I purchased a Rugged Ridge Parka about 15 years ago when they first came out. It was a great parka but it was time to replace it. So far this one is very warm and blocks the wind. I hope I get as many years from this one as the first one.

Just as advertised, the Rugged Parka looks great and keeps me warm. I was in between Medium and large so ordered the large to make sure the sleeve length was ample and there was room for a sweat shirt or sweater. It was huge on me so returned it for a medium which fits great and still has plenty of room for layering and length in the sleeves.

I originally bought this for my husband to wear to a Vikings football game (and a Christmas present), thinking it would be pretty cold in Minneapolis....until I found out the stadium is indoors....that being said, he wore it to Minnesota and was grateful that he had it! This jacket is warm and not bulky. Looks great! He loves it, which is most important.

Excellent winter jacket.
This jacket replaced the one I bought from L.L. Bean 17 years ago. I was hesitant to replace the old one as it had served me so well over many harsh Minnesota winters. This new jacket, however, is just exceptional. It is lighter weight, just as warm if not warmer, and the inner lining makes it easy to slide over other layers of clothing without friction. It has adjustment cords that allow you to fit it to the contours of your particular body, and is not only practical, but stylish. All in all a very good jacket, and my wife even likes it. It has kept me very warm down to +7 with wind chills below that, and I have no doubt it will do the trick way colder , which according to the forecast we will experience early next week. The size fit my tall frame perfectly. No complaints, just compliments. A really good buy.

This coat is great, my 13yo wears it everyday to school and weekends also!! If there was a problem with it, he would let me know. Fits good and is warm to play outside also. He will definitely use it to ride 4-wheelers in the snow and he hopes for a ski trip the first of 2018.

I live in Chicago so warmth and protection from the wind are key. This parka is comfortable, durable and warm. The hood protects my head and neck well.

Bought this for my husband who is quite particular about jackets. This one will be his daily go-to. He likes its warmth and staying dry in snow. The cut is neat not bulky, and sizing (medium) is true. Thank you, Bean!

The salesperson in the store helped me with the fit and I'm glad that he did. He also instructed me as to how to clean and care for this parka. He demonstrated the double zipper, which allows for the bottom portion of the coat to be opened and makes driving with coat very comfortable. All of the pockets are generous size and all have zippers. The interior has good-sized pockets that for many uses. I really like this coat and I'm sure that it will serve me for many years to come!

Great jacket for all ages. My husband chose the dark gray and black combination and it looks very nice and is warm. It is cut generously enough to allow for comfortable movement while driving. Fits nicely over a sweater.

A quick story: I purchased a coat online from another online outlet. Frankly, it was cheaper than L.L. Bean's similar offerings. I was kind of thinking that I would regret it but went ahead anyway.
The coast itself was not too bad but the zippers... Were they kidding me? A struggle to zip up, a struggle to zip down. Back it went, necessitating a trip to the post office and payment of postage.
Not this coat from L.L. Bean, however. THIS one is a keeper. Great quality, including the zippers (and including a zipper feature that the other one did not have - the capability of zipping up from the bottom to allow room for sitting down).
This coat was more expensive but has quality worth paying for, as has been the case with previous L.L. Bean purchases that I have made.
No more virtual bargain basement shopping. I WILL wait for the occasional L.L. Bean sale, however, so they should not think that money grows on trees out here! :-)

I have a Rugged Ridge Parka for almost a decade now, wore it every Fall, Winter, and early Spring, and it's STILL looks like NEW and is going strong. Just out of curiosity, I went to a LLBean Store to check out the current version and I must say that I like my 'old version' of the Rugged Ridge Parka much better. The current/new version doesn't have as many pockets and side ventilation as the old one does and it has much thinner insulation. Will I keep the current version of the Rugged Ridge Parka? The short answer is NO. I will return it and wait for a better version later and keep on using the one I have now.

I am from the south. I have traveled the world in all sorts of weather. I did it all in my old trusted LL Bean 3and1 set I purchased in the early 90's. I knew that my trusted GTX shell, fleece, my yearly round of LL wool sweaters was all I needed. Then I moved to Chicago - and after one very cold winter I discovered that travel in the winter, hiking in the winter, and living your daily life in the winter are VERY different things. It was not that my layering system did not do the job, it was that it was a job. A job to go to the store, or clean the car off (oh how I love you garage), or any other of the life details that come up in the snow bound north. I was not going to go thru another winter like that again, but I was not excited about buying a "coat I did not need". My lovely wife *not from the south explained to me that I was being a bull headed idiot, and waisting the families time with a daily routine of getting my layers all sorted out. I begin looking and trying things out, and as always I came back to LL Bean. I purchased mine a number of years ago (at least 9) and it is still going strong, and I am hard on clothes. I also now understood the joy of just putting the coat on and walking out the door and being totally bundled in a down filled wonder. I would recommend this parka to anyone. I do not think I will need one anytime soon, as I have lasted the last 27 years on (2) LL Bean coats. That being if I need to get another parka someone will have to do a lot to convince me to not get another LL Bean.

I received my blue LL Bean Rugged Ridge Parka today. I am extremely happy with my new jacket. This jacket has a great look to it and the overall quality is quite evident. The cut is on the large side. I am 5'10, 225 pounds, 45 in chest, and the large is a perfect fit for me. Looking forward to cooler temps/trips to the mountains to try out my new jacket!

I bought my parka in February when the harsh winter weather was winding down, but I did get a good 6 weeks of wear this season. When layered properly, the parka kept me plenty warm and cost much less than some other options I was considering.
It's been 10 years since I bought a parka and the technology has changed quite a bit. I was surprised at the lack of bulk. And yet, I stayed warm.
It might be another 10 years until I buy my next parka.

Bought this for my husband and he loves the length of the tall. The contrasting colors add a bit of style to a traditional parka.

This parka was acquired under the return policy of LL Bean. I owned a similar parka, and the zipper failed just before a blizzard... The staff at LL Bean in Burlington VT could not have been more accommodating and gave me several options. Unfortunately, with it being March end-of-season, there was no stock in my size. They located a store in Illinois with one left and arranged to have it shipped to my home. I have mixed feelings for the color, which is mustard green. I would have preferred blue, but despite the unusual color, I am thrilled with the parka now. The mustard color has the advantage that I am less likely to get run down by a car at night or mistaken for game in the woods! The parka fits comfortably and certainly keeps me warm except below zero, when it will accommodate one or more underlayers. Lots of pockets.

This is a great parka. Light, warm, comfortable. I like the detachable hood. Fits well. After my old parka of 10 years finally went to parka heaven I thought I'd never get a suitable replacement. Was I wrong. I hope this one lasts me another 10 years because I don't want to give it up.
