He likes it because it is light and comfortable. It would be even better if the sleeves were not so tight. It's winter jacket. You have to wear something inside.

Good jacket - simple, well made.
Fully meets expectations:
-good for 50 degree Texas weather, with long sleeve and casual hat.
-good for 20 degree Colorado weather, with long sleeves, extra under layer of puffer vest, gloves and winter hat.

I've had several similar jackets. This is my favorite so far. The first thing I noticed is that if I put it on wearing a light shirt, I feel warmth instantly. The jacket is super light and the collar flips down easily, and stays down unlike most jackets. It fits nicely. Things that are not so great about the jacket are that when I was in a high wind rain storm, the rain instantly blew through the seams of the jacket, the elastic on the sleeves does not come close to fitting snuggly around your wrist. A few stitches with a needle and thread fixed that problem.

If it's a Men's jacket it is mislabeled and was stocked in the wrong place. That's ok, it will serve my 5'3" frame for what I want

Nice jacket. Warm and lightweight. Is a slimmer fit. Has slash pocket with zipper on front. My only issue is the quality of the material used. Seems like it is quite thin and you have to be careful not to snag it on something. Good looking jacket, otherwise.

The proof will be 'in the pudding!' Delivery and size replacement were completed very well. It will be years, I hope, of use to complete a rating. If this has typical LLBean quality, the four stars should have been five.

Good jacket. I do miss the internal reversible stuff pocket in all the down jackets. I do like lapel pocket for phone.

Not really a "sweater" which is what I wanted but this is a good jacket

Very good light jacket/heavy sweater. Withstands Misty rain for more than a few minutes. My second one. Can't seem to wear out the first one but wanted another color. Also have a heavier "coat" version and vest. Same thing with no sleeves. Good stuff. Wear the sweaters under Bean stretchy rain jacket on cold rainy mornings.

Warm and light. The zipper is lower quality than expected for LL Bean though. I am loving mine though.

Really very light weight. I was expecting a more substantial jacket for the price.

Warm and puffy. Almost too puffy, like 80's cheap puffy jackets puffy. Yes, I would buy it again. Compresses down to a tiny ball easy. Tall sizing is true tall, almost too tall.

Good light jacket. Not all that warm. Good for fall or spring.

This was replacing the identical item, purchased 2 years ago, where the zipper failed. Compared to the old one, I find that the exterior fabric is stiffer and less comfortable. The fit is also noticeably snugger than the old one. Not bad, but not the same.

Overall a great jacket/sweater!! I am a product tester for outdoor products so my comments may seem a little picky but I have noticed a few minor details that are worth mentioning. First, take note that this is a "sweater" not a jacket so the overall fit is going to be slightly more snug compared to a regular jacket. I find the fit to be a little tight around the shoulder blades when I extend my arms. Not uncomfortable, just something I notice when I'm bending over, etc. Also, the collar has become stained/dirty with what I assume is oil from my skin. The collar is a good design and stands upright, however, I would prefer to see it extend a little highe for better wind protection. Those are about the only criticisms I can find. Overall a great jacket, super light, the kind of product you would expect from Bean with an attention to detail. I will buy this again if it ever wears out.

I bought the black color in medium in late Jan '25 because the night color (dark blue) was backordered until mid-April. In early Feb '25 when the night color (dark blue) became available sooner, I bought it too . Unfortunately, the quality control is lacking with the rushed production of the night color because it is visibly and measurably larger than its black twin around the midsection. *I measured both colors.* If you've got a belly then 2nd production of blue might fit you better than earlier production. I found it too boxy / 'poochy' so back it goes. Keeping the black one!

(1) Price is too high (particularly compared to other vendors; (2) zipper is too easily damaged. Otherwise a fine down sweater.

This coat replaces an older version. Seems a bit thinner and not as well constructed.

I bought the same jacket, but with a hood 2 years ago. This one was noticeably thinner (although they are both thin, ultra-light jackets). This one has shed more feathers in a few weeks than the last one has in 2 years.
The value and practicality of these jackets is excellent, but I wish it didn't feel like this one isn't as good as my first purchase.
Having a tall size option is really excellent. If you are a box-shaped robot from the '90s then LLBean's cuts are certainly for you. Getting the tall size M, rather than my usual L, allowed for a jacket that fits a human torso well.

This isnt a review of the jacket which im sure is very good. It s why they would advertise a winter jacket at full price in the us in the summer. These kind of costs are of course reflected in the price, what could they sell this jacket for if they better managed their marketing expenses

I had one of the first Ultralight Down Wweaters, basically the same style as this one. After many years of use, it started to rip. I replaced it with this one. The original one had an extra inside pocket which I thought was very useful. That pocket is now gone which is very disappointing. The 850 Down Jacket still has this inside pocket, but I like the 850 Down Sweater for its lightness while traveling.

I bought this for myself a couple of years ago and love it. Looks great and is surprisingly warm. So I ordered one for my son last year, but it's not nearly as puffy or warm as mine. It's almost like they used half the amount of down in it Thought it might puff up if we gave it time, but it's still much flatter a year later. Probably should have exchanged it but it's too late now.

I went to the grocery today and from the store to the car I got soaked. It was raining moderately, but certainly not pouring. My shirt and my undershirt were totally soaked underneath the jacket. Within five minutes of getting in my car, I looked at the jacket and it was no longer wet on the surface. It literally had soaked up all of the moisture that was on it. It's neither wind resistant or water resistant. when it really shines is when I wear it as an undergarment under a warm coat then it's incredibly warm. I've had my jacket for about six months and when there's no wind and it's dry, I like it pretty well. I had to sew The cuffs on the sleeves a little bit because they were too loose.
