Wonderful jacket, warm and light weight wind protection

Needed a 3/4 length Winter coat and this was available in the color I like. Will edit my review once the cold weather gets here.

I wanted a thigh-length coat, hopefully with a decent hood, and able to stand up to wind and some snow or rain. This one has all of that, is well-fitting, comfortable, and keeps me warm. A great value.

Bought for my husband who wanted a longer down jacket with a hood. He loves it and wears it every time weather is cooler than usual.

Even though is sew through construction,(not baffle) it has an inner fabric liner. The 650 fill has larger sections then 850 packable. Extra wt. okay. Also , removable hood. Sent back 850 hooded.

I moved to Ohio from New Jersey in the fall of 2022. I used my Parka during the winter here at the start of the Holidays when the weather turned very cold. The weather dropped to -2 degrees at one point. Since I am retired, and I no longer have to stand outside, and wait for the bus (NJ) to go to work but, I did have wait outside for Uber to run errands, the parka is light weight but keeps you warm. A great investment.

I bought this jacket for my husband for Christmas. I was attracted to the Dark Barley color, a change from the blues that he usually wears. A well made, warm and comfortable winter jacket. It has been great for my son, who is a teacher, and needs to supervise kids outdoors at the beginning of the school day, during the winter.

This parka is well tailored. It is lightweight but warm. It fits well in my usual size.

I actually had to talk my husband into buying this fabulous, warm, soft down coat. He loves LL Bean but couldn't let go of his other coat which was about 10 years old from L L Bean. But he loved it so much!!!! The large fit perfectly as he weighs 189 with room for a sweater. He says it's toasty warm!

Pro's: It's like wearing a sleeping bag! It's great between 20 and 35f, too warm above that. Unless you're active below 20 it's not warm enough. Especially if the wind is blowing. Go with the Baxter State Parker for below 20f and windy conditions. The zippered pockets inside the pockets are a nice touch. Con's: The hood is snap on with tiny plastic buttons. It should be a zippered on hood. With the hood cinched down, tilting your head down causes it to unsnap in the back. On windy days the cold blows in between the snaps.
