I'm a winter sports enthusiast who usually goes with a hard shell and layers for skiing etc. I got tired of layering up for daily dog-walks and errands, so I purchased this as a cold-weather coat for general use. I purchased it in November. Where I live in the mountains of Northwestern Virginia, we've had unusually cold weather in December and January. This coat is warn enough for a long walk in 10 degree weather. Key features for me are: - Waterproof shell, (its not "crinkly" like some) - Outside chest pocket for phone/wallet (I don't want to open my coat if I don't have to) - Drawcord above the waist to retain core temp in windy conditions - Removable hood (I'm hearing impaired, so hoods make hearing even more difficult) - Hand-warmer/cargo pockets at hip level - Length well below the waist for extra warmth This coat hits all those. I'm not a fan of two way zippers in general, bth the one on this coat works easily for me. I found it a tad bulky for a two hour car ride, but it's fine to drive in for normal daily trips. I recommend this coat.

This works great for what I wanted it for: the 20-50F range for hiking and general use. For colder temps I use a down parka. Waterproof is a plus so I don't have to weigh whether rain is likely (not a problem at lower temps). It's a good length, current version has a 2-way front zipper, a removable hood, and comes in Don't-Shoot-Me bright red. A good upgrade would be to include some insulation over the front pockets so they could double as hand warmers.

Good fit with some room for layering underneath. The parka is warm and a good wind blocker.

Excellent warm light weight Parka!! This is my 3rd one over a 40 year period of buying LL Bean gear. I do miss the upper chest hand warming pockets and the zip chest pocket on my new parka is smaller than the older one, and my phone will not fit in.

Great jacket. Warm, yet light and not bulky. I like the gray/black color combo. The gray is more steel colored than just gray. The zippers are flat and nice, good to have removable hood

The best in every way. Can work outside on a farm all day and never get cold, regardless of wind, rain, snow and temperature.

I bought the Rugged Ridge Parka to replace my 30 year old Penobscot Parka (which I still use) because I love being in extreme weather. I got my chance in the new year when I wore it on a frozen lake in 12 degrees weather with snow blowing sideways. With just a sweatshirt on and my Parka hood on. I was warm as toast. I couldn't stop smiling at how amazing all of the "tech" features worked together to make me comfortable.

Great jacket, not too thick. Had my first one for 10+ years and decided to update with a different color.

This is a great coat. It is my second one, got a little bigger size so I can put more of me and layers in it. :-) It is machine washable also.

Purchased as a present. Recipient was VERY happy with gift! Parka is well made, true to size and looks GREAT! I chose L. L. Bean over other labels due to long successful history with my own L. L. Bean purchases. My personal experience is Bean clothes and footwear simply outlast other brands.

Large Tall fits me great (6'3", 215 lbs) with room for layers. Very warm. I love that this is synthetic, easier to care for than down and more durable.

The parka is great as expected. I like the removable hood and the weight is about right with the suggested layer under the parka. The fit is good as expected. I've noticed that your deliveries are slower since you shifted your warehouse away from Freeport, ME.

We took a trip to Norway, far North into the Arctic Circle this year. I cannot understate how brilliant this parka was and how much it allowed me to just enjoy and be in those long moments with my family, staring up at the Northern Lights, tucked warmly away inside.

Great winter coat, but not a parka for zero degree weather. Waterproof and wind resistant..very adjustable to different body types. I wear it in 15-20 degree snow and wind and stay comfortable. The hood is quite large on me and I need to wear a wool stocking hat under it to keep it out of my face. Very nice coat.
