This is the third pair of Speedgoat 5 that I have purchased. The first two fit great. This most recent one, the arch hits all the way behind the arch. I am leaving in 2 weeks to hike the Grand Canyon. I might have to use my worm out shoes because I am concerned these are going to hurt my foot b

I have bought many, many pairs of Hoka shoes. Generally - in the past - I would say that Hokas are great but they burn out fast. This shoe takes that to an extreme and I would unfortunately not recommend it. The upper separated from the lower after only about 100 miles (2 long runs). I sent them back to Hoka and they said that the shoe was more than a year old (not true - I purchased them in March'23, and I don't even think this product was available a year ago). They also said that they don't cover normal wear and tear. If separation of the upper from the lower is "normal wear and tear" I guess I need a new shoe company. If anyone from Hoka wants to respond I would be happy to connect.

As a big time runnner and Hoka fan, disappointed in these. While comfortable and great feeling on runs, they are simply poor quality and not at all durable. Both the left and right foot of mine ripped after four months and almost zero mileage - I was simply using them for work, which is does not strain the shoe at all. Sadly I'll stay away from Hoka trail and hiking shoes based on this experience.

I love Hokas & have convinced my family & friends to buy them. But the speedgoat 5 really disappointed me. Within 1.5 months of use, the rubber tread is completely coming off. Wouldn't recommend buying.

I purchases a pair of Speedgoats in June and in less than 2 months of sporadic use (not daily), the Vibram sole pulled loose in the middle of one show. Approximately 110 miles of hiking on soft and hard surfaces. This is very poor performance in my opinion which is really a shame as I like the shoes overall.

I purchased the Speedgoat 5 in "wide 2E".... well, I received them and tried them on... they fit like a D size... the arch in my feet were practically arching in the wrong direction, lol. If you are use to the HOKA wide in other choices that work, the SPEEDGOAT 5 wide size is in no way wide... they actually hurt your feet.

Shoe is not a true wide!! Have the bondi 8's in a wide and my feet feel great in them. Toes feel like they're being pushed together in these.
Not sure why these companies can't just make shoes that are shaped like feet???
If Hoka made this exact shoe (without the weird heel flare out that is a magnet for dirt) with an actual foot shaped toe box, zero drop, and a piece on the back to Velcro gaiters to, I would never consider altra again.

Shoes are super comfortable however beware they do NOT hold up to dirt roads/rocks. Shoe had a hole from a rock on first wear. These are NOT trail shoes!

They are comfortable. But man, are they cheaply made. I would not wear them outside to run or hike in. Or wear them on anythingother then carpet. The soles seem like the first rock they come across will tear them to shreds. I do not see them lasting more then a month or 2 of doing what they were made for. Sucks as they are double the price of what I normally wear. I would return them but needed to try them out to see if they would work for me. For the price that Hoka charges you are better off going with other name brand stuff that will last you many many years.

Love the way the shoes feel on my feet, however after owning them for 30 days and a handful of trail runs they have already developed a hole on the side of the upper. I cant justify spending a premium price on a pair of shoes that has a limited lifespan. Buyer beware.

The shoes I purchased are sized as a EE width.
The shoe's toe box is not anatomically shaped to properly fit a wide foot. They squeezed my toes so badly I could not keep them on my feet. They are also not as well padded as they previously were.

Ran 40 miles in my new pit and they are falling apart at the heal. I have a 250 miler in a week or I'd throw my hokas out and switch to something that can accommodate actual rugged trail miles

Looks good, feels good when just walking in them, but elastic mesh that's attached to the tongue starts rubbing on arch just after a few minutes of running, very disappointing because I was really excited about this shoe in particular

The old speed goat was amazingly stable and felt like my foot was deep in the sole of the shoe. The new speed goat 5 has lighter, but lower quality foam and makes it feel more like I am on top of the shoe and more likely to role an ankle.

Comfy shoe, but Vibram sole worn out after 50 miles of gentle walking in first month. Shoe looks new otherwise.

Love the shoe, but can't endorse buying it when the sole wears out after 30 days/50 miles of gentle walking. Regardless of how comfortable the shoe is, can't say it is functionally useful when the tread is totally gone after 50 miles of walking.

I've been a Hoka fan since around 2019 and my first pairs were the Speedgoat 3, which were amazing and soft and great for trail running and basically anything. I still have 2 pairs of the Speedgoat 3's and they're more comfortable than these by far and they've lasted much longer. Not what happened to the Speedgoat but the new versions have been increasingly disappointing. Also, the sizing got switched around so they're much bigger than before.

I have only worn the shoe 8-10 times since my January 10, 2023 arrival. I have a rotation of shoes. The heels have already started wearing down. I did not have this problem with speedgoat 4. I have contacted Hoka directly. I buy Hoka and love them. I will still buy from zappos
