioned it's quite lightweight (which i should expect given it's a packable jacket) but I probably wouldn't wear it if the weather hit the teens and below unless you're doing physical activity. I wish ll bean offered tall sizes, I'm 5'10 and while the length is ok the sleeves are pretty short on me.

I bought my llbean jacket as a winter coat. It's rating is for 35/-15 degrees. I thought it would be perfect since we rarely get -15 degree weather. I was very surprised at how thin the jacket was. I was very disappointed to found out that I had to wear additional layers in order to stay warm in 20 degree weather. This coat would not be good in colder weather. It's prefect for the mid thirties and night weather.

Beautiful jacket and very light. Unfortunately I could not get the zipper to work so I had to return it.

I really like the way this jacket looks on, but overall I'm not impressed with the warmth of the jacket. It is very lightweight but promises to boast more warmth. I didn't find this to be true upon a cold day outside with temps in the upper 40's. I fear the fabric will tear easily because it's so light. I really wish I had gone for the down jacket instead.

I ordered the 1x originally as that is normally my size. The upper arms were too tight but it fit well everywhere else. I went up to the 2x and the arms fit but everywhere else is too big. I'm keeping it because I've had a heck of a time trying to find a warm, packable jacket for my upcoming trip to Europe this winter. I think designers need to realize that you cant keep the same pattern and just keep increasing the sizing. If they make a plus version they need a new pattern for the fit to be right.

This coat was exactly what I was looking for for cool nights of summer hiking. It was warm, lightweight, and fit great almost... the sleeves were too short. LLBean doesn't make tall sizes for women so I had to return and purchase a similar coat in mens in order for sleeves to fit. Downfall of mens coats sometimes is the boxy cut. If sleeve length was not an issue for me I would have kept this coat and rated it with 5 stars.

I purchased this jacket to replace an item I bought a couple of years ago. IT HAS CHANGED!
My older coat length was mid thigh. This one is about 4 inches shorter. I will return it. If the length is what you want, you should be pleased. If you want the earlier version, this one is too short.

I looked at the size chart, and read the reviews. I really wanted to order a small, but there were only mediums left in the red. So based on the reviews, I tried it. It's way too big. If there were any left, I would order an x-small in petite, as I think the small would still be too big. I should also have ordered petite, but again, not available in the red. The sleeves go way past my hands. Many reviewers also mentioned how thin the jacket is. I was prepared for it to be thin, but it's barely thicker than its two layers of cloth.
That being said, the red currant color is absolutely gorgeous. It's better in person than online. Please LL Bean, make more jackets in the red currant color!

I bought this coat for a trip to Iceland. Temperatures were in the 30's the entire time. Even with proper layering (from LL Bean) it was not warm enough. I would recommend a coat that is rated the "warmest" for the above temperatures.

I first bought a medium, which is my 'normal' size and it was massive, so I exchanged for a small. It's still huge! I am not a petite, but I wish I had bought either petite or an xs. It's also much thinner than I thought it would be. It's very much a spring jacket, not a winter layer.

This jacket is way to long. I bought a petite and it fits perfectly everywhere, except the length. It's much longer than my down jacket. This is lighter weight, so why would it be longer. The waist is in the right place... I love the material, color (mountain blue), pockets, weight and warmth. The sleeves are the right length. Unfortunately, I'm sending it back. Please bring this back in a more appropriate length!

I was excited to find a jacket in petite sizing but there were too many things off in the shape. The upper arms were cut quite full and the lower body of the jacket belled out and hung away from my body. Only the cut across the bust seemed workable, loose enough for a heavy sweater but not huge. If you need a jacket fuller through the abdomen then maybe this will work for you, otherwise I'd size down.

This coat fits great and love the color, but it will not keep you warm to advertised temperatures. Feels like it is missing half of its fill. Keeping because it will work for a lightweight layer and was on sale, but not warm enough. I have a men's primaloft packaway jacket I bought years ago which is very warm. I was hoping for a similar jacket in the women's size.

Lovely, ultralight jacket, very packable, Love the hood with elastic reinforced border. However, I needed to pay closer attention to the temperature range in the description. It is much too thin to be a viable option for cold winter days.
The fit is very nice and shapely but fits a little too tight for comfortable freedom of movement.

I really like the jacket, but it is nowhere near the comfort rating/standards they have stated. this is a great spring/early fall jacket, but is not suitable for comfort ratings of 35 degrees to -15 by any means

I liked the jacket , the fit was perfect, however was so disappointed the color (red currant) was really orange. The color did not match the description and picture at all.

This jacket looks good and fits well but I thought it would be warmer. Nice jacket to wear indoors, driving, etc this time of year (fall) but not warm enough for cold weather. I ordered large. I am not a large person but thought I would get large in case I wore it over bulkier clothing. I definitely could not have worn a medium.

I was disappointed. This jacket was not particularly warm. This jacket did help repel wind; but, I wouldn't spend this much money on this jacket again. I would have returned it, but I wore it several times and tossed out the return label before realizing my mistake.

Loved the color, length, phone pocket, even the elastic around the hood. I wore it outside in 40F weather in Michigan and it felt like I did not have a jacket on. I wonder if any filling was done on this jacket as it felt like there were only two layers of fabric. Sorry to return and hope someone in warmer climate can enjoy.
