These hiking shoes are probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. The sole is a very soft, cushioning material. Leather is of the highest quality. The only thing keeping them from being perfect is that they do not have that helpful loop on the back heel of the shoe to help you get them on. I don't know why shoe companies stopped having that feature. If any product people read these reviews, please let us know. Otherwise...Awesome - highly recommended!

As soon as I saw these waterproof Alpine Hiking Sneakers I had to have them. They look great and feel so comfortable on my feet. I can't wait for the fall weather to begin so I can wear these on the trail and around town!

The Alpine Hiking Sneakers fit perfectly and have excellent arch support. They are good looking. I wish I had them on a recent European trip. Our home has hardwood floors. When I am wearing these, only our cat moves about more quietly than I do.

Great comfortable Boot. If it is still this good in a few years then I'll up my rating to 5 stars, but I have had them only a few weeks. So far, so good!

Wore them out of the box for a week. Then went to Baxter State Park in Maine for a weeks hiking. Great fit. Comfortable. Seems a bit of slipping on wet mossy areas. Great traction on rocks and roots.

Love the boots, but one of the hooks came off 2nd day, the laces are way too long and cheap. Would ha e been 5 stars otherwise

This is my first pair of Hiking boots of this type.. Size is good but a smidge tighter than I expected but I guess that's good so my feet don't slide around in them and they will offer good support. They are pretty light weight and look good too.

Traction on wet surfaces was not what I would have wanted. Aside from that, the fit is wonderful and the waterproofing does work. All in all am pleased. The sales person who helped in fact fitted the boot as opposed to just selling it. That separates LL Bean from other like companies.

Loved the boots but after trying 2 different sizes, I had to give up. Too narrow and pinches at top of foot above the arch. Toe box and length fine.

I am finishing my third month of use and have waited to see how they hold up. This is really a leather hiking sneaker requiring a minimum of breaking in. They are very flexible; you can walk on a hardwood floor and not make a sound. The construction is flawless, but I need to be critical about two things: They are a highly cushioned shoe and this will exaggerate any structural issue you may have with your foot such as pronation. After three days, I noticed I was starting to experience supination so I used arch supports which firmed up the shoe. The tread tracks both mud and snow more than any shoe I have owned. In mud or snow, the tread fills up and then has less traction. All in all, this is a good shoe which is priced right and well made. I would recommend it for someone who wants to wear it full time as a leisure shoe or someone who hikes only occasionally and needs a shoe that won't take a week to break in. One final note: The leather is of good enough quality that it can be water and snow proofed with LL Bean Boot Guard. My feet have stayed dry in some very wet conditions.

I used to own a pair of LL Bean boots back in the day about 10 years back. I decided to buy a new pair of boots recently and my first thought was let's check out what LL Bean has to offer. I found these boots and I ordered them. I wore them the first evening itself for about a two mile walk. These Boots are extremely comfortable and have a very quick break in time. I've been wearing them about three times a week since I got them and I have had no problems with them so far. These shoes have been extremely supportive for my feet. The only one little gripe I have is that I wish the last three loops for the laces were rounded off and not opened just like the rest of them because they are placed quite close to each other and sometimes you can't tell which one you're getting into.

The only thing keeping thse from being 5 star is the lack of a finger pull at the back to help get them on. They're comfortable and fit true to size.
They aren't heavy or hot, so good for wearing an extended period of time in all temperatures.
No break in period - have worn to work every day since receiving them.

I haven't worn these boots much yet. Regardless, they are very comfortable and should prove to be very suitable - but, then I like leather boots; leather provides better support - my very first pair were from Bean's 40 years ago rugged rough-outs similar in style. These are equal in quality - actually better than the originals. I'd buy another pair....

The boots fit great... They look great... No need to worry about breaking them in... I walked through water with them and had no worries... im excited to get great use out of these. Only reason they didn't get 5 starts is because I've only had them for so long and there's still other environments I want to try them in, but I'm confident they will do the job well.

Not as waterproof as I would like. And I wish I had bought the insulated boots instead as they are quickly becoming what I turn to for winter boots. They have been comfortable from the start and fit almost perfectly.

Extremely comfortable. Great to walk/hike in. We shall see how long they last. Wouldn't mind if they were slightly taller.

I saw in the reviews of these boots all the comments about lace hooks popping out, and I read a reply from LL Bean last December that they reported the defect out to their product development team. So I bought in confidence that they wouldn't waste my time and their money shipping bad boots out, would they? The boots had all the features I wanted, and I wanted a brand I could trust. My waterproof Columbia boots started leaking after a little over a year.
The LL Bean boots fit snug when I got them Wed. I rode out on my bike Thursday night, being extra gentle with those laces as I tied up. About a mile into my ride I noticed the lace knot on my right boot was on one side of the shoe. Somehow the top lace hook gently popped out with so little friction or drama I hadn't even noticed. If you look at the picture, it's almost like it wasn't ever really attached at all. God, I hate returning stuff.
