My husband and son are construction workers in northern Michigan. I bought my husband one in 2015 for Christmas. Now they both have numerous ones and say they are the best to get them through working outside all winter long.

After wearing my new blue one I bought three more colors which added to my daily winter layers. This shirt has just enough wool to be warm, just enough nylon for strength and just enough cotton to stay dry & comfortable on my skin. It's not thin and yet it's not bulky - a great first layer. Could become an LLB classic.

I have three others in different colors and wanted to add Black to my 'collection'. This Henley looks and fits great, is very warm and washes and dries with almost no shrinkage and are quite durable. I have the first one over 3 years with no tears, wear or weak spots. In NY it stays pretty cold this time of year and these Henley's are pretty much worn on a daily rotating basis. I highly recommend them for either work or leisure wear, as I tend to use them.

I use it under my biking jacket on cool days here in South Florida also nice on damp days.

This was a gift for my boyfriend who works outside all winter. He has one of these from many years ago that he still wears, so I thought he could use another. This is the same great quality of the older version. He was not disappointed!

Just got my new river driver's shirt, these have been a staple of mine, my oldest is 20+ years. Very warm, you can feel the outer layer is a little rough b/c of the wool, but I've had no issues with scratchiness, and it smooths out with washing anyway. One note - buy one size up, as these will shrink, as even LL Bean notes. I usually wear XL Regular, I bought XXL Tall, and it shrunk up and fits me very well.

I bought this for my 88 year old dad who spends his days inside. He typically wears sweatshirts, but this looks nicer and thicker material. He likes it, says it's warm.

Pretty much the best henley ever according to my husband. I bought him a few of these for the warmth and now he won't take them off. A great, well made, heavier type of henley to wear fall through spring. 6'1" 180 lbs and he wears a size large. Read the directions, these shirts have wool so let them air dry.

Bought for my son-in-law for Christmas and he loved it too!

I ordered this shirt in a large-tall for my 6'1", 175 lb. son, he has trouble finding shirts that after one wash, don't shrink up in the arms and torso. This shirt was perfect. It's soft but very durable. My only complaint is that LL Bean would make more of their popular items around the holidays. There are always so many items on backorder. I would have ordered quite a few more items if they would have been in stock.

Perfect fit and zero shrinkage. Comfortable fabric with good sleeve and tail length. I'm a happy warm camper.

These shirts (and I ordered 2 of them) are very well made and are warm when used as an under garment. I will say though that they are very form fitting. I bought them for my husband who wears a medium and must say it is a close fitting medium. Hope they don't shrink in washing.

This shirt hits the mark. I bought it for my husband who works outside and Michigan winters can be brutal! He needs a t-shirt under it because it is itchy, but it adds just enough layering to help keep him warm! He loves it and it fits him nicely!!! Seriously, it looks REALLY GOOD on him!

These are super warm and not too bulky. I wear one all winter. L is big enough even though I usually wear XL tees under it. I buy them 2 at a time.

Suggested by a friend whose husband owns 10 of these 2 layer henleys. It's difficult to find quality Large Tall casual shirts. This shirt is great! I was warned to expect it to shrink a bit and it's good because it fits very well after machine wash gentle and dyer on low ( yes I put it in the dryer). My husband is 6'1 and 210# the large tall looks good and can be worn alone or layered.

Bought two of these Two-Layer Driver's Henley in Bone Heather and Apple Cinnamon colors in Large ( Traditional fit ) and here are my takes: 1) They shrink just a tad bit... enough for me to layer it over a flannel shirt or a t-shirt. Very, very comfortable. Not too big but not too tight either. PERFECT! 2) These henley shirts are OVEN WARM and kept me NICE AND TOASTY. 3) Pairs well with khakis and jeans. 4) Soft on the skin. They do not itch like some reviewers experienced. 5) Have one for about ten years ( I still keep it )... so you know they will last and last!!

On the advice of a friend I purchased my first river driver shirt about 25 years ago for a river rafting trip and have been buying them ever since. They are soft and warm but not heavy or bulky and they wear like iron. Whether for camping or just wearing around the house they are the best!

Been wearing these shirts since I left Maine way too long ago for college. If anything, they just get better with each purchase. They have always and continue to shrink with first washing. Get the tall in your usual size.

My son has been wearing these his whole life, so it's a Christmas staple. He likes the way they feel and they don't shrink or stretch out of shape. The colors are also perfect for him.

I buy this shirt for my husband every year for Christmas. He loves them. He wears them all throughout the Fall/Winter and once they get a stain they become a work shirt. I'm pretty sure if I did not buy him one every year I would get the "I didn't get a River Driver Shirt this year!?" Haha. Oh another Pro for the shirt is that they are offered on Tall sizes!

My husband loves this Two-Layer Henley. It says to dry flat but I can't do that so I dried it in the dryer. It did cause a little shrinkage in the width but still good. He got a tall size and the sleeves and length are generous. If you dry flat there probably would not be shrinkage.

This is a fantastic shirt. I purchased a men's small since llbean doesn't have the women's style anymore and I am 6' tall and need the arm length. I have been wearing it all the time, through single digit temps or just hanging around the house. It provides a good layer of warmth all by itself. Because a layer is wool, if you throw it in the dryer it will shrink, so try to lay it flat...you will be happy you did. Having said all that, it does fit better for a man's frame and not a woman's. I do wish llbean would seriously consider bringing back the woman's style (and maybe tall sizes). I would buy every color in a heartbeat. It's that great a shirt!
