No break in needed. Very comfortable. I usually wear a 9.5 but ordered a 10 in these and they fit well. Shortly after I bought them I took them on a hike at Old Stone Fort State Park in Manchester, TN and they did very well for me. I wore them for work on a morning that was about 50 degrees and my feet were cold, but they did stay dry.

This is the 4th? 5th? pair of Merrell hiking shoes I own. Each one I have been able to wear without breaking them in. I live in the mountains so am always on a trail of some kind. I bought these to replace an old pair that I've had for years. I love the breathability and the fact that they are water resistant. I will be using them in all seasons and weather.

Runs slightly large. Very comfortable! Doesn't seem like they need too much breaking-in. I wore them for a 3 mile hike and didn't get any blisters, no rubbing or sore spots. Good ankle support!

Merrill Moab's have been my go-to for sturdy, comfortable hiking boots for several years now. Sink your feet into a cozy, comfortable pillow for your next hike! Seriously, they are great hiking boots and we do a lot of hiking! These do not disappoint. I ordered 1/2 size up to accommodate a thicker sock.

These shoes/boots are perfect for me! They're light weight but offer plenty of support for my arches and ankles. I also need waterproof shoes for walking the dogs or doing outside chores in all kinds of weather. I'm very pleased with my Moab 3 Mid Waterproof shoes.

I have only worn these around the house to make sure they fit, and they do.
I normally wear 8.5 Wide in New Balance, bit went up 1/2 size and they work. They are more lightweight than I had thought which is nice.
This is the first time cor mid, but I am hoping they will work with snow and rain when I walk my dog.

The day I received my new boots I put them on and took my Aussie for a 3 mile walk. It felt like I'd worn these boots for months right out of the box. They're the most comfortable boot I own! Hoping to take them hiking soon!

Probably my 4th pair of these boots. Don't want to mess with a good thing. I walk 6 to 8 km on a rocky beach every day and couldn't do it without these boots. They have been my constant companions for so many years. I get a new pair about every year. I use them foe everything and really give them a beating. I have both knees replaced and these boots give great support and stability, including my ankles. Don't leave home without them!

Bought these boots to hike in Banff. I bought a pair and returned them for 1/2 size larger than the typical shoe size that I wear. They were very comfortable and I really didn't break them in. The traction was great which was truly appreciated by my "old knees". Last time I hiked on mountain trails, I didn't have boots like these. These boots made all the difference in the world. They are very nice looking too.

These arrived a couple days before I had plans for a 10 mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I did not have time to break them in at all and they felt comfortable for the duration of the hike. The hike was a challenge with lots of difficult rocky areas and very steep elevation gain. The boots performed really well. I felt like my feet were very well protected and my ankles reinforced. We hit some rain on the descent and my feet stayed dry. This is an attractive, well-made boot that I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

Fabulous boots! Got the test for waterproofing the second day I wore them. Thanks for having smaller women's sizes. I have been wearing childrens boots for years and they do not last very long.

No need to break in the shoes. I trekked the Inca trail with these shoes without breaking in. The shoes were supportive and held up with the rocks. It drizzled while we were trekking and my feet didn't get wet so it's waterproof. They're very comfy and thanks to the support, my legs weren't as bad as my companions even after 4-5 days of trekking.
