I have been buying this jacket from LLBean for various male members of the family for years and have never been disappointed. The newest recipients are in their teens, and this jacket just does not wear out! The only reason for getting a family member another one of these jackets is that the wearer grows in girth:) or chooses another color. A favorite jacket!

Warm up jacket: All characteristics of this jacket were of the highest quality; however, for me it was a little to short waisted.

Very nice looking, comfortable and good looking jacket. When needed, I'd purchase another one. I recommend it to my friends.

Excellent product. I don't ever write reviews but I am very loyal to LL Bean now that I've bought this jacket and 6 or 7 other great products. Very warm. Blocks wind like no other piece of clothing I've owned. I live in the cold Midwest where the wind can pound you all day and I cannot feel anything when wearing this jacket. Coldest I've worn it in is approx. 20 degrees F with just a tee shirt underneath and was not cold at all. Would probably need a thicker under layer <10 degrees.Only con is that the material is a little loud and poofy. But I really don't care because it blocks the wind so well. Would buy another color if I were not on a college budget.

I bought this same jacket in navy probably 20 years ago when my parents took me to Bar Harbor, Maine. I bought it for my husband. He's been wearing it every winter since and still loves it. Except now he's got a little weight around his middle and it doesn't quite fit. This coat is an awesome coat. It is still in excellent condition - just now a bit too small. LOL! I'm going to get him another one in a larger size and it should last him another 20 years! Thanks, LL Bean!

Yes these jackets are soooo versatile. I began with one and was shocked at the warmth. The broad comfort range of these jackets is awesome. Water repellency is substantial. I now have 5. In fact I use two like a sweater around the home come winter. Better than most sweaters. Once the warmth sets in you are good till bedtime. A fiscal responsible purchase to say the least.

I have had over two dozen of these warm up jackets over the years and never tire of them. I have been shopping at L L Bean since before they had an 800 number, at least 50 years.

XL is a great fit for me and plenty warm for this past Michigan Winter. From the time my son was 15 to 25 I had the worst taste in clothes he could imagine. He tried on my Warm up Jacket and I had to order him a XLT in the same orange. I wish you had Black in a lighter weight?

A nice jacket; fits well and I like the color. I'm going to keep it. However, and it's a BIG one, if I were to go out for more than a few minutes wearing this jacket in even 0 degree weather, I'd freeze in a matter of minutes. I'd say the temperature rating for this jacket might be more like 40 degrees to 65 degrees. It is very clearly NOT for cold weather use.

This is my second one, I've had it for 15-20 years. The only thing that wore out was the elastic waistband. Would a solid waist band with a two-way zipper be better?

Love the coat, cool color choices and HAPPY to have LL BEAN offer large tall sizes. The coat is classic style, works in casual or dress down looks. Warm comfy, good pockets for all my 'stuff' (phone, keys, wallet, glasses). Pockets zip and are comfortable when used to keep your hands warm. Also zips right up to under the chin. No scarf necessary. Not much nasty cold weather this year in Virginia ('17), wore it extensively in mild temps. The coat is perfect for me in good or bad weather and warm to 30 degrees by itself. Wearing a sweater and adding a vest keeps you warm to 15-20 degrees and you will still be comfortable and able to move, and not be restricted by bulkiness. Great for in and out of the car.

I purchased this jacket in size Large because the same jacket I've had for 39 years (and still looks like new) fits snuggly, so I wanted a little more room. This new jacket is a perfect size for me. I normally buy size Medium in everything, but this jacket seems to run slightly smaller. This is my warmest jacket for winter here in southern NM, where the temp is usually in the 20's-30's, and sometimes in the teens. Highly recommend this jacket to everyone. If this new jacket holds up as long as the old one has, I'll be thrilled. The only issue with my old jacket was the zipper started acting up.

Here in Maine the weather changes fast and this coat is perfect in features to wear most of the year from late Oct. through March. I wear it a lot and so I just bought my 3rd. Do I love the jacket?

Keeps me warm at 25 degrees and windy. Wind just does not go through. This is my new go to coat. Never had a coat this light weight and this warm at the same time.

I usually wear a regular, size small jacket but for this jacket, I have to buy a regular, medium size. I am a 5'-10" and 176 lb man. It is a very warm jacket. I highly recommend this product.

Many of the reviews I read love the coat, but complained it was too tight. Normally a medium, I bought a large and it fits perfectly. As one review cited, use it every time I go out. Pretty much fits the bill. So go one size up.

I have this and the lighter-weight version of this jacket. I bought this model on the strength of my satisfaction with the other. Both are extremely comfortable. This one is, obviously, warmer. So much so, in fact, I wear it skiing and as my winter go to coat overall. Great for layering. Excellent value for money.

I have a very similar jacket which I purchased about 30+ years ago from LLBean... It has stood up very well overall..... The reason I wanted to purchase a new one, was I can no longer get the dirt / stains off my current jacket. Just 30+ years of normal around the yard ware , cars etc, use.. The material shows no serious signs of wear... Base on its standing up to, again 30+ years of use. I wanted a new , cleaner replacement.. Although I would have preferred the RED color, same as my current one I have, the Cayenne color was the brightest , currently available.... Sometimes change is good.... I will continue to use my RED one for yard work.... Pocket zippers going down are a nice improvement !

Bought this jacket to have a second one just like it (my other one is in the cayenne color but has the flannel lining). I really wanted this Mariner blue color with a flannel lining, but in blue it is only offered with a fleece lining. Since I liked the blue color, I went ahead and purchased this jacket with the fleece lining anyway. I have to admit that the fleece lining IS warmer than flannel, but I still prefer a flannel lining because I like the look and feel of the flannel, and the flannel version of the jacket is a little bit lighter weight (not that this in fleece is a heavy jacket though). I think that all fleece linings eventually start to look worn and old looking vs flannel, which stays looking nicer longer--just my preference I guess. Like with my red jacket, I wish that they would have another inside pocket besides the one for a cellphone. In spite of needing that second inside pocket and this blue color not being offered with a flannel lining, I still rate this workout jacket "excellent" and am very happy with it and recommend it to anyone.

This jacket is great! Rated at -20 degrees, it is every bit the warmth. The outside fabric repels the rain and wind very effectively, the cuffs are comfortable and keep the cold out, the collar comes up to block the wind right up to your chin, and it fits very comfortably. The best waist-level winter coat I've ever owned, and in New England all my life I've owned a few....
