I spend alot of time hiking trails and mountains. Loved that I didn't have to break these boots in and thankful for how water proof they are! Only thing toe box seemed a little narrow but not too bad that I would have to return them. These are my 2nd pair of Hoka hiking boots and they're worth every penny!!! They definitely last a long time and work well in winter too.

This is my 4th pair of Hoka shoes - my second pair of trail shoes. I'm heading to Ireland to walk the Dingle Way and with the weather in Ireland, well, being Ireland, I decided I needed some waterproof hiking shoes. I worn them for the FIRST time and hiked 9 miles - had NO problems! No blisters! I even walked through some creeks to test their waterproofing! They are light weight which makes them perfect for traveling and hiking! I have long narrow feet so Hokas are perfect for me!

These shoes are true to all things Hoka. They are extremely comfortable and the support is just what I needed. And, of course, they look great too!

These HOKA hiking boots were so easy to break in. I had no issues after hiking for 2 hours on rough terrain. As a matter of fact, I recommended them to a friend and she bought a pair immediately!!

I have really enjoyed these shoes. They are comfortable and provide good ankle support. The tread is great for all kinds of surfaces.

BEST shoes i've ever owned. i had to use my inserts just cause of how my feet are, but seriously these shoes are the best things ever. i even went tubing in themthey are so comfortable and i would genuinely wear these every day for the rest of my life lol. i originally bought the anacapa's but immediately returned them once i put these shoes on. the ONE thing i wish these GTX shoes had is WIDE SIZES!!!!! these are definitely more comfortable than the other gtx shoes though. overall, very nice!! and i LOVED the color in person

Love the color. It's absolutely beautiful!! And when I first put it on it fit like a glove like the other couple of pairs of Hokas I have. This is my first pair of hiking boots through Hoka though and I wanted to try them out after looking at the reviews and the bottom tread.
I didn't try them hiking in any certain terrain yet. However, I did walk in them an entire day to go shopping in them to see how they would fare out on concrete floors and about 5 hours in they started to rub on upper top on each outer boot. Everything else was great but ankles/lower legs tend to be a little important when you're walking up the mountains with gear on, no less. I'm going to try again

I got these shoes as a beginner hiking boot in preparation for a short but high energy hiking trip in Utah. We hiked in canyons, in waterfalls, and through some forestry and the shoes were great in most aspects. The shoes are not only cute and stylish but very functional. They were supportive in the ankles, and maybe a bit too supportive in the arches for me. Occasionally the higher arches of the shoes would begin to hurt my feet after a long trail but they held up well. They are easy to clean and lightweight to carry or pack. The soles and grip are great in many different kinds of terrains including sand, dirt/sticks, rocks (wet and dry), gravel, and concrete/paved paths. The only thing I would say is that they are not super effective when submerged in water. I took these on a hike in a waterfall, and as soon as the water reached the level of the tongue and laces on the top, the shoes were wet inside and sloshed around a bit. Despite holding water when submerged fully, they were still comfortable throughout the rest of the hike. They did not drain well after being in water until I had taken them off to dry. Thankfully, they were easy to clean and easy to dry. I sized up half a size in these and they fit well with heavy hiking socks. They were maybe a little bit narrow in the toes area after a long hike but not uncomfortable. I would recommend these for beginners but more experienced hikers may prefer something with a bit more structure/support and water resiliency.

Very comfortable and seem to be holding up well even on longer mileage hikes (10+ miles)

I purchased these because I was concerned the 9’s were too small and didn’t think they came in 9.5. There is a big difference between 9 & 10. Felt way too big wearing them. I still like the 9, however, but had to put another arch support in them. I like the weight of the shoe for hiking though and I’m glad they are waterproof. We will soon find out how much that proves to be true when we have to hike in all types of weather.

They were comfortable from the start with exception of a lack of arch support. I ordered inserts and that definitely helped. However, I have noticed that I have developed a little bit of a callus on the end of my second toe. It seems to be rubbing in the toe box. I usually wear a 8.5 and ordered a 9 for space in the toe box while hiking inclines. I’m gonna have to send these back and get a size larger and hope that helps. I’m only two and a half weeks from a major hike that I need these for. I’ve hiked/walked probably 50 miles already in these and hate that I have just noticed this. Wish they had these in 9.5.

First of all, let me state that Hoka does their female customers who wear wides in their tennis shoes, a disservice by hardly offering any options but one, in a hiking shoe or boot. And Zappos doesn't offer any of the limited wide options in hiking boots/shoes by Hoka. Shame on that too. I wear wides in Hoka for the toe box instep area. They are much more comfortable than regular width on my foot, although I do not wear wides in regular shoes. I opted to try 4 different pairs of regular width Hoka hiking boots/shoes hoping they may have more width room than the Hoka Cliftons I buy regularly. Nope. They fit but definitely squeeze my instep-mid foot especially with a good pair of thicker socks. Unfortunately, this and three others are all going back. I have to turn to Hoka website itself and pick from one measly option in a color I really don't even care for.

I bought Anacapa 2 Mid GTX and the Mid Breeze version as well as Trail Code GTX . Love the colors of all three. The trail code did not have any toe protection whatsoever, so they were out of the race, and didn't really test them out.

I tested out 4 other pairs of water proof, ankle height hiking boots before settling on keeping these HOKA's. I have some mild plantar fasciitis so comfort in the heel and foot bed were top priority for me.
These had zero necessary break in period and were as comfortable as sneakers from the first wear. They're not as smoochy, cloud foam as some other sneakers, but they are comfortable. I also added in my own insoles with better arch support after the first 12 miles.
These did prove to be water proof. I wore them for a 4 day thru hike in the ADK's and had dry feet the entire time.
The only complaint/improvement that could be made is that the laces don't stay tied and don't stay tight. Other hiking boots do a better job with the laces locking in around the ankles.
Overall very happy with my buy especially with getting them on sale!

I normally wear a size 8.5 in Hoka Arahi. I am an overpronator with a narrow heel and foot. I also have flat feet. The size 8.5 was just too wide in every regard, heel slippage, foot sliding side to side in the shoe. Had to cinch the laces so much that the fabric folded a bit. Also my knee hurt walking around the house. Wanted a more rugged trail show but sadly these are going back.

Hi all! I came to this site looking to buy my first pair of hoka's. And I did. I got these high top hikers in my normal size 10. That part of the fit was fine, but what wasn't were the 2 hooks to tie the top of the hiker. Instead of a round string hole they put 2 hooks to criss cross and tie up the rest of the shoe. I could definitely feel the metal of those 2 hooks digging into my ankle bone when I first tried them on. There would be no trial period cuz there would be instant blisters. No doubt. So not sure if others have experienced this as well. But I had to return for bad design. But I will try the normal shoe cuz I hear they're amazing. So haven't given up yet.

Bought a 9 on advice from others, especially with a wide foot. Wasn’t sure so purchased the 81/2, my true size. After many laps around the house I decided on the 9. While I love all my other Hokas, I’ve had trouble even liking these. Comfortable and light, good for a few miles ( that’s all I have hikes in them) but… the tread is so crisscrossed with tiny compartments and mud gets stuck and difficult to clean. Also, the outside material looks like cheap plastic and smears mud when I used the boot scrubber. An extra chore spraying them down. I will continue to alternate with my other waterproof boots but I don’t see these boots lasting much more than a season. However, that being said, I will not give up on Hokas and my never ending search for the perfect boots.

The heel sticks out so much that I catch it on chairs and stools when I stand and tip them over. Otherwise great shoe.
