Liked the weight but not overall structural integrity.

Too snug of a fit in my opinion. Lot of pulling to get foot into shoe. Once on they fit right just didn't like the tight opening with no tongue.

There is a transition at the ankle from the piping fabric of the heel collar to the fabric of the tongue that can protrude and rub against the ankle. It was more pronounced on the right shoe than the left. I’m not sure if it’s a quality consistency issue, but I returned the shoe and went for another Hoka style that didn’t have that transition as the cushioning and stability of the shoe is exactly what I was needing.

Purchased on liking colour skim however the shoe doesn't wear easily as my other Hoka. Have difficulty in slipping it on and feel the same fit on my feet.

While I I've the color and style. The fit is a bit tight for a running shoe. I recommend it for every day wear and not for running of any kind.

I have had this pair of shoe for 3 months, running 30-35 miles a week, as expected the shoes wore down. Unfortunately, the shoe felt somewhat unstable and made it easy to supinate my foot strike. Maybe this is just because I strike with my forefoot. My teammate, who heel strikes, has no problem with this shoe. My verdict, not for runners who forefoot strike.

I bought these having high expectations on the brand but this particular shoe doesn't fit well. The mesh isn't as tight as it could be and bunches in parts, making it uncomfortable and allowing my heal move up from the sole considerably when running.

These are first with extended heel. Love the support and comfort cushion in the shoe. But they feel clunky to me with the extended heel. wearing more so hoping the feel will adjust over time.

I'm a devoted Hoka guy, but the latest Carbon X is a disappointment and I far prefer the previous iteration. The lacing system feels really cheap and tight. It's much harder to lace and thus doesn't fit as well. The new mesh upper doesn't seem to fit as well as earlier versions either.

I run daily, but in limited miles. I have tried the latest Bondi, Clifton, Mach and now the Carbon X3 and for me the Carbon X 3 is the best of the bunch. It has a very good balance of cushioning and bounce or rebound. However, the Carbon X3 has some quirks that bug me and one that hurts.
1- Color themes aren't ideal. I like black and white running shoes and I don't care for the half white design of the Carbon X3. The white side constantly gets dirty and it pisses me off. I guess Hoka thought that they are offering a premium look, but it does not work for me.
2- The shoelaces keep opening mid run. I did call Hoka about this, and they said they can't send just shoelaces.
3- The upper part is one piece, hence it has no gusseted tongue, it makes the shoes harder to put on, I am forced to use a shoehorn.
4- This same no gusseted tongue upper is hurting the top of my toe box. It's scratching my skin. I am now forced to use bandaid under the socks before putting on the shoes.
5- The toe box is a bit too big. The toe box on the Mach 4 was great.

Shoes are ok, light weight, cool style. Just too expensive for what you get

I love HOKA and was excited about moving from the Clifton to the X3. I like the shoe but am not a fan of the lacing setup. Since there is no tongue, the laces rub against my foot. For some reason it bothers me on one foot more than the other and I find myself reverting to my Cliftons because of it.

is the size 10.5D? I ordered 10.5 and it came with that letter, it's too big for me, I'm 5 years old wearing the same size and I don't know why they sent size D

First, the shoe I bought was not well advertised. In the pictures, it looks like a black shoe with a white sole. I received a show that was half black and half white. I would not have purchased a shoe like that. The pictures did not properly portray the design.
Second, these shoes run long and thin. I should have gotten a size smaller if there was a wider option.

Feels too tight and I agree with some of the reviewers about how these shoes squeeze your feet. No benefit of having laces, just for design.
My initial impression- you need a massager with it. after wearing a week was a little comfortable but still not happy so decided to replace it. Looking forward to having a replacement at this time.

Did like the previous version with a normal tongue better.
The sock material irritates the area under my ankle on my long runs.

I dont understand why shoe companies feel the urge to completely change a shoe in a new generation. The new upper on the X3 is not comfortable for several reasons:
1. The new fabric upper is not a comfortable material. Its probably more durable, but its a more coarse and rigid material, unlike the X2 which was very flexible.
2. The change in how this shoe laces removes (fewer lace points), which really stinks. I could not get a comfortable or even tension across the top of the shoe.
3. The tongue was replaced with a solid upper, which coupled with the new lace layout causes the area around the foot insert to be impossible to get comfortable. Its either cutting off circulation to your foot or too loose.
Returning my pair of X3 and searching for all the X2 pairs I can

I couldn't wait to get these shoes and when I got them, I was so disappointed. I couldn't even get my foot in it. The opening was too narrow, and it was also a stain on the side of one of the sneakers so I sent them back, unfortunately

Admitting I am an older runner at age 69. Most of my runs are between 2-6 miles with paces between under an 8:30 mile pace to slower days at under a 10 mile pace a few times a week. I wanted to get a little more spring in my step and the Carbon X3 offers that opportunity. I am a normal size 10 meaning I do not need a wide width unless the shoes run a bit narrow.
Based on that information the comfort of the Carbon X3 was great. The cushion and toe box was excellent! I had an issue with the fit around the ankle. The edge of the shoe pushes up on the distal part of the lateral malleolus on both feet causing discomfort. In spite of this issue, I did a 2 mile run at about an 8:26 mile average. The run felt good, however both malleolus were sore due to the friction. I also noticed my heel lifted just a bit when running. This is a problem, because the heel needs to stable in the shoe for the carbon plate to be useful. Even with this issue the carbon plate did add some spring to my step and I enjoyed the run. I decided to add an extra Hoka flat insole liner in each Carbon X3 shoe to see if that would life my foot up enough for my malleolus to clear the edge of the shoe even though it defeats the purpose of a light running shoe. It help a little bit, but could use a little more space. I then tried using clips when not wearing the shoes to stretch the side of the shoe down and allow space for my malleolus. It help a little bit, but still and issue. I also tried thicker socks.
Now the issue of the heel slipping up. I decided to use a locking lace to create a more snug fit at the top keeping the heel set in place so I could the full use of the carbon plate. A problem came up when I noticed the tongue is totally attached to the shoe preventing a locking stitch at the top of the shoe without making an extra hole in the tongue. This was a total disaster for me and cause me to return the shoes.

Had fairly high hopes for Carbon X as low budget carbon shoe. Very disappointed. Shoe is sluggish and did not offer the energy return I desired. Even picking up the pace (7:10 mile for 10K), my legs and the carbon x felt heavy. Since they were on sale and fit my narrow foot fairly well., I'll keep them for gym and cross-training shoe. For me, the NB Super comp elite or Saucony endorphin are better carbon shoes.

great comfort, difficult to put-on, pull-on tabs should be on the heal not on the tongue. I should have looked closer.
