I used to wear a version of these 20 years ago. Since then I've tried many other brands, wasted too much money and time, and have come back to these Trail Model LLBean shoes. You SHOULD wear thick wool socks with these, and if you do they'll reward you with utmost support comfort and weatherproof-ness. I own these in 2 colors and am about to purchase a sky blue which just came out. These shoes serve me perfectly for walking up and down San Francisco hills with my two giant dogs AND going out to dinner with friends! The normal size do run narrow as many reviewers have noted which is perfect for me since my feet are narrow.

Good sturdy shoe. I normally wear a size 9 but these 8 1/2 fit perfectly. Sides near ankle are a little stiff and this may be uncomfortable for some people.

Great shoes, very comfortable. My only concern were the shoe laces (I bought new ones which is no big deal). They just would not stay tied even when I double knotted them.

Wore these shoes for 5 weeks breaking them in before doing the Camino Portuguese in Spain. 10 miles a day, no sweat. 70 miles total over 8 days. Took the brunt of cobblestones as well as woodland trails. Started using this shoe 6 years ago as a sales associate at Home Depot. They get wet and come right back.

Fit well, are sturdy, and are comfortable. I've been getting these and the non-waterproof version for years, and like that they hold up well. Waterproof are stiffer than non-waterproof. I use them for walks and easy to moderate trails.

Great shoe, have been wearing them for years. The only thing that could be changed is the shoe laces. They untie often due to being a round lace. Need a flat side at the knot.

They look great, feel great and I need the water-proofing for Cincinnati weather!

I use this shoe for my three mile walk and other outdoor activities. It keeps my feet steady on rough ground and is so comfortable to walk in. The best walking shoe I have ever worn. I have worn this shoe for several years and please do not discontinue it.

My shoe size is 8M but these were to tight and edge around the ankle was stiff and uncomfortable. I am returning today for exchange in an 81/2. Other than this the shoes are attractive and I like the color.

I'm used to wearing the most comfortable shoes so I was slightly apprehensive about ordering a stiffly constructed hiking shoe but boy was I surprised at how comfortable it is! The inner sole materials are quite comfy. The support is incredible! My feet do not hurt regardless how rugged the terrain and the solid construction protects me from Mother Nature's rocks, logs etc. Great shoe, great look.

I ordered these hiking shoes for myself since I was happy with another LL Bean shoe, I bought a few years ago. I love the new ones too. They are a nice blue 2 tone color. They were very comfortable the first time I wore them, I did not have to break them in like some other shoes when first wear them. I bought a wide width so have plenty of room with my heavy wool socks I wear.

These shoes are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. They fit me perfectly. They have a wonderful tread for hiking and are a pretty color.

At 80 yrs, I needed a comfortable shoe for walking where it may be wet, muddy, and/or snowy. This shoe is perfect! The fit is great. It is waterproof. It feels like the inside is padded. The tread is thick so there is less chance to slide. I love these shoes!

These are wonderful shoes. They look good and provide excellent support for walking. I use them for light hiking situations and wear them everyday for my 3 mile daily walks thru town. The soles are sturdy and provide protection to your feet and toes.

True for half sizes hooray! Really like these rugged sneakers, sure says they are for the trails but you can have a thousand pound horse step on them and they stood up to the abuse. Not a scratch on them, highly recommend for whatever your rugged activities include.

Size 8 fits, even with narrow heel, and room for warm socks. Otherwise, I would have ordered 7.5.

Cushioned well fitting comfortable shoe. My go to sneaker in wet or cold windy weather as it is waterproof.

Very comfortable; fit perfectly (true to size). I have worn them on long walks/hikes; no need to break them in.

Shoes were a little stiff in the beginning but broke in quickly. Great when hiking in all weather. I wear them every day.
