Loved everything about this blanket; just wished it came in a bigger size!

I purchased two blankets, one large and one medium. First let me say the quality, pattern and color are fantastic. The blankets look and feel great, the medium fits a chair nicely. Unfortunately, the large is way too short to cover a standard couch. It would need to be another two - three feet in length. I was very disappointed. To resolve the shortage, I placed pillows on either side of the blanket in hopes of encouraging my shepherd to lay herself on the blanket. Kind of worked, her head goes on the pillow and her body on the blanket. Would I buy again, most likely not.

This blanket is way smaller than it used to be. Please, LLBean, make a larger version of this!
I bought an earlier version of this blanket probably 18 years ago for our first dog. It's still in fantastic shape and we're using it for our new dog. But I need another one so I bought the large. It is A LOT smaller -- like half the size -- than the one I have, and than what I need/want. I should've measured but I assumed it would be the same size. So disappointed. Sent it back.
But if you need a blanket for a small dog, the large is perfect. Please LLBean, make an XL size. :)

I bought the Large, and while I am happy with it, I wish it were larger. Could we have a couch-length one for dogs who think that the living room couch is actually a dedicated dog bed?

I purchased the LL Bean dog blanket for the back of my car, so far it is holding up great. I like that it has a soft side, but also a more durable side that could easily shed mud, snow, etc. The quality seems fine, though I haven't washed it yet.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was for the sizing available. I ordered a large (there is no XL) and had hoped it would be bigger.

A very nice blanket that I'm sure I'll still be glad to have, but my young German Shorthaired Pointer chewed the end off within ten minutes. She was very attracted to the edging and focused her attention there immediately. I still think it's a good choice as these blankets go- there is a nice weight to it and the plaid side is soft. After reading other reviews, I had simply hoped for more resistance to this kind of wear. So beware is all- it's not indestructible.

I ordered this blanket for my 45 pound lab puppy. It is super cute and warm and looks rugged enough to handle an active puppy who sometimes digs in her bed. However, I was not pleased that the "large" blanket is really not that large and my puppy will likely outgrow it. In addition, I had my pup's name monogrammed on the blanket in the color that was recommended online. The color is so light it blends in with the blanket and you can barely see it. I would recommend a darker color that contrasts better to avoid the washed out look I got.

I have a LL Bean round dog bed in the Night color so I thought a blanket to compliment would be a good purchase. The blanket is fine in quality. I requested that the blanket be monogrammed, expecting the monogramming to be on the Night color sign not the fleece side. Very disappointed in the placement of the monogramming.

Blanket is high quality but for the second time the Dogs name was embroidered on the wrong side!

This is the 5th dog blanket I have purchased. Over the years the quality has changed and not for the good but that is not my complaint..
On the website the charge was $99. The tag on the item I received is $89.
That's just not right

This product is well made, but significantly smaller than the past version. The old pad covered our loveseat with ample extra for tucking in sides and back to keep it in place. With this version I would need two (at around $100 each) to protect the loveseat. I wish I had checked the dimensions prior to purchase, but I made the mistake of assuming that the "large" pad was identical to my past purchase. It slides around with the dogs movements and exposes the loveseat to their scratches as they jump on and off. It appears that LL Bean has joined the "shrinkflation" movement. I would have rather paid more for a product identical to the former version.

"Large" is quite a bold description for something so small

I bought the large size Rugged Quilted Dog blanket to replace one that we had for several years and multiple dogs. Wanted to use it to cover the dogs' favorite couch, which I will, but I am disappointed that it is significantly smaller than the old one, which covered the couch from end to end, with room to tuck in the back and sides, and an overlap in the front. I will keep it because I need it while I look for something else. We have been llbean customers for forty years, and this is the first time I have written a negative review.

A few years past I purchased two dog blankets which are slightly larger and slightly more rugged than what is now available. That was disappointing to me. Loved the original ones.

Extremely well made and durable. Just too small. Would purchase several more if came in a larger size.

I am so disappointed. I have purchased these "mats" for years.
I have a few dogs and use them in several areas of my home. I loved them so much that I have holes on the bottoms of several of them because I wash them so much. I bought 2 new ones.
One a year or two ago and now one a couple of weeks ago. They are about 30% smaller. I buy the "large" one's " and I even took a picture to show the difference in size from the previous ones.

This is not a durable as I thought. My dog hasn't caused damage on any other dog bed and somehow there are two small holes on this one week in.

Have been buying a version of this "large" dog blanket for years-this version is smaller, lighter & not nearly the same quality for the same money-disappointed I was at the Freeport store Oct 2019 and the good quality dog blanket was there then Are the larger, heavier ones coming back?

I've had 5 of these blankets for 5 dogs over the years. They wear like iron, and the dogs love them. The blankets always outlast the dogs. I've had every one monogrammed with the dogs name. All of my dogs have preferred the blankets fleece side up. The first 4 blankets, when placed fleece side up, had the name spelled correctly fleece side up. The blanket I just ordered came so that the name is spelled backward when it's placed fleece side up. It looks correct when it's corduroy side up. I need the blanket, as I train my dogs to go to their blanket on command as kind of a home base so I won't be returning it ( have 3 dogs & 3 llbean blankets). Don't know when Bean started doing this, but just be prepared if your dogs like their blanket fleece side up to look at their name backwards. I didn't see anything in the monogramming instructions asking me which way I wanted it...maybe I missed something...IDK.

This blanket is nice, but if your dog likes to chew/rip seams it might not last long. I've had better luck giving my dog simple fleece blankets - because there are less seams my dog is less interesting in chewing them up.

Disappointed about 5 or so years ago I bought good quality thick quilted dog blankets that were well made. not sure where you got these but they aren't up to LLB standards.

A long time ago I bought this item (or so I thought it was the same item) for a dog I had. It was thick and luxurious and a great size. In fact, I buried the dog I bought it for wrapped in this blanket. Fast forward about 10 years, I went to get another one for my current dog. I ordered a large and it was 70 dollars. The same color was not available, but I ordered the available color in a large size. When it came, I noticed it was not the same quality as the first one. It was also pretty small for a 'large". Its ok, but its not as heavy luxurious as I had expected. It was pricey for what it ended up being.

Twenty-two years ago I purchased one XXL, and two XL dog blankets and two XXL dog bed covers and two XL dog bed covers. They look almost like new except for the occasional chewed corner. Two of the blankets had a denim bottom, the others a nice cotton twill bottom. The fleece on top is still thicker and softer than this newer version. I have washed and dried these blankets every other week for twenty-two years. The newer version doesn't fold well because the material is too stiff. The large is so small that our German Shepherd puppy has already outgrown it. But, I would purchase again if the XXL and XL sizes came back. The XXL was perfect for covering the sofa and a twin size bed.
