A great, multi-purpose coat for occasional winters. We live in a warm climate in Central Texas and rarely need coats. But when we do, we need a good one. This coat is ideal. It doesn't take up huge amounts of closet space when not in use. It provides wind, water, and cold protection quickly and comfortably when it is in use. Bonus: it looks great and it's very light weight.

Bought this for my son, he was concerned because, in an earlier review, someone had said they found the zipper to be difficult to use. I showed him a similar zipper that is on my Maine Park Ranger Parka, and how it is designed to unzip up from the bottom, of you have to get something from a pants pocket, without having to unzip the whole zipper. He likes the jacket, it has been warm enough for him.

Warm, comfortable jacket perfect for cold winters. If you buy it slightly bigger you can fit it over layers. Lots of pockets and in good position on the coat.

Exceptional jacket !!! I purchased one for my son who is tall and wears a large and one for my grandson who is fifteen and wears a medium and they both fit perfectly; although the winter was mild this year, the few times that the temps did dip below 10 degrees, the jackets kept them very warm;

I purchased 2 of these for my husband and son. They wore them all winter and I know these will last them for years. Worth the price, great classic style, not bulky and kept them earth.

This is my second parka. I bought the same one years ago. I looked around, but could not find a parka with all the pockets and great features. It's a fair price for all you get. I especially like the inside & outside zip pockets at chest level- very handy. The inside mesh pockets add more versatility. The taffeta collar is comfy. I love this parka.

Great parka, low price, I wanted a 100% waterproof jacket for cold rainy days around freezing temp, this has been perfect. With minimal layering keeps me very warm in the 30-40 degree range. I have heavier parkas for well below freezing so I haven't tried this much below freezing but I'm sure with the right layering could be used down to at least 10 degrees no problem.

Great Parka. Not heavy in weight but holds up to Northern winter weather, including snow storms, slushy rain, sleet and wind - didn't feel a thing and stayed toasty. Hood doesn't shift when raised (it can zip off which is a nice feature), raised collar keeps weather from the neck nicely and there are plenty of pockets.

It's an excellent jacket, good for a wide range of temperatures and conditions. There's room to layer. The only improvement I can think of would be to add pit zips (the two-way zipper is good but pit zips would help to better ventilate when you get warm).

I love this jacket. It's warm, waterproof, and comfortable. I wear it skiing, snow blowing and I plan to wear it on my trip to Iceland.

I had an idea what I wanted in a new coat. Warm, hooded, and longer than I usually wear. I found it in this coat. It's great in windy winter weather. I'm very happy with it.

I bought an earlier version of this parka at the beginning of winter of 2015. I have worn it in upstate New York every day in winter for almost a full nine winters. For sub 20 degrees Fahrenheit I wear an SAS sweater underneath with a flannel shirt and thermal shirt and T-shirt and wool scarf (and of course a wool cap and gloves, and flannel-lined LL Bean pants with long John's ). I have managed like this outside at about 10 degrees for extended periods and zero for short periods.
My husband (same sex) needed a winter coat (winter of 2023) and I got him this. It is clearly the same coat. Plenty of pockets in the right places. Removable hood. (I did not examine the zipper construction on this new version. But it should be noted that my old version came with a cruddy zipper that only lasted about five years. I had a tailor then replace the old zipper with a very sturdy nylon zipper.).
Note to LL Bean. Please never stop manufacturing this coat. Mine will still probably last another ten years or so and then I will want to buy a replacement in about 2033. Keep the drab color option (mine is olive, I bought my husband the gray).

I'm 72 and get cold more easily than I used to, and I found this to be a great parka for cold weather. It's long enough to cover part of the upper leg, the sleeves are long and have a light elastic band at the wrist to reduce air exchange, and the insulation is such that a fleece layer underneath keeps it comfortable in temps below Zero. Of course it helps to move around, but this is the least restricting parka I have found for the insulation and warmth it provides. The hood is detachable, which I like; I'm not a big fan of hoods but this one helps when it really gets cold. For most uses, I leave the hood off. This adds up to a really good winter parka; highly recommended.

Bought this coat to replace my previous model of the Parka. I wore that one for many years.
It served me well; it was very comfortable and kept me warm. After all the years, it is still in good shape. I just wanted to upgrade.
I am very happy with this new version. It is more lightweight, but still comfortable and warm.
Fits well, looks good. Great for outdoor recreation and everyday use.
