This was my first Hoka purchase, done at the suggestion of my Podiatrist. The cushioning was terrific but my tibias tendinitis flared up because the toe box was too narrow and compressed the top of my foot. I returned them and am now trying the Bondi in a 4e width.

Fit and size fine (I normally get a size larger). Disappointed in their shock absorbing (not as cushy) unlike my old Graviota 2's. Borderline acceptable to me. Will not buy these again.

Love Hoka.....have bought numerous shoes in different. Bought this one thinking it's higher price would assure comfort, and it had a nice blue color I liked. The more I wore them the more the outside of my right foot started to ache. Going to return and try to find a shoe I've had previous success with.

Very comfortable running but length a little short as others have mentioned. Got blackened toenails and have not had that problem in decades. However, the most frustrating part is I have never had shoelaces that come untied as much as with this pair. I have to double knot them and then stick the loops and lace ends under the crisscrossed laces to hold in place. Even when doing this, they still sometimes untie as I run.

I have some shin splint issues and they do really well with that. My only issue is the build quality. The back strap on the heel broke pretty quickly and I've gotten a hole in the front of the toes in just a few months. Also don't trust their sizing between various brands. I went with a 10 when I normally wear a 10.5-11 (because that's what it told me to do) and it didn't really work out. It's a shame because they feel so good on my joints/shins when I run.

Walking around the office these shoes do not hurt my feet, but after my first 2-mile fast pace walk the bottom outside of my right foot was starting to blister. It is only the right shoe, I have not had issues with sizing between my feet, but it feels like the right shoe is larger than the left.

The toe box of this show seemed short and narrow compared to my Bondis of the same size. I loved the show but my toes rubbed the front and side when I walked for a while.

Definitely smaller then any of my other men’s 8.5 Hoka shoes. Would definitely try them on somewhere before buying them.

I bought Hoka shoes at the recommendation of my orthopedist for my metatarsal issues. I got these particular shoes because because the website stated they were the most supportive and comfortable. I purchased 12 wides as my foot issues were brought on by wearing shoes that were too narrow which lead me to find out I had wide feet. Despite this the shoes were not wide enough at all, and the support arch of solid rubber was killing my arch, leaving bruises, and the insoles were avery thin causing discomfort to my soles and metatarsals. I thought perhaps the shoes were just rigid but after wearing them for a few days to break them in I found that it was simply the shoes are not suited to my feet. I can tell that the shoes would be pretty good if they were correctly shaped to fit my feet, and there was a nice springy-ness in them when walking. I ended up getting some in soles to replace the stock ones that had a plastic guard for the arches and provided cushioning and this has remedied my issues so far. So 3 stars for being a decent base , they just required better soles (and a guard for the monster rubber arch in the sole) as the included ones are very poor.

Hoka rep said the Gaviota was just like the Bondi...only with more stability. I found them to be more narrow in the toe, a bit shorter and not nearly as much cushion. I returned them.

I absolutely loved the look of this shoe and I wanted so badly for it to work, but it was just too narrow. You can tell from the pictures that this shoe tapers a bit toward the toe. My feet are not super wide, but my pinky toe was poking the side of the shoe. Not only does that create a comfort issue, but it would likely wear a hole over time. To be fair, I did not try a wide width in this shoe. I ended up going with the Hoka Bondi 8 and found my new favorite shoes. As always, Zappos delivery and customer service were fantastic.

This shoe was true to size, and was for me very comfortable. In comparison with other brands I have worn for years: Asics, New Balance principally, this shoe is showing excessive sole wear after 50-60 miles. I am considering returning these shoes after only 2 weeks.

Does not provide as much relief for my forefoot pain while running as the first Hoka shoes I purchased years ago. Not as much forefoot padding.

I have owned Gaviota 1, 2 & 3 models. This latest "upgrade" is terrible! The sole is stiff & does not provide the plush cushion I have grown to love. Please: don't fix what's not broken!!!

The cushioning and stability wasn't as good as I was hoping. Traction has also been an issue.

I purchased 92E Bondi 8s to help me with a heel problem, as recommended by a podiatrist. I am so happy with the bondis that I thought I would purchase another hoka with even more support. However, I was very disappointed after receiving the gaviota 4s when, even though they were 92Es just like the bondis, their fit was significantly smaller. Go figure...

Not as cushioned as the Biondi 7 shoes I have. Is designed to combat overpronation so if you are a heel striker you may not like these, they will push your foot to roll outwards. For just normal daily wear they are very comfortable.

I am a heavy runner (265 lbs), so something supportive and cushioned sounded awesome for my knees as I picked up my walking and running activities. I was not wrong this shoe definitely helped with me knee pain and the rocker really helps you move quicker when walking. The only downside and ultimate reasoning behind my not recommending this to other people is due to the outsole coming apart. I know this has occured to atleast one other person (As I recommended Hokas to them). Both of us are heavier and both of us have experienced this since, basically the first run, we didnt return as we thought maybe the road was rough and that the outsole wouldn't continue doing it. We were wrong, and while the shoe is great I cannot recommend someone spend almost 200 bucks on something that literally falls apart. All in all great job on comfort and stability, I just need my money to go a bit further (I have tried 4 times to submit this review with the pictures and each time I wait like 5 - 10 minutes for the screenshot to load) then submit and it says please review the field below and there are none lolol so I have to start review all over again, so I am testing without a screenshot)

I'm an old guy, 74 years old, with sore feet. I had hoped these shoes would be the salvation! At first I was disappointed - the much less expensive Sketchers with memory foam insoles were better for my feet right off the rack, but needed replacing within 6 months. I wore my hoka's for a couple of weeks, and they aren't terrible - I'm going to give them a try instead of returning them.
