I'm a longtime fan of the Arahi's and decided to try these for more cushion and I loved the gray color with the orange and pink sole. Unfortunately these gave me horrible arch pain and foot pain as well as some knee pain. I tried them out for 7 runs and my feet/legs couldn't adjust. I really wished they would have worked out. I absolutely loved the colors. A huge kudos to Hoka's trial period and easy exchange process.

Have Gaviota 3 in size 7 wide. Purchased Gaviota 4 in 7 wide. Not the same , Gaviota 4 shorter and narrower. Compared insoles and sizing changed with the redesign. Ordered Gaviota 4 in 7.5 wide directly from hoka and they were too big. Returned both sizes and switched to Brooks glycerin gts which are so comfortable I bought in two colors. Gaviotas were pretty and stylish though .

Just got these in and there are two stains on the laces on the right shoe pretty annoying considering the price. Also not super impressed with the insole.

The shoe is comfortable but squeaky. The squeak is too loud to we're is public without a bit of embarrassment.

I wanted to love this shoe, but unfortunately the wide width was not wide enough for me. {bunion}

I bought a size 10 wide but they did not feel like a wide sneaker to me. They fit like a regular width for me. One sneaker also felt a little different on the inside-not enough cushion or something can feel the support from the inside . They felt a bit "hard" and just not enough cushion.

I am sure this shoe is great, but I need something more supportive. This shoe feels flat and firm. I need something similar to the Bondi 7. I guess i should have stayed with that one. I just wanted to try something new in your line. The Gaviota 4, is a great shoe. Unfortunately, not for me.

I like that they're super comfortable but they started falling apart after 2 weeks. They should be more durable for the price

I ordered my size, which is W size 11 in women's. However, these shoes felt tight, and I didn't have much toe room at all , so I returned for a size 12, and then it was too big. I'm sure I would need an 11.5 in women's, but they don't come in half sizes. However, the shoes felt good on the foot , but room wise, it didn't work out.

This is the second pair I gave change! The first one was clifton! I have very regular feet, no pain whatsoever, the shoes are beautiful light, and very cushioned, but in this pair as in clifton my heel gets huge and painful blisters on the inner side on my heels! I can't walk after it for days! I tried regular one and wide! Not for me! The Clifton I was wearing for 2 month because someone told me I need to break them in... why in a world I need to break in such expansive shoe!

For me it was too wide. I have narrow feet, and my doctor told me to buy hokas. I had to find, by hit or miss, if any of them fit. This one is good for pronation which I need, but felt too stiff for my tender feet. It also was much too wide, like a medium than ran wide.
I'd also recommend:

I like the padding and stability, but the sizing was different than the size I usually get. I should have purchased a half size larger. I can only wear it for a short period of time to be comfortable. I've purchased many HOKAS in the past and they were very comfortable. Clifton 8 are the most comfortable for me and true to size.

This shoe was surprisingly uncomfortable. It felt tight and it hurt the soles of my feet. It’s a very good looking shoe other than that.

Great look and cushion; classic HOKA quality; but the front of shoe seemed tight and depressed my toenails unlike the Bondi or Clifton. I did not want to add a size just to have greater depth at front of shoe.

I have several life long issues with both of my feet and it seems the Hoka One One brand works for me. I have been a Hoka Bondi girl for several years now and thought I would try the Gaviota 4 in a wide. The reviews are great! The stability of these are great but my feet went numb within the first 30 min. They are a great shoe but do not work for my issues and returned them with no problem. Hoka Bondi all the way for me!

I have owned 2 pairs of Gaviota 2s before. My previous pairs provided great stability and a cushioned sole. This pair fell short. They had a roomy toe box, and the stability was there but they did not have much cushion in the sole. My right shoe was fairly comfortable but the left was very painful in the arch. I presumed it had to be defective, so they had to go back. I also tried Arahi, which had zero cushion. I ended up with Bondi 7s, which did provide the cushion and comfort I expect from Hokas.

The shoelaces have changed. They feel like there is more nylon. They will not stay tied. I have been wearing the Gaviota shoes for at least 2-3 years. I have to use a surgeon's knot to keep them tied. I have never had to use a surgeon's knot on a pair of shoes.

These shoes aren't a bad shoe. If i didn't have collapsing arches I'd give them a 4. They were recommended by the shoe finder thing for being on your feet all day. If you work on concrete all day I would not buy these. I'd go with the Bondi 8 instead. My feet hurt so bad everyday. I've only had these shoes over a week and the pain has only gotten worse. These shoes are not good for a long work day.

The Gaviota 4, I'm sure, would be great for some people but for me they hurt my back and hips. My first pair of Hokas was Gaviota 2. I really liked them. After that I got Bondi 6 and loved them. This time round, I thought I'd try the new Gaviota 4 because it said it was plush and stable. When I first put them on, I realized I loved the stability (I sometimes have balance problems) and could feel there was a lot more structure in them than the Bondis. But after wearing them for 1 day for a few hours, then skipped 2 days and wearing them another longer day, I was in a lot of pain at the end of the each day. I then ordered the new Bondi 8 and found them a little more structured than the first Bondis I had. This ended up being perfect for me - more stability but still neutral and plush. I had also tried the suede Bondi GTX that is All Gender. Beautiful shoes but unfortunately too wide for me, no matter how I tied them. Hoka sizes the All Gender shoes so it is wider than their women's regular and narrower than their men's. My foot isn't quite narrow enough to get narrow shoes but a little narrower than normal, although with the tieing normal width women's in the right way works for me. I would recommend Gaviota 4 to people who are good with this type of structure.
