These boots are great for walking the dog off-road and in the mud. However, even though they are shearling-lined and the website classifies them as "warmer" they do not keep my feet warm. In order to wear these boots and have warm feet in mild winter temperatures like 35 degrees, I needed to purchase the shearling insole for an extra $30 (after already paying more than $200!). On the plus side, the insole managed to help the fit of the boot by adding a much-needed half size. How anyone who claims Maine in their brand can say anything is "warmer" when the footbed is rubber with a basic insole, just like all the non-lined boots, absolutely boggles my mind. After what I paid, these boots had better last forever.

Ordered on line and they came and were to big, went to the ll Bean store in king of Prussia and they didn't have the size there so had to return, rebuy on another on line order, these were a Christmas gift and very expensive and when my wife opened the box on Christmas Day, there was no shoelaces. Very embarrassing. Thank you

When I first got these two years ago I liked them, but after having them for two winters I don't care for them. The foot isn't warm enough, it's so small they can't put enough insulation in there, the rubber boot makes my feet cold, the top of the foot is cut too low and keeps me from being able to wear a second sock. I got the wide so I could have extra room but it's pretty snug. Doesn't feel like a wide in the foot but my heel slides up and down. I had to get long bootlaces to tie all the way around the ankle to keep the boot from sliding. If I wear them for much walking it hurts my little toes. The soles are slippery on most surfaces. After two years I truly hate these boots.

Literally smell horrible, I have had these for a year. I love the boots. However, when I got them I noticed a smell, like the sheep they sheared rolled in a skunk or something but they stink. They have never been wet on the inside of the boot or anything and never been left outside (although I wanted to leave them out due to smell). I bought them then I got pregnant with my son so I just have not had time to truly write this up and also just started wearing them again since summer. The smell was there but it seems to get stronger and stronger. Anyone else have this problem? I want to get another pair but they are expensive to just buy...

Purchased my first pair of LL Bean boots and was super excited to try them. Am I missing something, but my $225 boots did not come with boot laces or a shoe box. Not sure what to do....

I usually am a size 6.5 or 7 shoe, so I ordered a size 6 Medium B and a size 7 Medium B to try both sizes. I found that both sizes were extremely narrow, which I did not like, so I exchanged them both for a size 6 Wide D and a size 7 Wide D. The Wide D felt more like a regular as opposed to a wide, which is what I wanted. However, the length of the size 6 was way too short. My toes were curling over the foot insole inside. And the length of the size 7 was too long and my foot would not stay in contact with the insole when I lifted my foot up. I really wish there were half sizes because the difference between a size 6 and 7 in these shoes is huge. If you have my size foot, I do not recommend these shoes because they will not fit you correctly. Another thing I did not like about this shoe is that the material inside the shoe ranges. It is shearling inside the leather portion, and flannel inside the rubber portion. This was a problem for me because the stitching from where these two materials meet rubbed against my ankle. I really wish these shoes were designed a bit differently, because I loved the way they look!

they are well made and stylish. As far as warmth and that's why I got them . I rated them a 2 star. I thought they would be extremely warm but they are NOT. We got down to 30 degrees and my feet were ice cold . It's not even winter yet. I could have spent the money better on a different pair of boots. Very disappointed.

LL Bean has always been my go to store for all of my cold weather clothing needs and I have never been disappointed, until this purchase. I had my eye on these boots for a while. Tried them on in store in my usual size 11 with mid weight socks and they fit great. I left empty handed that day, but couldn't get the boots off my mind. When I received a discount code via email I knew I had to finally get them. I ordered the size 11, which I had tried on in the store, and was recommended according to the sizing instructions. On the first cold day I finally pulled the boots on to wear them and without thinking twice went out the door with them to run some errands. While out I realized the boots didn't fit the way I remembered... they felt huge, and as someone who wears a true size 11, that isn't something I ever experience. I started to think maybe they sent me a men's size 11 by mistake? I know I probably should have tried them on inside before wearing them out, but I'm a mom of 2 under 2 and just didn't have time to do that (other moms out there will surely understand), plus I was sure I could count on LL Bean's consistency. In the end I am stuck with a pair of very expensive boots that are too big and am very disappointed. Others ordering online please beware of inconsistent sizing.

Honestly, I fell for the hype. I want to like these boots because in theory they seem perfect for winter. Unfortunately they fall short of providing the basic aspect of a winter boot: warmth. Even though the whole boot is lined, the rubber toe part gets VERY cold. My toes have gone numb in these boots more than once. I literally had to put hand warmers in my socks. It's frustrating that I can wear two pair of fleece socks with these boots and STILL be freezing after an hour or two outside. They also have TERRIBLE traction. I've slipped so many times I don't even know why I bother wearing them anymore. Unless you're walking on fresh, fluffy snow, you're better off attempting to ice skate your way down the side walk because you'll be slipping all over the place anyway. The boots run large all over. They're clunky and make my thin legs look ridiculous. They're also relatively heavy, so walking up stairs/escalators is weirdly tiring. The strings don't stay tied and they're so stiff they just stick out in every direction unless you tuck them. Overall, I'm quite dissatisfied with the quality of these boots. I think the life time warranty is nice, but these boots have failed to convince me of the supposedly amazing quality LL Bean is known for. I'd rather sell them and make back some of my money than be given a gift card I can only use at LL Bean on another pair of disappointing boots.

I ordered this back in 2015 around fall time. Didn't get it until June or July of the following year due to backorder. The upside was they sent me a cute mini keychain of the boot for the long wait. lol! Now for the downside, the lining. For such an expensive pair of boots you would think the lining would be made better. Maybe it's just mine but I read other reviews and they had the same issue. Are these boots meant to be sewn that way? If so, I think it needs to be redesigned because the inside seem around the ankle doesn't seem right, like it's not complete. I felt like I needed to order an additional lining insert for them because it would just cut up my ankles. You would definitely need to wear really thick socks with these boots. I still haven't worn mine yet because the inside seam just annoy me and I kind of forgot I had them because I received them in June! lol! In any event, if you aren't OCD like me and have thick socks to wear with these boots then I guess they are ok. I just wished the entire boot was lined in Shearling rather than just the upper half. My feet get cold very easily and it would make more sense if the entire boot was lined with the Shearling.

I ordered these boots in mid-November hoping to have them in early December. I purchased during the 25% off sale. When I received them they were ATLEAST 2 sizes too big. I returned them the next day, only to find they were backordered until JANUARY. Ended up having to order a different shoe than the one I had been waiting for, at full price. To make matters worse, they couldn't guarantee that I would get my other pair refunded. Been wanting a pair for years but unfortunately I won't be buying from L.L. Bean ever again. Sad because the boot was beautiful.

I have been wanting these boots for two years now. I have a pair of shearling-lined slippers that I have had for years and absolutely love, so when I saw that these boots were lined with the same material, I knew I had to have them. I received them yesterday and felt like a kid at Christmas until I realized that the entire boot is not lined, only the top. I put them on anyway, hoping that I would still love them, but was disappointed even more. The soles are tough and uncomfortable, and the boot is too big. I am a size 9 and ordered such thinking I could wear a light-medium sock. They are at least a size too big. I am super bummed as I love the look of the worn leather. I just feel that if I am paying over 200.00 dollars, they should be lined all the way. As much as I want to keep them, they will be going back.

I bought my Bean boots in October after reading reviews and knowing they are the "it" winter boots in Boston. The boots were backordered so I was lucky to get them in time for the snow. But, after wearing them through a few snow days, I am unsatisfied. These boots are not warm. The shearling on the boots is only on the shaft, not in the shoe part itself. I have worn these boots with regular socks, wool socks, and multiple pairs of socks and they're still not warm. The innersole of the boot started to shift within a week of wearing them as well. In order to keep my feet from freezing, I tried the shearling innersoles but those didn't work with the fit of the boot and I got blisters. Now I use foot warmers daily to keep my feet from freezing inside of these boots. The shearling does little to keep my feet warm. Although my ankles sure are toasty, I bought these boots for my feet, not my ankles. The stitching on the boots was shotty as well, but I wasn't going to return them while on backorder, as the winter doesn't wait for retail supply. Lose strings, uneven stitching, lifting innersole, and cold feet - not what I expected for the price.

Too uncomfortable to wear. Footbed is irregularly shaped, lumpy, and has absolutely no padding. Terrible even with two pairs of thick socks. How does anyone wear these things?

The boot was nice but I liked the style of a different brand. When I ordered these on line, the "small print" said if it was returned to a store, which is the most convenient option for me, that I would only be issued a store credit. So I went through the hassle of returning it by UPS and then a month later I receive a store credit in the mail. I was so annoyed. I had to spent countless time on the phone trying to get my money back. Still don't have my money back !!!

The shearling is only around the ankle and the seam where it meets to boot digs into the back of your Achilles' tendon. Very uncomfortable.

Had to return because I went by their sizing recommendations. Wear 6 1/2 shoes so ordered size 6. Too small, hoping 7 works out since I have to wait two months to get the replacements.

Once the lining in these boots get wet, they smell. I called customer service and they are aware of the problem. They suggested baking soda in a sock. Didn't work! For the price, if there is a known problem, I would think LL Bean would correct. I have owned a pair of the unlined boots and had no problem so if you like them, avoid the lined and get the unlined.

I bought these, and the inside seams on BOTH boots are SUPER uncomfortable. They stick way out, and rub on the inner and outer sides of my ankles. I contacted customer service, and after they transferred me TWICE, the representative told me I had the wrong size and that was what was causing the issue on the toe and heel. EXCEPT I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE TOE OR HEEL. They fit fine, the SEAM rubs wrong. And in their stock photos, they conveniently cropped the top view of the boot-I'm guessing so that you can't see how far the seam sticks out. I am uploading photos I took so you can see the seams-I asked the representative if I should/could send them photos, and they told me none were necessary. Clearly they are not interested in fixing a quality issue and/or keeping customers. For $230, I expected superior quality. I will be taking my money, and my feet, elsewhere.

Was really excited to get these boots. The left boots fits great. The right boot it just too hard to get on because the tongue doesn't line up. The stitching on this boot also doesn't line up and makes an extra row down to the middle of the boot. The shearling lining is shedding. I have owned bean boots before and loved the quality which sadly seems to have declined. These will be going back.
