I was looking for a good wool sock that would keep my feet warm. They are substantial and warm but I was not happy with the fact that they didn't maintain their shape after I had them on for a bit. They are too sloppy for me. It's not just that they fall down, the whole foot gets all enlarged and too big. I will not buy them again because they didn't work for me.

Described on-line as "...premium, itch-free Australian merino wool...", we found the wool rough and itchy. Also, the wool odor was moderately strong and it transfers the to the feet. Finally, the Silver Blue Camo pair's design of each sock is not symmetrical. While not quite obvious in the on-line photo, with careful observation you can see each sock pattern is offset from the other, which we did not care for. Otherwise, these are made of generous, thick, warm wool.

I normally wear shoes size 9 to 9 1/2 depending on the brand and type of shoe. So according to the size chart for these I fit perfectly in the Medium size range. But these socks are way too big, loose, and slide around on my feet. Also, the wool is a bit scratchy. I have lots of socks with this much wool in them that are not scratchy at all. Overall, very disappointed, not as good as expected.

Nice when they're new, but they're not good for long. I don't expect a wool sock to last forever, but this one wears out quicker than most. Worse, they are lumpy and bumpy as they wear (not just thinner and thinner), so they become quite uncomfortable. I found the ankle to be too tight for the foot size, but this would be not such a big deal if the fabric of the sock did not clump up.

My husband has size 13 feet, and the XL socks won't even stretch around his foot to get pulled on. I'm so disappointed because I think he's had these socks before and they used to fit. Something has happened with the sizing because his feet haven't grown. The overall quality is good, but there needs to be another, even larger size, or more attention given to how extra-large the socks actually are(n't)!

These felt huge and clunky on my feet even though I ordered a size small. The toe seam was stiff and uncomfortable.

Purchased for myself in size medium (I normally wear a woman's 8-8.5 shoe) and also purchased in size XL for my husband (who wears a size 13 men's shoe). Medium was much too tight for me (especially in the ankles and I don't have "cankles"'), so I exchanged for an XL and they fit well. Material doesn't seem as durable as purchases made in the past, but I only wear for sleeping in so hopefully they last a while. My husband thought his were tight as well but didn't return because he already worn them. Says he's doesn't think they will last long and that he would be just as happy with his other inexpensive brand. The customer service rep I spoke to was extremely pleasant and helpful.

I've only had these socks a short time, and one has already got a hole in the heel. L.L. Bean's quality has gone down. I'm disappointed.

I have owned probably many many pairs of these socks in rag grey over the past twenty or thirty years. I have found that they are sturdy, warm and comfortable socks and they are my go to everyday socks around the house. HOWEVER the last batch I have owned and purchased over the past 3 to 5 years wear out quickly at the heel and I have discarded most of them. I am referring to the grey rags. I have replaced them with the charcoal rags which have not so far worn their heels out, but are not as soft and comfortable as the grey rags. I notice that the grey rags are not being replaced. I have been waiting to order fresh ones since before Christmas.

I bought these 2 pairs to replace 2 pairs I received for Christmas 2017. I am so very disappointed the heels on both of those 2 pairs had worn through before 10 months of intermittent use. Hoping I can get at least 10 months use from these new ones... I used to rely on LLBean quality for over 45 years of purchasing camping and hiking gear. Simple wool socks, not so reliable now.

The socks fit. They're warm. However, the seam over the toes is very hard at both ends. These hard ends rub and poke my big toes and pinky toes, and that's just with the socks on, no shoes. I can only wear these inside out. This is my third purchase from LL Bean within the last 2 months that I would return. I just didn't want to lose any more money on return shipping fees, so I'm keeping them.

These socks look and feel great but there is something about the weave that makes them very uncomfortable in the heel. I've been wearing them with my bean slippers that I often wear socks with. I suppose they're fine for lounging around but I would not want to wear these socks walking around in shoes or boots. At least I bought them with my bean bucks.

These look like nice quality thick socks at a glance, and the fit is just right, but they're just not comfortable. The ribbed fabric is irritating, especially on the bottom of the heal. Like walking on lumpy sandpaper. The extra large seam across the top of the toes is uncomfortable as well. Not the comfort I expected from an LL Bean product

wanted a thick, winter sock - these fit the bill. however, I find the inside texture of the foot bed to be uncomfortable - every step feels like walking on a screen. and on removal, the grid-like texture leaves an imprint.

I've worn a couple of pair for a few weeks off and on with Birkenstocks. Not every day mind you. The lower (foot) portion of the socks are disappointingly thin. They have no cushion to them. I do not expect them to last.

Seems like my feet are always cold in the winter, so I've tried many types of wool socks. These are among the warmest. But unfortunately, my two pair both wore out after just a few washings. Each of the socks now have several holes in the heels, and they are very thin in that area. Usually if I have wear problems in socks, it is in the ankle area, but never happens as quickly as with these Ragg socks. Won't be buying these again.

We bought these for a ski trip out west. My husband's feet and my feet were freezing after one hour of wearing these socks. I would not recommend these socks to anyone for any winter activity. Worst waste of money.

Bought in Mashpee, MA. The pkg contained two sets - onc of which was totally different quality and had the LL Bean logo. They could have been couterfeit or just worn for years and returned.

Rough fabric and the sizing is awful. I wear size 9 men's shoes and the XL socks are too fitted to be comfortable. Total waste of money

The socks are too thin (not heavyweight by any means) and only the ankle part is thick. These are just ankle warmers. They run small, too.

I've enjoyed bean wool socks for decades. These disappointed me! Big hole in heel after two months of wearing occasionally. Boo!
