I am very happy with this coat. I wanted a great cold weather parka and this is it. It's warm and it's longer cut gives good, mid-body protection. But, very importantly, it gives great windbreaker protection while being light in weight - not heavy and bulky.

I needed a weatherproof coat for the bitter cold days in northern Michigan, and this one does the job.
The outer shell is guaranteed waterproof, so no worries about getting wet. It's extremely well insulated, with a two-way zipper and Velcro flap fasteners. The inner cuffs keep the cold and wind from getting up the sleeves. There also are adjustments to the lower hem which I have not had to use.
The coat has plenty of pockets, inside and out, including zippered compartments for valuables and an inner pocket for snow goggles, complete with a cloth for cleaning lenses.
The insulated hood is removable, and can be customized with three elastic adjustable fasteners to snugly fit your head. It's very warm and, for better or worse, screens out a lot of sound.
My only reservation is that the hood is large when unadjusted, so for me, getting a good fit results in a lot of extra material around my neck. But that's more insulation against the cold, right?
I recommend this coat to anyone who wants to stay warm outdoors in extreme winter conditions.

I LOVE my new Rugged Ridge Parka. It's warm, comfortable, and performs just as advertised. I had a Pat****ia parka (similar style) for 20 years. It finally began to fail, and I needed to replace it. To buy a new one from Pat****ia would have cost me nearly $400. Instead, for half the cost, I bought the LL Bean parka. The quality is every bit as good as the competition's, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I'm nearly 73, but I hope to get 20 more years out of my new parka!

I convinced my husband to buy this parka. He loves it. Great warmth in bitter cold with the convenience of a hood!

MY husband and I love to wear less clothing under neath. This jacket is so comfortable weather you dress more or less clothing. This jacket will keep you warm and dry. Great for play or shoveling snow.

This coat fills the bill in the 3 important areas for me. Fit is foremost for me. I am 6-4 and 295 and fits me perfectly. Next is Features. From the high neck, two way zipper to the multitude of pockets, it has the little things that make a good coat, great. Lastly, it's warm and comfortable yet not to bulky and heavy. You can pay more and get much less from the ski coat guys.

I purchased this parka as a gift for my husband. He loves it. It is warm and comfortable. The color is great. The back is slightly longer than the front, so it covers his "seat". That makes this parka great in really cold weather. He's owned parkas for many years. This is the first one that covers his backside. The slightly longer length does not restrict movement or get in the way when he drives. Highly recommended.

Bought this jacket for my husband. We live on the ridge of a small mountain and it gets really cold and windy where we walk the dogs. This coat has been very effective in keeping him wArm, dry and blocking the wind.

This parka arrived just before we had two consecutive weeks of frigid temperatures. I am very pleased with the comfort and the warmth of this product.

This is the second Rugged Ridge Parka in a row I have purchased from LL Bean. The first one lasted for ten years, and the only reason I gave it up was because I'd replaced the zipper at a local dry cleaner's after maybe 9 years, and I'd had to replace the replacement a couple of times. But we are talking about wearing it every day during the winter, the better part of November well into March. Mostly just city wear, but some travel to winter outdoor recreation areas (like Iceland) as well. It is very warm, keeps you dry, and is super durable. The new version seems just as sturdy as the old one. I do not miss the mid-level pockets (I didn't use them very often anyway), and I love it. I'm a lifer.

Good for casual wear but as it gets colder or more windy just do up a few more zippers or snaps and you're as warm as a bug in a rug.

My jacket arrived just before the sub-zero temperatures reached the mid-west and I was very thankful. I like the way it fits and at -10F it's comfortably warm. It has a drawstring inside but I don't use it because it fit so well. One thing I didn't expect to use is the cell phone pocket on the upper left side but now I miss it on my lighter jackets. I had a similar jacket that lasted 10 years and I expect this will last at least that long.

I bought this coat to replace one that I bought from Bean about twenty plus years ago. It fits well and will probably last as long as I will. Very warm, waterproof, etc. Very happy with it as I have been with everything I have ever bought from LLBean.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband. He's 6' and normally wears shirts from L.L. bean in tall sizes, however he exchanged the tall for a regular. He wore a t-shirt with a button down work shirt underneath and said that it was exceptionally warm. He tested it in temps down to the 20s and 30s and gave it two thumbs up. It's not bulky and he even drove with it on (something he normally does not do with jackets/coats). It's a keeper.

Coat has every feature you would want in a ski jacket, fits nicely and is super warm. With light layers, it has been comfortable skiing in up to -5 windchill. It also is holding up nicely to a 13 year old's mistreatment. Would buy again. Purchased a medium for my son who is 5'7", 157 pounds with a long torso. Lighter weight individual at the same height could easily wear a small.

This coat is exactly what I was looking for this winter. Plenty of insulation to keep the wind out and the waterproofing is great for any precipitation. I will say that it is easy to get warm in this coat if you are moving around so be certain to not overdress underneath if you are hiking, skiing, or simply shoveling the walk.

I wanted to review the warmth of the parka. It has been about -5 degrees below zero this week. I have gone out daily in my parka and have felt toasty. With a sweater underneath it is extremely warm. It has provided excellent warmth and protection against the cold and rain.
The only negative is that the zipper teeth do not last.

This was a gift for my father, her loved the colors and it's overall warmth and weight. However, the double zipper was too hard to clasp easily especially with a light layering glove on.

I love this jacket so much I bought another. Bought one in 2015 and another in 2017. Bought the second because I wanted another color option to pick from. Live in North Carolina and work for a large Trane franchise so I am out side 80% of the time. I only get this jacket out when temps hit the low 40's or really 30's. I can get by with a short sleeve shirt and this jacket at these temps and find myself letting the jacket stay open to keep cooler. This week it's been the single digits and highs in the 20's so it's been great. I have another medium weight for the upper 40's to the high 50's. Love it to, it is a LL Bean also. Cannot go wrong with this item!!!!!!!

I bought this for my son in black/grey. So far he loves it. He's 6'2" so I went with Tall large.
Sleeves were a good length and so was body length without too much extra in chest size.

The jacket fits as expected. It allows you to wear a sweater underneath when the weather is near or below zero. The hood is insulated which is nice and provides good coverage when it is raining.
