Perfect for my current lifestyle. Not as athletic as in the past (74 yrs old) consequently the fixed insulation is great. Fits well and has proven waterproof. Typically LL Bean....better than expected.

My last LL Bean parka of this type lasted more than 20 years - only thing had to do was replace zipper two years ago. It's still usable but the replacement zipper I had done locally and it failed. The new coat is light, toasty warm for a northeastern US winter, and looks great. Recommend it 100 percent.

I have had several of this exact style jacket the past 25 years and is my all time favorite. Great wind and rain and cold protection. All the right pockets inside and outside. I always have another lighter jacket underneath for maximum warmth. No complaints.

My first purchase at an LL Bean retail store (Oak Brook, IL) during its grand opening. Needed a new winter coat and tried this one on, on a whim. This coat delivers everything it promises at a good price. Quite warm, without the bulk of other coats, plus good styling. It keeps getting better and better as I wear it.

In Buffalo, NY, we take our winter gear seriously. You can always count on LL Bean to provide the finest quality products. This is the third Rugged Rigid Parka that I have purchased. The coat lives up to it's reputation to keep me warm on cold, windy days. With the zipper up, the collar wraps tightly around my neck to keep out the wind. They have improved the hood from their last design and it is now more functional. The zipper seems very smooth and easy to use. I would recommend this coat for anyone living in a cold climate.

I was concerned if the coat would keep me warm because it was so light. But true to the description it keeps me warm when the wind is blowing and cold out. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Used the size chart to figure out the correct size, worked out very well. First thing I noticed was the great wind protection and added warmth from my previous LL parka. Parka is used daily to and from work that includes routine 2 mile walk from parking to office in a typical Wisconsin winter. Good value for the price.

I bought my first one 14 years ago and wore it every day for 6-7 months. It lasted for 7 years. I bought my second and did the same. It lasted 7 years. Just bought my third. Will be back in 2025.
If something is used this often and lasts 7 years, it's a bargain at twice the price.

My husband loves this jacket. Comfortable. Plenty of pockets. Longer in the back. Really warm with layers.

This purchase was to replace an old LE parka that had worn out. The fit of this one is good - slightly on the large side which is just right. I can comfortably wear a 2-3 layers with this parka -- thick swearshirt/hoodie or sportcoat both go comfortably inside.
Been wearing it in early winter in alaska - very good for the range of 0-30F and imagine it would go colder with easy. internal cuffs in the sleeves and a snug neck when zipped up help keep warmth inside with your body. da

GREAT JACKET FOR PEOPLE THAT ARE ALLERGIC TO DOWN. EXTREMELY WARM AND LONG.
THE ONLY THING THAT IS A CON IS YOU SHOULD BRING BACK THE RED AND BLACK

Not sure if the size was mismarked, but the large is HUGE like an extra large. Other than that, it's a very nice jacket and well made/super warm.

Wore this twice this winter on long walks, pair with fleece lined pants, on days at or near 5 degrees F. Even with wind at 20 mph, I was toasty. I used a mad bomber hat rather than the supplied hood, so I can't comment on the hood. Although the coat breathes, even at 5 degrees F I build a sweat up that condensed on the inside of the jacket, but not enough to cause a problem. I think I would have been comfortable well below 0.

Just what the doctor ordered for the 4 recent "north easter's" I lived through in Vermont and NYC (tough for a guy living in San Diego).

I originally purchased this item in Large/Tall and found it a little snug through the chest and shoulders. I exchanged it for an Extra Large which fit perfectly. The parka arrived in time to be put to the test. Windy with low single digit temperatures at night and mid-teens during the day. I stayed very comfortable and was very impressed with the wind protection. The weather then turned cold and wet...low to mid 30's with wind and rain. Again, I remained comfortable and dry. The parka is well made and the workmanship impeccable. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase...it has exceeded my expectations and I don't hesitate to recommend it.

This coat is made for very cold weather (temps in the 20s or less) and does a great job of keeping me warm.
It's not an "every day" winter coat here in the Northeast. Adjustable strings & straps help get the fit perfect. I've only had it a month, but as with other LL Bean products, it seems well made and meant to last, so hopefully, I'll have this for many winters to come.

This has been the warmest work jacket I've ever owned. I've had it for 2 years and have no fear of being cold or wet in the winter with this as the foundational jacket. I have hardly had to do any torso layering besides legs and feet, even in the coldest days. It's kept me dry and warm and has held up to work conditions on exterior film shoots.

I bought this parka to wear during the winter and have worn it daily for 2 months. It's been a really good experience. The parka is warm enough for almost any situation. The material it's made from sheds snow and is pretty tough. The fit is right on. i like all the extras you get with it also. I use the lens cleaning cloth due to glasses. I really like the sleeves. There is an inner cuff that really keeps out the wind and cold. It's very comfortable in it's design. The collar is very comfortable and I like the way it zips up and covers your neck. I would definitely buy this parka again.

My coat arrived just in time for the mini ice age we experienced a few weeks ago here in the Mid-Atlantic. It wasn't Minnesota cold but but a really chiller for the locals, The coat I had worn for several years couldn't handle this cold but my Ridge Line Parka did. Even when the wind chills plunged below 0.
