I was looking for some shoes to mitigate the soreness my feet were feeling after long hikes. 12-20 miles. I currently alternate between a pair of La Sportiva Ultra Raptor 4's and more recently, 5 finger v-treks (definitely love these). I'm OK going uphill, but the pressure and weight on my feet feel can feel unbearable. I'm not big either (130lbs). Not sure if it's 100% the insoles, but I decided I'd try the Hoka's since they looked like they had some huge cushioning. After 4+ hikes in these, I can definitely notice a difference insofar as discomfort. Wearing these on the way down are by and large, a huge improvement. I would even go so far to say that these are the best trail runners I've owned. All around, nearly perfect.

Good shoes. I really don't like spending time filling out these surveys. Other than that I have no complaints.

I have 2 pair of these shoes, 1Fiesta / Radiant Yellow and I just purchased Castlerock / Flame hoping for the darker color but it's more of a gray than black or charcoal. What happened to the Duffel bag / Thyme color? very disappointed in the color option. I wont buy again unless I see something along the line of the Duffel bag / Thyme color, and I will probably return the Castlerock/Flame. I purchased both pair at Road Runner Sports online and shipped to me.

I purchased 3 pairs of these for 2023 season art once. The uppers ripped apart within 200km of use...quality has dropped on Speed Goats each year.

Speed coat five I purchased is an awesome shoe comfortable, lightweight, and very supportive! The pricing of Hoka shoes is a little bit out of line as far as cost but I still ponied up and bought them

I would have preferred some more muted color options, but I can't argue with the fit, quality, or utility! I wanted some hikers that were light, breathable, supportive, grippy, and comfortable, and after searching and trying on multiple brands and styles, these were the winners. I have not been disappointed in my purchase.

this is my second pair of speedgoat 5. both have a problem with the right-side shoe. it feels like the arch is higher than the left. even with different inserts. don't know why but i am leaving in a week to walk the Camino de Santiago and don't have time to breaking a new pair so sticking to these.

After hearing my kids and wife rave about Hoka shoes, I bought a pair of Speedgoat 5's for our trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. I had an older pair of "heavier" hiking boots that just seemed old school and wanted to try something different. I'm 50+ with a problematic lower back and knee's that are not young anymore. After 4 days of hiking moderate trails in the park I loved these shoes. They were light and nimble. The cushioning was great and eased the pounding on my back and knees. About the only downfall was the stability while moving downhill on rocky terrain. Its a trail runner and not a boot (the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars). I'm only 5 hikes into the shoes, but so far I love them!

The speedgoat has improved dramatically it is lighter the cushioning is amazing. I'm a big hiker in Colorado and this shoe grips well on loose rock and steeps.

Had the Speedgoat 5 nfor about 2 weeks. Probably the most comfortable shoe I ever wore. Very satisficed. Only regret is that maybe I should of purchased the GTX (waterproof) model. I do a lot of my jogging /walking on trails and grass and the morning dew soaks the shoe. If there is away to better give my speedgoat 5's some better water residence I would like to know. Ootherwise.....a awesome shoe.

Have only one short 5 mile hike on them, but am VERY happy with the traction and comfort on varied surfaces here in Pawtuckaway State Park, NH. did not give 5 stars because not enough miles on them to go "all in" but hope they will earn their 5th star as I get more miles on them. For now great summer hiking shoe for me.

I've ran the Speedgoat 2,3,4 and 5. The 5 is a bit softer than previous versions. I returned the 5 and moved to the Mafate Speed 4 instead for this summer's training. They are not really the same shoe, but similar. The Mafate feels faster and more responsive (but still very cushioned) on steeper and rockier terrain than the Speedgoat 5. I think the Speedgoat is great for everyday training on trails though. I wear a 12 in most street shoes. Always a 12.5 in Speedgoats and running a 12 in the Mafate. Looking forward to see what Hoka does with the next iteration of the Speedgoat. I hope they make it more responsive and add some of that Mafate feel. I also hope they add more toe box room to both shoes.

First time buyer for Hoka shoes, seen other people wearing them and heard good things by word of mouth, wore them all day for first time and am very satisfied, I did find they seem to run small, would suggest ordering 1 size up,

I really wanted to love this shoe. It felt great while I was wearing it, it looked amazing, and I had heard nothing but wonderful things about HOKA. Unfortunately, I am an overpronator and I and a whopping 265 lbs. That combined with the foam-based heel and sole of this shoe did not make for a very supportive feeling. Even with my orthotics in, I still felt like I was turning my foot outwards.

I like the wide fit for my wide toe box, and the thick cushioning helps the knees. The main feature that is missing, and which should be required for any serious trail running shoe, is a velcro gaiter attachment in the rear. Otherwise, ankle gaiters won't stay on and snug, and dirt and pebbles just constantly make their way into the shoe. See Altra or Brooks for how this should be done. It also would be nice if there were a removable thin plate in the sole that you could use for particularly rocky/technical terrain, and remove for smoother dirt (again, see Altra).

Despite not having a version number change there were small updates to this shoe. For me, one major change made a significant difference. The heel cup is shallower and so with inserts my heel was lifting out of the shoe with every step and causing blisters, even with heel lock lacing. Without the insert it is fine but I don't get as much arch support. The other changes are slightly different laces and the tongue shape is different, but both of those did not make a significant fit or feel difference.

that skinny tongue. i would prefer a more traditional padded tongue. These tend to scrunch down as you put the shoe on which is slightly annoying. also the EE width fits more snugly than my Bondi EE's. I wished that were not so.

I have friends and coworkers that wear HOKA's and swear by them for all day comfort. I liked the style of these so that was my main driving force in selecting the Speedgoat 5. I am on my feet all day on flat, hard floors and have plantar fasciitis. These are awesome shoes. They do feel a little narrow but loosening the laces helped quite a bit. Longer laces would be nice since I had to loosen them. Perhaps going with the wide would have been better fit for me but I've bought wide in other shoe brands and ended up with them too loose.

The Speedgoat five feels less substantial and sturdy, when compared with the earlier models. I feel like my foot has less protection from rocky ground surfaces. The Speedgoat 5 is lighter and so I suspect to save weight, they sacrificed sturdiness, and most likely durability. The wide version of the shoe is still very comfortable and I like that it is easier to get on and off, no longer requiring a loop at the heel. I did prefer the Speedgoat 4
