Great sole (VIbram) and tread gave good grip on everything from slickrock to sand. Solid upper design. But fit was not right for my feet -- on downhills, my feet slid forward causing my toes to rub against the nose of the shoes, no matter how I laced them or which socks I wore. After a week of hiking in Utah, my feet were in pain. The fit of these shoes (wider heel) is in contrast to the Merrell Gloves 5 and 6 I've been wearing for years, which fit like ... gloves (with wide toe box and narrow heels) and are great even on steep declines. (Note: The Glove 7 seems to have been redesigned, with a narrower toe box and wider heel. I fear I may not be able to wear those.)

I upgraded my old Merells, Moab 3 with new Merrels, Moab 3. Both stated they were size 10M. However, the new ones appear to fit smaller than size 10 with my toes touching the end of the shoes. If I had know there would be a difference in the same size, I would have ordered a size 10 1/2M. The new ones are therefore not quite as comfortable as the old shoes of the "same" size.

I don't know the exact date it changed but Merrell shoes use to be the most comfortable for my size 15 foot. I have been wearing them for years and never had a better shoe. Sometime during COVID though the build quality of the shoes changed. The outside seems the same but the cushion inside is just horrible. These shoes I had high hopes for but I am returning them because it's like wearing shoes with the insole over a bed of rocks. This is how they felt the last time I purchased a pair as well. I thought now that I was down a considerable amount of weight that maybe they would feel different but no.

After 5 or 6 pairs of Moeb 2, now I got this Moeb 3, and passing one month, I'm most satisfied with sturdier sole. As good as Moeb 2 was, I do notice the slight change, for my daily work shoes.

I've always enjoyed Merrell footwear, but found that the Moab 3 had a much higher arch support than what I need for outdoor hiking. This extra arch support applied too much pressure to the bottom center of my feet so I had to return them.

Extremely comfortable at the very first - but just slightly wide. Stability seems solid but I used my own preferred insoles with pronation control. My only concern is if the shoes become a little looser with wear. Still, outstanding shoes. Fine for casual wear without the treads causing discomfort.
I'd also recommend:

I needed a tough pair of shoes for working out and sought out the Moab3 as a possible solution. Most shoes fall apart from my gym workouts. This shoe provides the kind of support I am looking for. Awesome!

Love my Moab 3s! Super comfortable and supportive right out of the box. No break in was necessary. And love the external design.

Recommended a 1/2 size bigger than I would have picked, it felt that half size big but I appreciated the width, kept the shoe. Walked a lot in it, very comfortable. Laced up fine to prevent any chafing I was unnecessarily concerned about due to the slight oversize. Very happy with the shoe overall but would go a 1/2 size smaller next time.

Bought these to replace my old moab 3 edge. The new ones are great. These are my 4th par in just over 25 years. Such a great product... Such a great company!!

funny , i owned merrell years ago and quite liked them, these not so much - either my foot got narrower or your lasts got wider so my foot moves around in them more than i like. except for that no issues, came quickly and seem well built

The moab 2 was very comfortable. However, the insoles of the moab 3 seem a bit thin- especially below the balls of the feet and do not feel as comfy. Bring back the design of the moab 2

Soles are hard and slick. My back started hurting so I bought some insoles, and it helped. Probably would not buy again.
