The boot is really lightweight and a good fit. The boot does exactly what it claims to do.
Big fan of them.

Well made boot. Only tried them on and really like the fit. I ordered 9, whereas I normally wear a 10 or 10 1/2.

I ordered these boots for our son back in November 2016. Didn't received them until mid March...after the last snow. I'm not sure what the hold up was but given the quality of the boot it was worth the wait. He'll be able to wear these for years. They are somewhat big, but we think a thicker sock will help with that. Better than getting a smaller boot.

I'm a first time buyer for these boots. I like them so far. Knowing the L.L.Bean product are built to last is great. I'm sure if any issue comes up, they will address it.

The first pair arrived with a minor flaw, return was easy and quick. My first new boots in years and I'm eager to give them a try at the first chance.

Just started wearing these iconic Bean boots with the 12' Merino Wool Socks in the snow & 20 degree weather. Feet stayed dry & warm. However, I wasn't 100% happy with the craftsmanship. Although the leather upper attachment seems adequate, I noticed some of the leather edges seem to be cut slightly uneven & ruin the appearance somewhat.Lastly, the bottom part of the tongue appears to bunch up when I lace them up creating an unsightly look.Workmanship doesn't seem seem to meet the usual high L.L. Bean Standards. However, I'm willing to wear them some more & by doing so some of these issues will disappear? Maybe my expectations are scaled too high or possibly I just got an odd pair?

the boots are nice but run really large. my son is an 11 and it ends up he is a 9 in this boot. problem is i ordered these in Oct. to get them in time for winter. Now that he needs a smaller size, he has to wait until end of Feb. Ugh!!!!

We love Bean boots. These boots were supposed to be a Christmas present for my son who had outgrown his old pair. We ordered in November and they were back-ordered. His birthday is in February, so I told him they would be a birthday present. He wears a 9 in all other shoes - Nike tennis shoes, other boots, Sperry shoes. So, when the back-ordered boots came in - in late January - and I gave them to him for his birthday, they did not fit - by a lot. They were easily an entire size too big. He was disappointed, and I have returned for a smaller size, but please order small!

The boots felt comfortable on my foot when I tried them on at home. You probably should test fit them in the store if possible. I had to send them back and re-order a smaller size. I felt like the leather was a bit lower quality than my red wing heritage boots and the LLBean boots I had years ago. The boot is sized so that even with the thinsulate version and winter wool socks I need a full size down. I normally measure for a wide shoe but, the regular width on these seemed wide. I had some 20 plus years ago as well as the mock boots. These newer ones felt more comfortable as far as the rubber quality and softness. The leather difference may have been a change to the finishing. I hope the next set I get three months from now fit or I'll start over.

I read the previous reviews before ordering and ordered a size down. I normally wear a 9 in boots and ordered an 8. Fit is good. Not totally broke in yet as I received them a week ago. I was disappointed that the Thinsulate did not go all the way up in the ankle area but with wool socks the boots are warm if you are active. Snowblowed and worked in the yard for 6 hours and feet did not get cold. Hope the rubber lasts.

Can tell these will be great boots. My two comments echo others:
1) They will run big. I wear a 10.5M shoe, and so I bought a 10 boot. They fit perfect. I have the thinsulate, and I can wear a medium weight wool sock, and my toes still have room to "wiggle". In fact, I have a small heal slip issue with one boot, indicating I could not get a larger size if I wanted. However, with the size I have, the width cannot be any narrower, or the boots would pinch my feet. My feet our not wide by any means.
2) Finally, they are molded, semi-soft rubber bottoms. At first walking seemed strange, but I quickly got use to it.

I have a problem with how you measure feet, I wear a 10 1/2 regular shoe I followed your recommendations and got a size 9. It's a little tight, it would be nice to have 1/2 sizes as I think they would have fit perfectly if they were a 9 1/2, still not complaining though cause it was exactly what I wanted, just wish it wasn't so tight(I kinda like things a little loose), it's perfect I guess if you use regular socks(as you recommended), I just like to dress in layers and there's no room even with thin socks. Still it was worth it IMO.

I love bean boots. I really do, I've owned a few pairs over the year. I'm not sure if anything quality wise has changed but my new pair just doesn't seem right. They seem off a little by means of stitching and angle of certain panels. Maybe it was just because of who made mine, but I hope next years are better.

I'm starting with what's wrong with the boots. "Ash" is a grey color by any conventional definition. I was hoping they would be a little grey, but the pictures are accurate: they are a dark-olive green-brown color. Also, I only got the gold laces and I'm pretty sure that there should be some leather ones included.
Besides that, they're pretty and they fit perfectly (I ordered about a half size down from what I usually wear).

Great looking and very comfortable boots. Can't wait for winter! Also, LL Bean is so easy and efficient to order from online.

I ordered smaller as per the size guide ... they're too small! Also somewhat disappointed, these are NOT insulated. There's a small amount of thinsulate at the bottom but nothing for the ankles or legs.

Since I could not wear them in the conditions they were meant for all I can say is that they both fit comfortably, but I have not walked around in them and of course in this part of the country there was no snow and ice left when I got them. But your products have always been excellent and I've never had any complaints of any of my other purchases, so I suppose these will be the same.

The boot is great but the 2 months it took to get them. Once we got them they were too long for my daughter - luckily they fit my other daughter. So we ordered another pair and have to wait another 3 months for another pair. The wait is just too long. I know LL Bean is working on ramping up production, but I think they could have seen this coming. The only saving grace is that I know they will last a lot longer than a year and if they don't they will be replaced so I am taking the long term investment approach.

I have bought the non insulated boots for 40 years. This time I ordered the Thinsulate edition. It's wonderful. Had to wait for 5 weeks because demand is higher than production.

The sizing that LL Bean suggest for their Bean Boots is not universal. I ordered according to their sizing guides. I wear an 8.5 and so I ordered a 7. With the Thinsulate insulation, the recommended sizes are not accurate. I should have ordered an 8. Unfortunately, the wait time for an exchange pair was sometime in April, and so I returned my pair for a refund.

These boots are perfect for winter. I wear them with the thick LL Bean Boot Socks. The site suggested TTS (11) with thick wool socks, but that wasn't the case. The boots were too big. I exchanged them for a 10. The fit is better, but not perfect. I may need to buy something to keep my heels from slipping at all. The thinsulate keeps the feet warm, but if you're prone to feet sweat, tread carefully. 4/5 for the boots, but 5/5 for LL Bean's customer service throughout my exchanges. A+ company.

I have these in the women's model and I think they are great for keeping feet warm and dry. I ordered these for my husband, but the shoe was too large. He usually wears 11 1/2, so I ordered a 12 and they were way too large-wouldn't have even fit with a wool sock. I wanted to exchange for an 11, but they quit making them in the ash color and the other color was on backorder until January.

Boot is at least a full size larger than the stated boot size, even with a heavy pair of hunting socks. Toe box is slightly narrow. Bottom heel sole should be at least 1/2-3/4" wider, tends to roll over and be
unstable on rough ground. Should have a padded collar option as the top of the boot tends to chafe your leg when the boot is tightly laced.
All in all, not a bad boot. Given their cost, I'll have to wait until I wear
these out to get a new pair - might be a long time though as they seem to be really well built.

I bought this boot because the one without thinsulate was backordered, and I hoped that the insert might be removable as I had seen that mentioned in a prior review. The potential versatility appealed to me. Well, the insert is not removable. It is sewn in with the same stitching that attaches the leather upper to the rubber bottom of the boot. The lining also doesn't extend all the way to the end of the boot, so it feels quite small initially but does stretch out fairly soon. I usually wear a 9 or 9.5, and got this boot in an 8. With the insert it ended up being still too tight after several hours of wear. And too hot for Portland OR. I've returned the lined boot and ordered the non-lined boot and will just have to wait.

My hubby has a wide foot and a high instep. His older beloved and worn out 12" Bean Boots were a size 11 EE. I followed the sizing recommendation to order down for a half size (his shoe size is 10.5 EE) and when the boots came the size 10 EE was too small even with one pair of light weight socks. I should have stuck with his old Bean Boot sizing. He also wanted a taller leather part, as we have very deep snow here and he doesn't like snow going down into his boots! We returned these, to exchange for the Gore tex/thinsulate boots in size 11 EE. Alas, that style fit too snug due to thickness of the liner. Our solution will probably be to buy the 11 EE in this style where he can use his normal warm LLBean woolen boot socks, and have him wear gaitors in deep snow. One great thing about the Thinsulate bottom...it's warm!
