Quality is top notch but the XL felt like I was wearing a garage sack is was so baggy. Worn it twice and it hangs in the closet gathering dust. I should have sent it back for an exchange. This year in 2018 I sized down on another order and was pleased. XL felt like a XXXL.

My husband wore this shirt right away even though it was a little large. He likes it. Haven't washed it yet, so don't know if it will shrink.

Actually I bought two Chamois shirts. The first was a beautiful green, all the shirts I wear are ex.large, so I ordered this one ex. large.I thought it may shrink a little and that would be fine. I tried it on when it arrived and it was big on me,I washed it and it did not shrink enough. So I bought one in grey, size large.I tried this one on and it fit better. However the shirt tail is still as long as the green one.The shoulders fit me fine, the chest size, sleeves are good,it's just the length of the shirt tail that I not comfortable with. These two shirts are six to seven inches longer than my other flannel shirts.Hopefully washing and drying will help them fit me better.

I bought this for my grandfather for Christmas. I guestimated on his measurements (included his here, not mine) as he is in his 80s and a relatively slight build; he's not much taller than me.
I was leery of buying a larger size, though I considered the medium as he has put on weight and I didn't want the small to fit too snug around the belly, but I also didn't want the medium size sleeves or width to be too baggy. However after trying it on he said it fit "perfectly." Phew, thank goodness! I will note that I also bought the 1933 fancier chamois for my bf who is taller and skinnier and he said it fit just about perfectly except the sleeves were a little short. So keeping in mind that both of these men in my life are far from tall, big guys--those of you who are might want to size up!
I bought this in blue and it was true to what was advertised--a classic, dark navy blue--not cobalt or anything bright. It is soft and seems of medium thickness--not too heavy it makes moving around bulky but not so thin it's basically your average button up.
My grandpa owns a billion and one flannels collected over the years but I figured he could use something new that could either serve for lounging around in or slightly dressed up if he chose to, as well as for the mild chilliness we get in CA during winters.
I did purchase this with an LL Bean discount which was nice, but considering that this was well-sized and well-received, I'd consider buying again if, to me, more interesting colors were offered!

The two shirts fit fine and are of good quality. Ordered two last year and they are fine, but the two I ordered and received a few months ago have button holes that are too small.
Very hard to get the buttons through the holes. Both shirts are the same. What happened? Would give them 5 stars except for this flaw.

I don't know how many years I have been wearing the Chamois style shirts but I do know it's been at least 10 years. This shirt really looks sharp with the outdoors look. It's sturdy and can be washed and worn without having to iron. Looks good and I've worn them for dinner engagements along for daily wear. The only negative and it has nothing to do with quality is that I'd like to see this shirt offered with button down collars. The shirts I bought years ago had the button down collars and being just a little OCD, I liked the look. Again, nothing to keep me from buying the current style, as I bought 3 shirts this Christmas in different colors, all w/o button down collars.

The fabric weight of this shirt is excellent and the styling and structure are of good quality. We purchased the gray color, and it is exactly as pictured in the catalog. The fit; however, is overly large. The recipient always wears a "large," and this shirt was too big overall and had to be exchanged for a "medium." The sizing problem is the reason for only 4 stars.

Nicely constructed shirt. It is a little large in the shoulder for a medium but the sleeve length was fine. The body of the shirt is designed to fit a heavier person, especially in the waist.

This is a really nice shirt- warm and comfortable. My husband had gotten one 2 years ago and wears it often in cooler months. My brother liked it too so I ordered him one for Christmas. He always wears a size medium but told me this one was very wide across the back. He's exchanging it for a small.

Excellent quality but suggest ordering one size smaller than the usual, the shirt is cut extremely large.

This is a very well made chamois flannel, thick, and with the promise of years of warmth and wear. If it was true to size would definitely have been a "keeper". Regrettably, the medium was more like a large - way too roomy in the belly, and too long in the sleeves. We sent it back for a refund, as there was almost no selection to replace it.
4 stars for the high quality construction and fine choice of material.

Love this classic shirt. Ordered one for my husband for Christmas to replace one he had 45 years ago on our wedding trip. He normally wears a size medium. I was rather surprised and disappointed to find that this medium is way too big on him. Am re-ordering a small. I sure hope that will fit better.

This is a great, VERY warm and well built shirt! You can tell that it will last for decades. My only thought is that it runs larger than I expected. I'm 5'9" 170 lbs and I'm almost certain that I could've settled with a medium. The sleeve length is slightly long, but the shirt is much longer than I expected, thus leading to a lot of material. I plan on exchanging for a medium. You may want to order one size down on this one!

I ordered two Chamois shirts in size large tall. One shirt was made in Nicaragua and fit was pretty well, the other shirt was made in El Salvador and is bordering on being too large. I have older Chamois shirts that I bought where the fit ran on the small side. The shirts are very well made and comfortable it just seems like sizing needs to be tweaked for consistency sake.

I have been buying these shirts for years and have always thought highly of them. In fact, the last three shirts that I bought are a size smaller than my usual size because they are cut so generously. They are also among the softest and warmest shirts I have ever owned. That being said, I have recently found something that is becoming increasingly annoying: the pockets on the shirts are too short to accommodate a small smart phone (iPhone 6s). That is not only true of this shirt would also your canvas shirts. Fortunately, with those I removed all the buttons and replaced them with bits of Velcro. The chamois shirts are too heavy to do that with.

I am very pleased with this shirt. Excellent quality and very sturdy feel. My rating would actually be about 4.8 if that was an option. I would only suggest that the pockets be a little deeper (at least 1" deeper). Your average pen or phone is about 6" and the inside of the pocket is only about 4 3/4" deep, so the flap sticks up like a flag when you put something in it, which is a little dorky looking. (By the way, my profile nickname is supposed to be SuthrnMan4Christ. Don't know how that got changed.)

Initially wanted a yellow one, but it was out of stock. Next choice was navy blue, which was in stock and in the size I wanted. Easily ordered, paid, shipped, and received all according to the website. I am extremely satisfied with the purchase and with the overall experience. Thanks.

I answered no to the question "would you recommend to a friend", I would if he was either somewhat smaller or larger and I thought the shirt would fit him OK. I wear Medium size in almost every shirt, sweater etc that I own. Sometimes shirts run a little small and I go to a large. I ordered a medium in this shirt and it was huge. I returned it for a small and the small is a little tight. I'm going to keep it but don't think I would order again. Hope it doesn't shrink.

This is an American classic. You should own one.The quality is outstanding. It is a very thick and warm shirt.Or is it a jacket?Anyway the fit in size small did work for me because it was too tight in the stomach area. The rest of it fit very well.So I did return it.I know the medium would be too large. The older versions of this shirt fit me better.

It's a shirt. I could end there but will add that it's comfortable, very warm, and good looking. Because it's 100% cotton I bought a size larger. After a wash and dry it fit almost perfectly.

As long as you order up a size it's great. I purchased an XL size and it was like a bathrobe. I washed in hot water and is now a perfect fit.

This is a great quality chamois shirt, I bought the xl which my husband always wears in other brands, this ran a bit large, the color and softness are excellent though. Next time I will order a size down.

This shirt, while warm, comfortable and practical, lacks a variety of colors. Granted it only has colors that mesh with those an outdoors man would identify with, but some customers do their hunting and hiking from the recliner and thus do not restrict their colors. Please expand those available. My only complaint is that the pockets are unique and take a little adjustment for the wearer - not enough of a problem to remove it from the "I approve!" list.
