Merino wool is called the "itchless" wool. I love wool and over my life (74y/o) have owned countless sweaters, Irish wool tweed jackets and many of these shirts. They have gotten SO itchy, and the description still says they're Merino wool?

Very comfortable on first wearing, But be careful washing these shirts and order a size larger than what you think you need. Even washing in cold water and air drying, my shirts shrunk about a full size.

It's a good shirt. But it wrinkles after a wash. Even after a gentle wash. Too bad because my husband really liked the shirt.

Not as comfortable as I would like. I didn't like the way it looked after the first wash, especially around the collar which became wavy after washing. I am usually very happy with LL Bean and purchase many shirts over the years. This is really the first I've been disappointed in.

Looks disheveled after washing, very wrinkled. Dried on a hanger , also in dryer on low setting, same result.

OK, I did not buy one until I could try one on. I found one in a LL Bean store, tried on the only one there in medium. (I have purchased LL Bean shirts in medium and small, seems to depend on model). It was not good, little wide at shoulders and extremly long, almost to my knees. I really wanted a similar shirt but sizing is not good for me.
No small there to try on.

I purchased 2 of these thinking my husband would like them. Well, he does! BUT when I washed them, I learned just how much difficulty was involved. I did exactly what the label said to do. Wash in cold water and lay flat to dry. IT WAS A WRINKLED MESS!! So, I tried to dry them in the dryer but only for about 20 minutes. Then I laid them on a towel to dry after smoothing them out as best as I could. Then they need to be hung on a hanger in a special way so that they don't get all wrinkled from being on a hanger. It turned into a very long project. They could be put in a drawer, but we do not have the space to do that. I do not recommend this product. I wish I never purchased them.

Have been buying these Henleys for years. The warmth is half of what it always was. So much thinner and the price has increased drastically. Won't be buying from Bean anymore.

Don't underestimate the wool content - if you react to wool this shirt will irritate your skin. Otherwise it is a nice shirt.

I started buying these in the late seventies. It was a 3-button, taffeta lined placket. It was so cottony soft inside and wooly on the outside with a clear separation of the wool and cotton layering. More recently it has gotten much less defined between a soft cotton inside and a warm wooly feel outside (all thought they keep saying that). Infact, it's noticeably scratchy inside now and has been for years; with no well-defined difference in the fabric layering anymore. I'm 74 and have bought many over the decades. The last several have NOT been the soft cotton inside and nice wooly outside that they were years ago. If you just don't like or have reactions to scratchy wool, really, don't buy them. It's the scratchiest merino wool I've worn. I won't buy them or gift them anymore.

I wish you hadn't discontinued the nightgown of the same material. Last year I got a men's tall in the hope it would be a bit longer but it's not long enough for a small woman.
Please bring the gown/nightshirt back.

Shirt is well made and a lovely color (heather blue). But the sizing is WAY OFF. Ordered XXL and it was huge. Exchanged for XL and it was VERY small -- much smaller than the typical men's XL.

This is the first time that I have ever returned anything to LLBEAN, but after one washing it looked old. I wasn't satisfied with it at all. However, LLBEAN made it really easy to send back.

My husband just ordered this and a waffle Henley shirt. The waffle one is great, this one not so much. Washed per instructions, and the collar is all stretched out, as is the bottom of the shirt. Very dissapointed, especially for the price.

Great quality shirts, but way too long and stitching is very itchy around the neck. Had to return - hope Bean can rework these.

Fits great and warm. Nice color. After first time in laundry, the collar curled all up and won't straighten out. The rest of the shirt is still in good shape, but the collar looks weird and tickles my neck. Wish I could return it, but since it's been washed now, I guess I'm stuck. Sure isn't LL Beans normal quality, particularly for the price.

The shirt was big enough to be a house-dress, and I am a 5'4'' male of average weight (137lbs) and I ordered a size small. The color in the mailer was much nicer than the actual item, tho I realize it makes a difference in the printing. I also thought it was finished rather poorly, and I've come to expect better from LL Bean over the many years as a customer. Sorry.
