I wanted to like this sweater, but just didn't like how the sides are simply cut straight down from the chest to the waist creating an oversized mid section... Think Pillsbury Doughboy. The fit everywhere else (shoulders, sleeves, and chest) was good. Unfortunately, many of the L.L. Bean shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, etc. are cut like this. I'm returning the sweater. I suggest tapering the sides a bit.

I'm 6'1" and I purchased a large. The sleeves were too short came up above my wrist and the length was a drop too short as well. I like how it looks so I'm going to try an XL

I sent the first one I ordered back because only a couple of weeks after I were at the sweater began to fray. I have had the one I exchanged it for for a couple of weeks and it too is beginning to fray. I really like the style and comfort of this sweater, but I am very disappointed in the quality of its weave.

Small was pretty big and material was rough. Order way down.

Color was fine but not a true burgundy, as it had a lot of blue threads. Did not like the roll collar or the bumpy texture. This made it very casual. I like a traditional crew neck collar and weave. That way it can be worn for dressy or casual. Had it been a xl tall in this color and traditional I would have kept it.

The sweater is attractive but, as with most Bean items now, it's overpriced and poor quality. The collar fell apart within a week.

Normally I wear either a L or M shirt/sweater, depending on brand/cut. I ordered a L and M to try them both on. Didn't bother with the L, since I was absolutely swimming in the M. I have a fairly trim build, so maybe if you're a bigger guy it'll fit better. The sleeve and body lengths were OK, it was all the excess material that made it ridiculously baggy on me. Maybe when I was in high school back in the 90's, but not these days...

The sweater fit well and not tight. After one wear the stitching under the arm pit unraveled, leaving a hole in the arm pit. Rather disappointed because the feel of the material was quality as always but the stitching felt rather fragile.

I bought this for a gift for my husband. As soon as we took it out of the package, we noticed that it had a hole in the collar. I had seen some reviews about the collar falling apart, but I had assumed they were outliers since I have been happy with LL Bean quality in the past. However, the fact that our sweater arrived with hole makes me think that this sweater has quality issues.

Collar fell of after first wash. Washed cold, delicate and alone. Giant hole in collar. Won't be fooled into ll bean products again.

The sweater looked great but ran small. I've been finding that sizes in some of your clothing is running on the more fitted side and this don't work for me any longer.

I bought this for my birthday earlier this month. It fit perfectly when it arrived and it had a very good weight to it. After washing it according to instructions and letting it dry flat, it had shrunk probably a full size and no longer fit in the shoulders, arms, or body length. Such a disappointment.

I purchase this item last week and ended up returning it due size and bad quality. I'm surprised that LLB charges for return labels. If I knew, I would of return it to the store.

This is a nice looking sweater but poorly made. The neck seam unraveled after the first wear/wash to an extent that it did not look possible to repair. Not only the sewn stitches came apart, but also the knitting itself was unraveling.

I ordered a XXL, but received a XXXl and have to pay to have it returned.

Oh....how I wanted to love this sweater! Got it in Dark Cider - looked great and felt good. The problem is that one wash and I am seeing the neck seams give way. The knits are breaking down near the neck and it will no longer be wearable. Disappointed.

Used the True Fit feature just to make sure a large was what i needed, and my order got switched to XXXL and thats what shipped.

It runs very very large. Not true to size. Very rough fabric. Uncomfortable. Nothing good about it

I purchased this sweater several weeks ago, and upon receipt thought it was just what I had been looking for. That said, it turned out to be of lesser quality than expected. I wore it twice, and laundered it between wearing. When I went to put it on for the 3rd time, the left shoulder seam gad completely unraveled. Entire sleeve was almost falling off! Not what I was expecting from L L Bean!

Too short, very loose around the waist. Its a XXL Tall. The length is like its not a Tall, the waist seems kinda 3X-ish. I assumed it would be like other items I buy, so I washed it before i wore it. Too late to return. Skip this sweater if you are tall.

After 2 returns because of sizing issues, I finally received this sweater and it fit well. Before wearing, I decided to wash and dry, following care instructions to a T. The collar literally fell apart as you can see on the attached. I've never wore this sweater other than to try it on 3-days ago when I received it. Bottom line, L.L. Bean's quality is horrible and their fit is not much better.

I preface this by saying that I love L.L. Bean and always have. I should've remembered that their sizes tend to run a little big. That said, I'm 5'8" with a muscular build, so ordered a medium. When it came in, it fit like an extra large - no exaggeration. There were no smalls available for exchange, so I washed the garment in hot water several times to see if I could shrink it, but even that didn't do nearly enough. Sadly, I won't be able to wear this one out and about, and will just keep it as an expensive cozy winter sweater to be worn around the house.
