The first one you sent was an incorrect size. The second one you sent pilled immediately. You sent a replacement for free, thank you, but the sleeves are too long. We give up.

Nice looking sweater, fits well and true to size. However, the wool fabrication is a bit rough to the touch and starting to pill on the sleeves.

Fit is fine but medium is far too long for my 5'5" 130lb body.

A quick visual inspection was very disappointing. Flaws and poor workmanship were immediately visible. For the first time in more than 40 years of buying from LL Bean I was sorry for having made a purchase.
The easy return policy was convenient but now where do I find a great Ragg sweater?

Love this sweater, the item number and size was the same as another sweater my husband has, but this one was 3" longer in the length and 1" longer in the sleeves.
I was able to call and talk with someone at LL Bean and a new one is on its way.

This review is not favorable. The sweater is pretty vanilla, inasmuch, no fancy design ... just straight stitch. I have had other wool sweaters from LL Bean that were A+, but this one was one to wear to the garage and change the oil. The wool is not first class, and after the second time it is worn, it losses its shape. Not worth wearing because it simply hangs on your waste looking like a sack. I am sure LL Bean made a lot of money on this item. Sorry, its not worth the 70 or 80 bucks it cost, even with their discount. Find a better one that you wouldn't mind showing off in front of your friends.

Ordered this to replace one I got 2 years back but which is now too large. The current model is not at all the same qualitya coarser wool and a coarser weave. Sent it back.

L.L.Bean - You are pressuring me into a review, so I'll do it, but this is stupid. I haven't even seen it, felt it, opened the package that it came in, so I obviously haven't even worn it. i ordered it on line, so I've only seen a picture of it. It's a Christmas Gift for someone else. I expect that it's good, or I wouldn't have ordered it. I only gave it 3 stars, but if I had actually seen it or worn it I might have given it 5 start or possibly 1 star. You should ask the gift recipient what he thinks, but wait until after Christmas, so someone's had a chance to at least try it on! L.L.Bean, you are too impatient, so you really don't get much of a review.

I have two of Bean's rag wool women's sweaters that I love and wear often. That is how many colors are offered for women - 2 - need more solid colors. What a wonderful warm sweater! So I tried a men's small in the soft spruce color. It fits great, little roomy, similar to the women's medium (5'6" 125 lbs), just a tad longer. The color is slightly different from the picture, better for men but ok. But unlike my others, there is a slight smell; a slight scratchiness; and when I wore it around my cool house I caught a chill (went and put my other one on and toasty warm). These 3 things lead me to believe this is toward sheep's wool rather than lambswool. This is a quality control issue at the supplier. I saw a returned women's one at the store that was this way. Finally, there is a 1-inch broken yarn sticking out front and center. Bean, your customer base pays a little more and comes to you for quality. I am trying to hang in there, but every purchase is a total dice-roll. Our family misses what you once were - quality every time. This one is going back. So disappointed.

I bought this to compliment my classic merino sweater from ll bean, which I love.
It's a bit less refinedcoarse on your skin in comparison. Also the wind blows through it more. Loosely knit. Ok for light fall days or spacing out a wind proof outer shell.
Still very nice sweater. Great for looking sharp, or feeling a little classier than your buddies in sweatshirts

Not quite the perfect sweater as I had hoped. I have owned several of LLBeans rag wool sweaters over the years. This is the second one I purchased this year. Sadly, like the first one I am returning it because of an imperfection in the material. The first one had a small hole in the material. I returned that and ordered a new one in exchange. I am hoping that one is okay. This one I wore twice and on taking it off last evening, I noticed a loose thread. I checked the inside and there was what I can only describe as a lump in the fabric. I assume it is some kind of manufacturing defect. Taking it back today and have ordered another one. Not sure what is going on, but I own several other llbean sweaters that have lasted me years and did not have any defects in them.

Nice sweater but the fit seemed strange. I found the fabric rather baggy at the arm/shoulder junction. Sorry, , but it did not seem up to the quality I have learned the expect from LLBeanIn the past. Is this because such merchandise is now mainly produced away from America.

Good solid quality. BUT really rough wool and itchy. Pretty thick which I was looking for just couldn't get past the feeling of suffocation and irritation all around my neck from the sandpaperish yarn. Also thought it ran small in my opinion- too tight and cinches at the waist which I am not a fan of and thought was reserved for 80s vintage sweaters- makes me look pudgy. Had to go back and am still searching for an alternative

I love the style of this sweater. I'm still nursing along a cotton version that I didn't see in the catalog this time. This wool sweater is warm, warm, warm but seems to be 'pilling' pretty quickly. Maybe that's normal for wool and I just have to get used to it.

I guess I misunderstood the "crew" part of this. I thought when I ordered a few of these that I would be imbued with a group of like-minded peers. It seemed logical to me that we would hang out wherever until all hours, watch the game, shoot some pool, or just have bro time. We'd be the Raggwool Crew. Sounds snooty maybe, but we'd welcome anybody who was cool to hang. Sure, we'd occasionally scratch ourselves under the itchy wool and that would be distracting, but we'd look absolutely fly in these fine threads. And with winter coming around, we'd be warm enough whether we were walking to the local bar, grilling ribs, or even tossing the football around in the yard. That crew of bros never showed up. And still, I miss them.

I ordered this sweater, two in fact, recently, after enjoying one for the last several years. Same size; same country of manufacture (China of course) recent orders were much larger. Doesn't the store verify these aspects?

I am partly disappointed in the sweater. After only wearing the sweater four times, it has already lost its shape and has stretched out around the bottom hem. I hate the way that looks in a sweater ... all hanging loose away from my waist. The rest of the sweater is fine. It is warm, the color is good and fits well except the ribbing at the bottom.

I've been wearing a medium size sweater all my life but the neck on this sweater is considerably larger than any crewneck I have ever encountered. If you plan to wear the sweater over a shirt you might be disappointed. I guess it might be fine if you wear your sweater without a shirt.

The sweater itself is fine. My disappointment was with the color. I was looking for a yellow/golden color as shown in the photo. In person, the sweater looks more brown than yellow. If you enlarge the photo, you can see the two tones of thread color.
