While I like this "shacket" I was expecting it to be a hooded version of the many flannel shirts I have worn for years. Instead this is really a light jacket. It has side pockets inside and out as well as the usual breast pockets. Also the sleeves are reinforced especially on the elbow. I would have preferred a little more detailed description. Considering it is a jacket more than a shirt I can understand the larger size but as others have noted as a shirt it is large for the specified size.

Fit is a whole size smaller. I use L shirts and jackets, got a M and it fits well. The tugs on the shirt I wear under, but it’s manageable.

I'm slender. 6'1 180, I ordered a medium but it's pretty snug for my frame. It's not as warm as I was hoping so I will only wear it in 55 degrees+ The colors are great and it's also well built like all bean.

It was a size up, even bigger probably. I was huge and Im not a small person 6ft, 200lbs and the large was too big.

Beautiful soft flannel. Fits my 6'5 grandson perfectly. Four stars because I wish this version would have had a heavier lining like the shirt jackets.

I bought these for my grandsons. Color and quality look good. Now to please the teenage grandsons. That is another matter. There are fitted a tad which should be good for the young men.

Two large game pockets at the front of the shirt (not mentioned in the catalog or online) pull the garment downward into an unflattering slump. Situation is exacerbated by the flimsy fabric. A real miss for LLB.

Soft and comfortable. High quality but not quite the material is not as thick as previous iterations. Nonetheless, a flannel shirt worth buying.

Nice indoor and mild weather. Comfortable and stylish. Has a VERY big hood.

I accidentally ordered a medium and needed to order a large but it still fits very well as long as it is unbuttoned. Very warm and well crafted. Would recommend

I wish you could still make this shirt with fleece in woman's sizes especially plus size. If you did I wouldn't have had to order a men's size which I'm debating whether or not to keep. Be inclusive woman's sizes especially plus sizes, thanks

Like everything about it. It was a gift and I got the wrong size so I will be returning it soon to exchange for a different size.

It has large inside pockets. There are outside pockets as well. Both sets of pockets are too large. The shirt is roomy and warm.

Very well made, a little oversized, probably because it is more of a jacket than a shirt. It is SUPER heavyweight, much more than a stadard flannel shirt, so keep that in mind as you purchase for your climate.

XX-Large Tall is what my son wears because of height and shoulders, but although the shirt was the quality expected from LL Bean, it was bigger and wider than a normal top of this size. I would recommend purchasing one size smaller.

For many years I've been looking for a replacement for my beloved-but-worn-thin flannel hoodie from JCPenney, which is now at least 25 years old. This "Men's Scotch Plaid Flannel Hooded Shirt" from L. L. Bean almost perfectly fits the bill. It's soft, comfortable, and fits well. However, the hood is surprisingly large (not a serious problem) and the sleeves are tighter than I expected, so it's not so easy to roll them up, which I usually like to do. In all other regards, I am very happy with this hoodie, and I expect it will last me a very long time. The workmanship seems good and shrinkage was barely detectable. I would have preferred a thinner and lighter flannel fabric but at least I don't have to worry about this one wearing through any time soon.

I bought this in a medium. It fits over several layers with plenty of room. It is comfy and cozy and I love it except for one problem - the left pocket was never sewn closed on the zipper side. I love the jacket and just have to remember not to put anything but kleenex in that pocket.

Really comfortable and pretty warm. Wish the sleeves were a bit longer, ordered a tall but sleeves still a bit short. Has nice inside pockets.

Love the flannel, love the real tartan although I wish there were a few more options. The snaps are convenient, but they do come undone pretty easily when I sit and stretch or when my kids sit in my lap which is slightly annoying but not a huge deal. I also wish they made women's tall as this is of course cut for a man and very boxy. The boyfriend look is in so I don't mind the bagginess, but I do wish I had the option to get something more fitted. I probably could have sized down but I really didn't want to lose sleeve length especially after washing/drying.

Sorry. I meant to write that the photo of the MacBeth Old Colours shows a much lighter blue and brighter blue than it is in person. Still a great hoodie!

I'm a woman but I purchased this hoodie because I appreciate the longer sleeves and longer length of Bean's men's shirts. I also bought it because I loved the color (MacBeth Old Colours) shown on the website. But it turns out that the blue displayed in the photo is a much darker blue. I actually thought I'd been sent the wrong color shirt but am disappointed that it turns out that I didn't. Aside from the color, I love the shirt. It's perfect over a shirt on a cool day and the hood is a nice bonus. I have a difficult time with buttons because of a stroke so my favorite part of the hoodie is that it has snaps.

The comfort of this overshirt is what I was looking for in cool, autumn temperatures. However, the huge inside pockets are of questionable usefulness and there is no provision for keeping the pocket tops from gaping open, such as velcro, snaps, zipper or buttons. Also, the hood seems to be too big, at least for my physical, 6'2" size so it comes down over my eyes when I have it over my head. While I will not be sending it back, I am a bit disappointed in the design of the shirt as L.L.Bean generally does not have anything for me to complain about.

I ordered an XLT, never had any problems before but this was too short in the arms and waist.

The placket in front with snaps has a large sewn in crease. I haven't ordered from LLBean in some time, and I'm very disappointed in the quality. Will not be ordering again.
