I drove a good bit to visit a L.L. Bean store to try on this shirt. In most cases, I wear a medium shirt, and sometimes I wear a large. After trying on a medium, which was insanely big, I tried the small. The shoulders and chest, along with arm length, were perfect. However, the length on the shirt is awkwardly long. It went down to my quads. It's definitely a shame. It's thick, and warm, and is really well made. But, the length....

Nice shirt, fits well, however the dark lagoon color is indeed dark, and not as bright or as blue as in the photo.

I have owned the Medium Men's Chamois Shirt, Traditional Fit in the past but after a year or so they tend to shrink and end up to short for my body. Since these shirts last me years I thought I would try something new this round. This time I went with the Tall sizing. When the shirt arrived I was shocked at how long it was. However after just one warm wash it shrunk to 1" longer than the Regular fit in the sleeves. Just what I was looking for.

I bought my Dad one of these about 15 years ago, which he wore regularly for his remaining 5 years. And then I snitched it after he was gone, and wore it until it was quite thread-bare. (I'm a outdoorsy, 60+ year old female, who wears it as an over-shirt.) I called LL Bean last year to ask if they still made this shirt in muted teal, but they didn't. When I saw this "dark lagoon" (a bluer & darker blue/green), it was close enough that I bought it. While this new replacement is no longer my favorite "Dad" shirt, it's beautiful, comfortable, and a great over-shirt that I'll wear regularly, while thinking of him.

Pockets need to be deeper to accommodate cell phone, etc. Have owned many over years and pockets gotten shallower.

I have some older LL Bean chamois shirts in 2xl that fit but this is larger and not really my size. I would be better with XL. Otherwise I love these shirts.

In the past the chamois shirts came in several lighter or heavier weights or thickness? I have one from 30 years ago that is a bit lighter. Are they still available?

I purchased four chamois shirts. The material varied. The shirt with the red check had very thick and plush material. Other shirts were not as plush. I have purchased these shirts in the past and noticed that they tend to wear out on the end of the sleeves. This becomes apparent due color of the backing material, which is white. I have many other chamois shirts that wear better everywhere, especially at the end of the sleeves.

I've been buying these shirts for many years and love them for winter wear. In the past, a few have had wrinkle problems, but the fit and durability are excellent. The bad part is they are about to exceed my price limit on a fixed income.

I wish the sleeves were about a half-inch shorter.

Warm, beautiful color. Sizing is a little misleading and runs large. Made a conscious effort to shrink it, and it did shrink a little. Wished it was more true to size. Material could be softer but perhaps it will soften with more wearing and washing. Great as a jacket shirt but kind of loose to wear as a regular shirt.

I am 6' 2" with a 44 inch waist and a 51 inch chest. This shirt, even though I bought it to use as an over shirt, was HUGE. The chest was moderately too large, but the waist would easily fit someone with a 50 inch waist, and the tail extends below the bottom of my rear trouser pockets. Similarly, the sleeves are about one and a half inches too long. I normally wear a 35 inch sleeve. I have two Bean chamois shirts I bought about ten years ago. They are a size XL and are just a bit too snug to wear as an over shirt. The older shirts are softer, beautiful, and made in El Salvador. The new shirt was made in Nicaragua. The new shirt seems to be of good quality, but this shirt could benefit from being slightly fitted in the waist and shorter in the tail.

This shirt provides warmth without being too heavy. My only negative is that it the fabric felted more after a few washings, even when using a dryer sheet.

Fabric, construction and fit all excellent. Same problem here with pockets that I had with Bean pants recently. Why make such a nice product and skimp on pockets? Is small pockets where the profit is?!?!?!? My iPhone sticks out an inch plus. My note pad uses 3x5 cards and sticks out 1.5 inches. The only thing I routinely carry in shirt pockets that can be buttoned down securely is eye drops. If you used the same amount of fabric to make one big pocket it would not be optimal. But it would be better. Again: I simply do not get it. Why make such a good shirt and then skimp on the pockets? Seems foolish to me. No pocket pinching at Duluth Trading or Filson.

I ordered the men's size corresponding to my Womens' size as you do not offer this shirt for larger ladies. I cant say it works because it is different in the way clothing for women is designed. PLEASE offer this shirt for women in the larger sizes even if it has to be a bit more expensive. I have always loved these chamois shirts which become super soft over time as has my companion. He would wear them till they were worn thin.

I rarely give 5's so take star rating with a grain of salt. Like most heavier flannel shirts from LL Bean these are stiff and a little too large at first, then soften and shrink to fit after several washes in warm and with normal machine drying. Sleeves may get a tad shorter if you launder as I do. Not the heaviest weight but definitely heavier than traditional flannels. Will pill with machine washing and drying but that doesn't bother me as I like to break my new clothes in to a worn in look and feel as quickly as possible. Go up a size to wear as an outer layer. I'm a 40R and Bean's mediums fit me best.

I own eight of these shirts. Love them. But no two of them are cut the same. The arms are all of a different length. They all fit my torso differently. They aren't so different that I cannot wear them. And I love the material. But each one fits differently from the other. You'll note that I marked it as slightly large. I didn't want to mark any of the choices. Some are snug. Some are a bit large. A couple fit perfectly.

This shirt is soft and warm. I gave it to my husband for Christmas, and he loves it. It seems to run a little big in the body, but it is a nice comfy shirt, so he is good with the sizing. The color is a little more yellow/gold than what I expected judging from the color on the internet. I would have preferred something a little paler, but it is ok.

This nice shirt needs slightly deeper pockets to hold a smart phone; in my case an iPhone 7. Pockets with Velcro closures rather than buttons would make me happier.

I love the shirt, but the sizing is completely wrong. I wear Bean size Tall/Large, which is what this shirt is. The sleeves come down almost to the ends of my fingers. The shirt comes down 2/3 of the way to my knees.

XL-Regular is slightly larger than expected. Arm Length=ok (same as most); shoulder width=1/2-1" wider than what I have bought at other vendors; Length=1" - 2" longer than what I have bought at other vendors. Due to length it is difficult to tuck into trousers - too much excess material. Material and fit is very comfortable for use when lounging at home; however, length and inability to tuck into trousers makes it unusable for me when shopping or visiting friends. I wear this shirt during the Fall & Winter; but wearing it un-tucked does not work well with a winter jacket. Sleeve length prevents me from going to a smaller size such as "Large".

I love these shirts and have several in different colors. They are warm in the winter months without overheating. I'm a 2XL Tall and that size fits just great. I dont like shirts that are tight fit and prefer these since they do fit nicely, but lose. The one downside I have seen to these shirts is the elbows seem to wear out quickly. I'm not sure why this happens. I'm watching my most recent order to see if and how quickly the elbow wears out. Bottom Line: Order the shirt. I think you will be pleased.
