I did have to return my first pair for half a size larger which I have never had to do in all my years of running. Nevertheless, the second pair were comfortable. The main issue is the laces. You have to consciously tie your laces. If not your laces will become untied as you are running. I over-pronate so I was looking for a shoe that offered stability. In that regard, I have been satisfied but I have not tried running on pavement at this point. In terms of construction, quality and style, I will give the shoe an A plus.

I love the look and support of the shoe but it didn't last 30 days. The black rubber on the bottom of the shoe peeled off. The shoes help my health so much I had to order another pair to get me by until the replacements get sent back to me.

I work in in a hospital and on my feet constantly. These shoes are very comfortable. I switch them with a pair of Bondi7s.

Lots of cushion. Toes are right at the end of shoe. Ordered online. Wish I could have tried a half size larger to check the fit.

I'm a bigger runner (6'3" 240lbs) w/big feet (15 is) and these are very comfortable and light for their size.

I bought these due to ankle stability problems and have been very satisfied with both the stability and comfort of the shoe. I am a bit disappointed after two weeks of only in house and a occasional walk outside the toe sole is starting to come apart from the shoe. For a nearly $200 product was hoping for better quality. Other than that very satisfied with this purchase.

These are super comfy, with a really nice ride, but they did not provide enough stability for me and my duck feet. I could really feel my left foot rolling inward, and the outside of my big toe on that foot was sore. I would never have known this without using the shoes for several miles. Thankfully, you can DO this with Hoka. Love, love, love Hoka and their 30 Day No Matter What guarantee. Returns are easy.

Love the shoes. Have bought several over the years. 1st time had a problem. Parts of the tread keeps coming apart and have to glue to back on. Happened 4 times.

I prefer a soft and cushioned shoe. So I love the Hoka fit , but I wouldn't buy these again.

I am a men's 10.5 with high arches and a narrow foot. Usually wear cushioned shoes (Bondi), but the Gaviota also works well since I don't need a lot of stability. The shoe fits very well on my foot, but would be a problem for wider feet (would need the wide version). Definite improvement from the prior version, cushioning is excellent, shoe is comfortable and protective, especially in the forefoot where I need it. My left shoe has a defective tongue which is sewn in about 1/2" short compared to the right shoe. Since Hoka shoes have what I would consider short tongues to begin with, this makes it ride down under the laces which could produce a hot spot on longer runs. I am very careful about how I tie them due to this. Just another issue all runners have to deal with on shoes from time-to-time...good overall.

I really like the shoes, but the lasses constantly come undone. This is a problem.

After some 10 pairs of Gaviota's, I can say that almost all come out of the box with glue failure to part of the tread, typically on the triangle apices along the sides. This is more of a nuisance than a problem, but for the price, Hoka could improve their quality control and get the glue deal figured out. I routinely break out the super glue and fix the problem with each new pair. Otherwise I wear this shoe on a daily basis in a medical clinic. Lots of doctors, NP's, and RN's are wearing Hoka's, since we are on our feet on concrete all day.

After about 50ish miles I noticed excessive wear pattern on heel strike and toe area of the sole of the shoe. I apreciate the cushion, support, and stability of the shoe. I just wish those common wear areas would be made of a little longer lasting material.

I have flat feet and wear arch supports. I have been using them on daily walks with the dog. Between 1 and 2 miles a day depending on the route I take that day. These shoes work great with the supports. They do tend to make the shoe feel a bit narrower and end up pushing my toes together. They wear in though and I don't really have issues with them. My only real complaint is that for some reason the laces will not stay tied. I've tried a few different things and in the end of I want to keep them tied I end up double knotting. I will probably end up buying a different set of laces soon. Overall very happy with them and wouldn't hesitate buying again.

I really love the shoes, but they don't feel as squishy as my other pair is, even though they are advertised as being squishiest. Thoughts?

The toe box being widened is really great, I could use it a touch wider even. The shoes really encourage more of a toe strike which is nice as I can crush my heels a bit in the more rocking style of the Bondi Hokas. The Gaviota are supremely stable but compared to the Bondi, they feel a bit too stiff for me. I still love the Gaviota but would like them to be plusher and leave the stiffness to the Arahi.

These shoes look good and for the most part feel good. They didn't help my lower back pain like the Bondi 7 does. My feet also felt tired and sore after wearing them for about an hour. They don't have near as much bounce or "shock absorption" as Bondi 7.

Returning because the tongue on the left shoe would not center (it leans to the inside). When I try to pull it back to center, it returns to the inside of the shoe. I am buying these to replace the same size and model of shoe (men's 10.5, Gaviota 4) so it is easy to tell the problem.
I'd also recommend:

It was confusing that it said "D" width and medium. I thought D" was for wide so I am sorry but I have to return it as it is too narrow for me.

I called customer service and was assured that these shoes would fit like the Arahi 5. They do not.......much tighter across the top of the foot. I had to send them back.
