You need three things in a trail runner - lightweight, comfortable fit, great ventilation. The SpeedGoat5 has all of those. Grippy on loose trails, great support around your foot, dries fast when dry, keeps your feet cool and super lightweight. I love 'em!

Absolutely loves everything about these shoes. It's been a long time since a shoe fit and felt this perfect. I have to say that I was unsure I was going to like the look - but when I arrived and I got to see it I was very surprised on how great these look - colors, design - everything - gorgeous!!! 11/10 :)

Comfy shoe, but Vibram sole worn out after 50 miles of gentle walking in first month. Shoe looks new otherwise.

I have always worn Brooks and sizing conversion was right on. I really like the design/color. They are more comfortable than previous shoes.

Really like the shoe in all respects except rapid wear. At this price would expect the sole to last longer than 30 days / 50 miles! And this was gentle walking not hard trail running. Appears the Vibram rubber component is too soft for any length of use. Now I'll have to see if Hoka stands behind their products.

Some of my fellow Marines recommended these, even though at first glance I thought they were a long distance highly padded marathon shoe. I'm so glad I tried a pair on and gave them a chance.
I am mainly using the SG5 for mixed trail and concrete walking or light jogging. Years ago I used to consistently run 4 or 5 miles every other day, but these days I mainly wear these for comfort. I have a lot of joint issues and tendon issues and plantar fasciitis, but with these shoes I have noticed a great deal of improvement with my day to day symptoms and pain tolerance. I regularly walk 3 or 4 miles now with very little pain afterwards. Additionally, I wouldn't trade these shoes at all if I had to do an event or I was timing myself, they are as comfortable as they are capable- very light weight and springy. The padding is just right for me- neither too plush or too spartan as well.
As far as the comfort for jogging, etc, I compare these to a superior version of the first foam type shoes I started wearing back in 2013 - the brook's pureflow. No other shoe I have worn in 10 years has eclipsed that shoe, for my needs. I will be sticking with HOKA from here on. Only thing that I don't know right now is how long they will last, as I know foam tends to compress over time. So I bought two pairs to alternate. Compared to brooks (a size 13) they run a little big, or maybe brooke's is too big and HOKA runs true to size. Regardless I landed on a half size 12.5 that seems to be perfect.

Checks all of the boxes, including available in wide, except not GTX. The comparable GTX Hoka is not available in wide - that would be the ultimate. Love the sticky Megagrip sole.

I would like to start off by saying all the colors that these shoes come in are so beautiful. I love the wing tip heel, it makes the shoe look futuristic. The new tongue of the shoe blows my mind, very sexy and sleek. My one comment is I did exchange for the wide fit and honestly it still feels a little tight, and makes me feel off balance when running.

Using them for an Appalachian Trail thru hike and I'm a bigger guy. Been testing them with full pack and they are very comfortable and supportive. Will definitely buy another pair part way through the AT. I normally take a 13 but the 14 fit me great with thicker socks.

I have owned four pairs of speedgoats. My biggest issue was my toe popping through the fabric on the top of the shoe. Besides that the shoe is a great trail shoe. I currently have the gortex version and so far it is holding up better. But, tread and grip on the goat is exceptional. Paired with the cushioning of Hoka and the shoe is great for any one trail hiking or trail running.

I like the material and the light weight for trail walking. But the width is too narrow for my bunion on my left foot.

I purchased a pair SG 5s on Feb 12 2023 I have 260 miles PA hiking on them in a month. I will be doing a 45 mile hike in VA to finish them off. 300 miles is about the limit for them maybe 350. I would like to get 500 miles but that ain't happening! They're a great hiker for 300 miles. Understand that PA trails are hard on shoes because of rocks. Hence the term " Rocksylvaina"

I was excited about getting these. When I took them out of the box I could tell they were more narrow than the other styles. I had them on for 15 in my hour and my right root began to hurt because of them being to narrow.

Bought first Speedgoat 5 in 2022 in men's 9.5 D. Was a bit tight but made some adjustments and it worked. Broke foot Jan 2023 which resulted in some changes so bought the shoe again in men's 9.5 2E. Compared it to the Bondi 8 men's 9.5 2E I had just bought and it was about 3/8" shorter. Then compared it to the original Speedgoat and it also was about 3/8" shorter. Exchanged it for a men's 10 2E and it is the same length as my original Speedgoat and the Bondi 8 (the 9.5 size). The new Speedgoat is better for width but I would like to see it closer to the Bondi 8 where I have more room to wiggle my toes. I like the cushioning and the Vibram sole though my original Speedgoat tread is looking a bit more worn than I would like after 92 miles. So overall, I don't know if HOKA changed the last or the first size 10 was just a blip in the manufacturing.

I knew I needed one of the best running shoes out there because at 50 years old it is getting harder to keep running. I will now always buy these.

This is a different kind of athletic shoe. Great colors. Well made from advanced material. Lightweight but sturdy. Exceptional heel and arch support. For a wide it fits a bit tight. Probably asain sizing. Maybe go a half size larger. Great technical features. A bit pricey.

First pair of wide Hoka's and this made a great difference in fit and comfort. They feel wonderful. I broke them in on 26.2 mile trail run mostly through river sand terrain. I had no foot pain nor single blister anywhere on my foot after.

Great shoe, but I wish avocado color had a wide version. It's beautiful, but too narrow for me. I got another color in wide and it's perfect although I had to go half size up from my regular 11.5.

We are avid hikers, and we have been Hoka enthusiasts for years. These Speedgoats are excellent shoes, and I love the traction of the Vibram soles. The only problem that I have with Hoka shoes, is the sizing. I have been a 13 regular for ever, and now, even the wides are narrow, and the shoes are overall smaller. It's such a bummer because I could order any Hoka in size13, and know that they would fit perfectly. Now, it's a complete unknown.
