I never got comfortable wearing this shoe. I'm sure it was my feet not the shoe. Felt too small and very tight on top of my foot

I got a size bigger and still very uncomfortable, giving it time to break in, so far not worth it for the price,,,

I'm on my feet at my job and because of a recommendation from my son I thought I would give HOKA a try. To be honest with you I don't feel they are any better than the Sketcher's I have been wearing. The HOKA's are more expensive and I'm not sure I will buy another pair.

Toe box is too narrow. Foot does not slide in as easy. Shoe laces feel cheap and do not lace up like the Gaviota 3. Too cushy. Will probably return these.

I bought for my brother but it pushed up against his arch too much and then started to make his hips hurt. He is very very tough to buy a shoe for. However, my other brother has these shoes and really likes them

The first pair of Hoka shoes I purchased were the Bondi 8 and they were AMAZING!!! This shoe is not as comfortable as the Bondi . I was expecting the same level of cushioning and comfort but definitely not the case . The shoe is made nicely and looks good but in no way can compare to the cushioning and comfort of the Bondi 8 . So , I'll stick with the Bondi 8 for future purchases.

While I like the shoe there seems to be a couple shortcomings. The heel or shoe itself is much stiffer than my previous Bondi 8. The left foot insert always seems like it is rolling on the inside. The shoelaces are ones that are continuing to loosen even when double knowing. Way too early to tell about how well the shoe will hold.

While the cushioning is superior, the toe box is claustrophobic and squeezes my toes. The online sizing guide is inaccurate and misleading. HOKA said it would match my Keen's fit but it's not even close. Now I have to return the Hokas and pay for shipping! Go fig ya?!

Ordered three different models to try, this one ran a half size smaller than the other same sized pairs I tried and ran a bit narrower.

The toes box of these is more narrow than expected even w a wide. I returned the women's wide bc it was too tight in the toes and ordered them in men's. Better room wise, but certainly an adjustment from the Bondi 7's that I have loved for years now.
Would only recommend to someone who has a narrow foot.
Let's do better for runners please Hoka :)

I bought a Gaviota 4 shoe after my Stinson's did not work out. The Gaviota 4 is more comfortable than the Stinson, but the first time I put them on, the pull tab on the left shoe ripped off. I was not pulling that hard. I feel that a pull tab should be strong enough to be used as a pull tab. The Gaviota's in general are comfortable to wear, but I swear the left shoe has less cushion in the heel than the right shoe. I am trying to wear them long enough to make sure its not my imagination. No, I don't think so, the left shoe is definitely "more flat" in the heel area than the right shoe. I will probably return them soon, as for the price, this level of quality is not acceptable.

Great shoe BUT Hoka again limits the color choices for the EE size shoe. They are always out of stock or not available???

I absolutely love how comfortable these are. Would have rated a 5, but I haven't had them very long and the inside of the back of the shoe is breaking down, making them hard to continue to wear because of the rub. The inside has worn the protection cover and you can feel the structure of the shoe coming through. These were by far my favorite Hokas, but concerned with the quality. Over all would recommend Hoka, this pair has been disappointing. Its possible this pair is defective.

I bought these shoes based on reviews. 6'4" - 250 active and dealing with plantar fasciitis for the first time the last few months. Based on some reviews I was lead to believe these shoes were like walking on clouds. I have bought and worn a lot of shoes and didn't find these particularly a stand out versus anything I've worn before. Certainly didn't meet or exceed my expectations. Comfortable and well build, not the most soft thing I've felt. Felt like a decent pair of running shoes. These are true to size.

The shoes are very comfortable. However, any time I wear them for more than a 30 minute run, I get a horrible blister on the inside of my heel. Never had that issue with my previous Hoka's or any other shoes.

I have or have had the Gaviota 1, 2, 3 and now 4. First off the EE is not EE. This shoe is narrow and poorly built compared to the previous models. The full mesh top is starting to look like the reason I left new balance, it is not as durable as previous models. And what is up with the ugly colors for mens? Can we get something a bit more colorful than boring grey and black. I have the royal blue, but that is the only one that actually looks good. The others look like what you see left over on shelves that don't sell because they are ugly. How about some red on them?? Again if you are going to make a wide, make it wide like the previous models, this one is lacking in support in the wide. Until then I will be looking elsewhere. Keep in mind I bought the Gaviota 4 for my entire staff at my practice..they loved them, well not be upgrading them until you fix these

I bought this style because you were out of the Bondi 8 wide.
I put in the information for what my feet needed and recommended this style.

This is my second pair of these Gaviota's in the same size in the past year..( we have 5 pairs of Hoka's between my wife and I ).
I loved the last pair of of all black Gaviotas I bought, and the ones before that ..We walk about 5.5 miles in steep hills ,daily besides wearing them to the gym and after wearing only top end Nike's for many years these Gaviota's have been the best shoes I have ever owned. But..this new pair of black with white soles Gaviota's felt different right out of the box..they do not fit or cushion as well and they cause hot spots and fatigue in my feet ., they feel like an entirely different shoe..so much so that I find myself wearing my old pair of same size Gaviota's that have many miles on them and are breaking down and are wearing out the soles..but still better shoes. I don't know if they changed the rubber compound , or wheather I got a pair maid on Friday afternoon..or what, but I probably wont buy another pair..these new ones are killing my feet.
