I was excited about getting these. When I took them out of the box I could tell they were more narrow than the other styles. I had them on for 15 in my hour and my right root began to hurt because of them being to narrow.

I am now wearing my new Speedgoat 5s and loving them except, unlike my previous Speedgoats 3 & 4 it does not have a heel loop, I did not notice this when I ordered my 5s, and I miss that feature. The shoes could not be better, great fit comfortable and awesome traction. I will wear them and love them even though every tine I pull them on I will miss the heel loop. Please bring it back on the 6!

Bought the 12.5 wide. Super narrow toe box. Can't imagine anyone's foot shaped like that. The heel is also to wide.

I had 8 pairs of the Speedgoat 4 and loved it and finally moved away from Altra but, the speedgoat 5 is not the same shoe and a terrible update. The grip is the only good update. The tongue is way too short and useless, where the tongue on the 4 was an excellent feature. The midsole is just not comfy, feels stiff and cheap. not as roomy as the 4. very disappointing considering this is the ONLY trail model hoka makes in my size, 15 wide. PLEASE fix these quality issues Hoka.

I use the GOAT 5 3 times per week walking and slow jogging on desert mountain trails in Arizona. On a positive note, the shoes are extremely comfortable and have reduced my knee pain. However within 3 months the shoe fabric at the bottom started to tear. Its totally ripped on both shoes in 6 months. I would not recommend this shoe for hiking trails.

Sadly the heel rubbing caused a hole and shoe was only 6 months old with moderate wear ?

Product was bad. No room in the toes. The Speedgoat 4 GTX was so much better and fit. Very disappointed

These have an extremely narrow toe box and moving up to a wide did not solve the issue. Initially I thought the wide would give the same comfort as Altra but be more responsive, I was wrong on both accounts. I found my Altra Olympus 4 to be more responsive and comfortable. I am sure this is a great shoe if you are a Hoka fan but coming from Altra I was very disappointed.

I have bought many Hoka shoes directly from the website, but this time I wanted to try a different style. I really liked them, even better than the other model because these shoes were super comfortable but they started ripping on the side after just few runs. Since this happened within the return period, I sent them back. Now after more than 1 months, I still get no credit from Hoka. CS representatives are nice but they are not helpful and keep telling me different things. I am so frustrated and disappointed with the company. CS team has no effect on the returns department. Obviously, Hoka does not stand behind their product.

It's a Christmas gift for my grandsons so I don't really know anything about how satisfied he would be at this time. Thank you.

I've been purchasing Hoka trail running shoes for years and have come to expect a level of durability these shoes don't live up to. After relatively minor use (weekend hikes for 4 months) the tread has separated from the sole, worn way too fast, and the material hasn't held up to minor scuffing and abrasions. These are the last Hoka's I'll be purchasing.

Hoka should include a tube of gorilla glue with every shoe sold. Gluing back on the soul of my 45 day old speed goat 5. This is the third straight shoe, including a pair of ancapa (which were warrantied) that I had to glue the treads back on.
It's a real shame because I've been running in hokas for the past 6 years, including multiple Ironmans and multiple bucket list Trail races. The fact that I have to glue their shoes back together yet I still keep buying them should be shameful for Hoka.

I read rave reviews about the speed goat line and bought a pair of the 5s on sale once the 6 came out. I put less than 20miles on them and the tread came loose and glue failed. Customer service is 5***** and replacements were in my house in less than a week. I'm giving this another chance since I'm assuming it was old glue since it was an old model but it was still a disappointing experience. Hopefully, round 2 will last as long as the reviews have suggested

The looks and reputation of HOKAs are first rate. I received the SPEEDGOAT 5s and tried them on - wearing them in the house on our carpeting. They never felt comfortable in that they slipped around on my feet making me unsure of my footing while wearing them; I tried moving the top laces to the rearmost hole and that didn't solve my problem, so I had to return them.

Nowhere in checkout did it say that you cannot refund if using afterpay, I only found out after I tried to do a return that you can ONLY exchange for the same style, color, and width just different size. So if their size 15 doesn't fit you, good luck!

Bought this shoe for trail walking, hiking and running. In 3 weeks from purchase, the Vibram traction on the heel began separating from the sole. Shoe had been used less than 10 times only walking on gravel paths. Unfortunately, Hoka's would not exchange the shoes. It would need to be under the warranty policy which is a lengthy process. Meaning I would not have my newly bought shoes until I sent them back to Hoka, they were evaluated by their staff and then credit was issued, so I can order new shoes. Really defeats the whole purpose of buying new shoes when I have to wait to get my new replacement shoes to train. While I understand that manufacturing defects happen, I am very disappointed in Hoka's customer service and the fact they won't make it right for the customer.

I have balance issues and I tried walking in these and it was like walking on a boat in rough seas!!!! Never would have thought this but with the height of sole and that back part of sole that is slanted?!?! Why would you do that??? Well anyway they're cool looking but impossible to walk in. Thanks, Kevin

Husband wears a 10w in other Hokas. This shoe in a 10w was so narrow he could barely get the shoe on. Returned for another style.

My wife and I both purchased Speedgoat 5s in 2023 and both pairs failed in the same place (upper separates from the mid-sole). Mine lasted 2 months and my wife's lasted closer to 6 months. The Vibram also starts to unglue from the mid-sole way before the vibram wears out. Very comfortable shoes but Hoka needs to work on their durability.

I have order 5 pairs of shoes and 2 of them same style different colors and what makes no sense is the difference in fit. I'm not real happy with Hoka. I have another pair says it is running shoe but it has no stability.

I have been a Hoka fan for many years and many miles. I've logged well over 5,000 miles in Cliftons (multiple versions) and Speedgoat 4s. I have 2 pairs of Speedgoat 4 that lasted well over 400 miles on rocky/wet West Virginia & Virginia trails with what I would consider normal wear an tear.
Enter the Speedgoat 5... I wanted to love them. My first impression was much lighter, same Vibram sole I was used to. After my 1st run in wet & technical trails I began to lose confidence. The insole, which is much cheaper/thinner than the previous Speedgoat 4s slid around in the shoe causing blisters (actually replaced it with an insole from SG4). Within 200 miles the mesh upper started to tear from the foam midsole. After 250 miles the traction has worn to nubs.

Speedgoat 2 was my favorite shoe ever, after they finally gave in, I got a pair of speedgoat 5. After less than 200 km the upper fabric ripped where it attaches to the sole, leaving a 8cm hole and rendering the shoes useless.
Trying to return the shoes (bought at Bull Ski & kajakk) I was told that terrain shoes can't be expected to last very long since they get much more wear and tear than road running shoes. I guess that's Hoka specific, since all my VJ terrain shoes have lasted 1000km+.
