First I have to say these boots are extremely comfortable, super soft and very well made. I really wanted to keep these boots because they felt so luxurious. However when I bought them I was looking for a shoe that could be both a rain boot and a snow boot, and these are best for snow only. I talked to a representative and they told me that the tumbled leather on the top is NOT waterproof. They did not recommend wearing these in the heavy rain or deep snow. So I decided to go with the Gortex lined boot that has waterproof leather on top.
I haven't worn them out in the weather, so they might be fine, but I didn't want to have to worry about it every time it rained.
These shoes are really great, but I would have liked to know before ordering that the leather wasn't prepared for the rain.
Also shout out to the amazing LLbean customer service who helped me figure out which boot I wanted. They are great!

The boots are very pretty and perfect, but they run way too big and I had to send them back. Tried to order a different size and they are on back order until March. Decided not to reorder. Wish they had fit better.

First off I love the look and feel of these boots. They are high quality. And I LOVE LL Bean. That is the good, the bad is that the leather for the upper portion of the boot is not waterproof and cannot be waterproofed without ruining the leather. I got this from Bean representatives themselves. I was VERY disappointed to see this. Why have a winter boot that isn't waterproof? In my neck of the woods these are just about useless for anything up over the rubber bottom portion as I don't want to end up with water stains on the leather. So I just wanted to warn people about this as I found out after having worn them already. I most certainly would have brought them back.

This is a fine boot.
However, it isn't going to keep your toes warm if you spend much time outside in a Canadian winter (despite the best guess of the sales rep I asked before purchasing this boot). Half an hour in -12C weather and my toes are absolutely, painfully frozen, and I'm in southern Ontario. It's fine for running errands around town but after four years I don't use it for much else. Not a flaw in the boot just not built for the weather I have, even with my warmest socks and a shearling footbed I added. I like them but I wouldn't recommend them.
Pros:
-Very well made
-Waterproof
-Extremely comfortable
-Great fit
Cons:
-Not warm
-Snow gets all over the backs of your calves if you live where snow is deeper than 8"
-Takes a long time to put on and take off compared to other winter footwear

Nice boots. They run very large. I'm a guy and I wear size 8 men.. I had to get these in size 7W (wide) in women. The boot itself is great. The insoles run too small... I had to return the first pair and buy it again but the problem was still there. I had to purchase Dr Scholls and cut them to size 8 which fit perfect. Also the boot doesn't provide for great cushioning. I'm hoping that dr Scholls fix that problem too.

As someone who lives in New England, I have been contemplating buying these boots for a few years. The design is classic and a winter staple.I finally decided to do it this year. I waited for them on backorder and was so excited to see they had finally shipped!
But unfortunately they were not at all what I expected from LL Bean. I paid an extra $100 for the shearling because I wanted a boot to keep my toes warm. This "shearling lined boot" has no shearling lining along the foot and toes (where I need it). For a company known for their quality, I was surprised they would do this to their customers.

I was bummed when I recieved these and realized they are not "shearling lined" like Ugg boots or even all of the other LLBean slippers and other items (many of which I own) labled "shearling lined". These are in fact, SHEARLING AT THE ANKLE boots---the entire foot is lined in fabric, but it sure isn't shearling. I came back and ordered the shearling liners, but still, the whole foot is unlined, so I removed them and put them in a pair of worn out Uggs. I was hoping to wear these without socks, but that is not possible, as the seam area where the shearling meets the liner is scratchy on the bare foot (though is not noticable with a sock.). I am keeping them because the broken in leather is worth it, but am wearing my Ugg boots way more than these, when I had hoped these would replace them. I just wear the Bean Boots when it is too wet for Uggs. Bummer.

I really like the look of these, but the wool lining inside them does not come down into the foot. So the foot is not insulated. You can buy the shearling insoles for an extra 25$, but that still leaves most of the foot un-insulated. Shortly after stepping out into the snow, my feet got very cold. Other than that, they are well made. So, if you are looking for a rainboot, or if winters do not get very cold where you live, then these may be right for you.

This is my second pair of shearling lined bean boots. My first pair is the Shearling Lined Signature Tumbled-Leather L.L.Bean Boots, 16" and the lining is throughout the entire boot. These 8" boots only have the shearling lining on the shaft of the boot, not in the foot bed. For the price and description of these boots, I was really disappointed to not find the lining throughout. The transition from the shearling lining to the cloth lined footbed is at a significant seam right around mid heel. Not impressed that I need to worry about blisters in what should be a ridiculously comfortable boot, or that my foot would really benefit from the warmth in an assumed fully lined boot.

I really wanted to like these boots. I ordered my normal size 8 W. The shoes came quickly. Unfortunately they were WAY too big and WAY too wide. I would like to re-order a regular (not W) size 7 but they are on back order until Feb 2015. I need them now. I wish they made them in more colors too.

I went to Bean's with my heart set on purchasing the 10in shearling lined bean boots, and I was heartbroken to find out they were out until March. The 8in shearling lined Bean boots were recommended to me by an employee. At first I was skeptical, but since I needed some warm winter boots, I conceded.
To my surprise, I fell completely in love. As mentioned in previous reviews, going down a size (sometimes 2!) is the best way to go. I wear them with both regular sport socks and thicker wool socks. I wear mine a bit loose, so I can slip them on and off in a jiff.
I love them so much that I haven't worn any other shoes since I purchased them!

I purchased my L.L. Bean boots back in 2017 specifically for the brutal Buffalo, NY winters. They were a lifesaver at the time, keeping my feet warm and dry through snow and slush. Shortly after, I moved to Denver in the spring of 2018, where winters were milder, so I didn't rely on them as much. Fashion combat boots were sufficient for most days, though the Bean boots still saw occasional use.
Fast forward six years, and I'm back in Buffalo braving harsh winters again. I was excited to pull out my trusty L.L. Bean boots, but I've been pretty disappointed. Even with thick wool socks, my toes are constantly cold, and I'm freezing more than I ever remember. For a product that's supposed to be known for durability and warmth, they just haven't held up the way I expectedespecially after reading so many glowing reviews.
Unfortunately, I bought mine before the lifetime warranty policy was changed, so exchanging them isn't an option. While I was once a fan, I wouldn't recommend these boots for those who need serious, long-term warmth in extreme weather.

Inside of the boot is not lined with shearling as advertised, it's only on visible top part of the boot and is different from bean boots I bought before, insole is a foam. Will return, price does not match the quality

I have had these a couple of years now. I don't wear them often. I live in NE PA so winters are fairly cold 20's and 30's mostly. I put them on this morning to take the dogs out in the snow. Within 15 minutes my feet were cold. I've had them on for about 4 hours and my feet feel wet, maybe from sweating, but again, my feet were cold after 15 minutes standing on the snow. Just not what I expected for $250. Very disappointed, I should have returned them. I will wear them shopping when it's sloppy out, but certainly not for spending any amount of time outside. I also added an insole because they were not real comfy either. For the price, I just can't recommend them for what they are marketed as.

The boots fit by length and width. However the way my foot sat in the shoe was totally odd and uncomfortable. Unwearable, So unfortunate - I really want to wear these boots.

Sizing up a whole sizes doesn't work. Super disappointed half sizes are no longer available. These boots in the wide option, half size were the perfect now. I tried to size up and down with no luck. The fit was too small or way to big.

I have wanted to try LL Bean Boots for years and years. I finally ordered a pair of the Women's 8" Shearling-Lined PrimaLoft Bean Boots, and was dismayed that the fit was so wretched. They were the right length and width, but my foot felt horrible in the boot. Now I've finally scratched that itch, and unfortunately back it goes to LL Bean.

I wanted them to be my favorite pair of boots ever. But I honestly didn't see fireworks when I first tried them on. The footbed/insole feels different in each shoe and seems to give support in the wrong spots.
I only had the chance to wear them twice for an hour or two before the weather got too warm, but based on how my feet felt in them for the 1-2 hour periods I did, they're not going to be comfy to wear for long periods (like hiking through the snow or even just walking around town).
I followed the size guide and they are not lying when they say to size down. I probably could have gone down two sizes instead of just the one.
They're made beautifully and are absolutely toasty - like, can't wear them inside toasty. Which is hard to find I feel like.
I wish they could be my go-to, all winter boots but I'll probably try to give them away to a friend and hope they can enjoy them more than I'll be able to.
I really wish I loved them more but the comfort level is not there for the price and the hype.

Shearling lining only in the ankle made the boot itself very cold indeed, and the seam of the waterproof area was uncomfortable. I returned them.

Make sure you are aware of the 1 year warranty - I asked for these for Christmas 2020 when we lived in Kentucky knowing full well we would be moving to Michigan. Well guess what.... I did not start wearing them until right around my 1 year purchase time. Now, the rubber right under the seam is coming unglued and not much I can do.... I actually wore these boots for the very first time to the UofM Indiana game (which was not that cold) and my feet froze. We just got almost 2 feet of snow where I live in Michigan and I will take my other boots any day of the week and use these to go back and forth to the mailbox because that's about all they are good for

These boots are cozy if you plan to be in the car or inside, but if you are outside in 10 degree weather, the cold goes right through the bottom of the boot and freezes your foot. I was only outside for a few minutes at a time looking at new cars and my feet froze! I'm a big Bean fan, but these boots are not for actual cold weather. My husband has the same problem with his lined Bean boots as well.

The interior seam between the top and bottom of boot protrudes and is sharp. The shearling lining stops too soon and does not cover this seam, leaving it to irritate skin. Very disappointed but must return. First negative experience with LL Bean products.
