Probably the most massive midsole in the trail realm. I think more than Stinson ATR. I found the midsole fun on flats and any degree of downhill. The massive stack takes the hits on steeper faster downhills. The midsole is not crash pad soft like Stinson.... Caldera more lively and rebounds much more quickly. However - midsole at fore foot is too stiff for any efficient climbing. Knobbies working fine in dry dusty trail conditions. I laced all the way up to top lace - I do so for all max trail shoes - heel compartment secure and no collar rubbing. Tongue just long enough with top eyelet in use and does not migrate around. Midfoot felt secure and my foot felt secure on down hill mild tech single track. Toe box feels narrow and not enough height. Dumb hard plastic toe bumper stuff going on - no fun. When trying to climb with these units, and on downhills, I'm thinking too much about the tightness of the toe box - the upper material presses against my skin too much. I use this shoe as approach shoe for trail work. Shoe is MUCH less squirly compared to previous Calderas. My every day trail shoe right now = New Balance More 3 (road) .

It fits true size and the material is durable and sturdy. I mostly like the color and design. The heel is platform so that'sa big plus for me.

I've had the Caldera's 2.5 months and put 230 miles on them. I'm 6'4" 225 lbs 69 years old and have had both knees replaced and both ankles rebuilt. The cushioning is outstanding as I've had no issues with swollen knees or shin splints. I'm training for a 14 mile trail run and just ordered another pair to replace my Keens. I did size up 1/2 size as I like more room in the toe box but that's my personal preference. My only negative is the uppers feel cheap and don't offer the support of my other trail shoes.

I have been on a quest to find a shoe that works just right for me. I have been through 4 different brands and pairs before I landed on these. I recently signed up for my first 100K Ultra Run "The Tushars Mountain Run" which had over 18K feet of elevation gain over 65 miles. I used these shoes for this run and I couldn't help but notice how good my feet felt for the entire day of running. I went the full run without getting a blister. I know that as soon as this pair wears out I will be buying another pair. These shoes are awesome, and I would highly recommended for anyone!

I love these shoes. I am a 6' 225lb 55yo male coming back from a long layoff from running. Was looking for a shoe to run on dirt road and flat trail. Was hoping for a nice combo of support, cushion, and spring. I think this shoe hit that mark perfectly. I haven't tried them on technical trail at all. I think they would be fine, but not really designed for that. Has a thicker sole which may make them feel less responsive to some. Wouldn't change a thing.

I have about 70 walking miles on these. I'm a big guy. My last pair of max cushioning shoes lasted 60 miles. The ride of the Caldera is soft albeit a bit removed from the terrain. That said, I haven't had issues slipping or feeling unstable. I don't mind the plush ride as I have bad feet and am please with the comfort. Without the cushioning of the Caldera, I would not be able to get out and hike. Now, if they'd make a waterproof version, I'd be super happy. Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality and performance of these trail runners.

I have flat feet and as I got older, lots of problems with back, leg and knee pain. I never really accepted that fact that my feet was the cause of all my problems until I started traveling. The long walks killed me! When I got home, I researched the best walking shoes and Brooks name always came up as one of the best. I first ordered the Glycerin GTS and loved it, ordered the Adrenaline GTS and loved that, then I wanted a trail shoe and ordered the Caldera 6. I have to tell you, this shoe ROCKs! It is like being supported and cushioned on outboards. I can't say enough about the Brooks shoes, love all the models I bought and so very happy I discovered Brooks.

I've been a runner for over 40 years and have run in Brooks for the last 15. I started running trails about 10 years ago and switched from Glycerin to Cascadia as the trails were tearing up my shoes in 6 weeks (very rough pumice like surface). I'm moved and now running on less abrasive trails. I can tell when my shoes are done as my right calf/achillies starts bothering me. This happened last month and I decided to use the Brooks shoe selection app to see my options, it gave me Cascadia and Caldera as choices. I decided to try the Caldera and I absolutely loved them from the first steps. They offer excellent stability and cushioning and are very comfortable to run in. Couldn't be happier. May have found the best shoe I've ever run in.

11 mile run on trail conditions with rocks, tree roots, stream crossings and uneven footing. shoes were awesome from start to finish, feet felt great after and had 0 issues on trail. They also dried fast after running in water.

I've been a Hoka fan and wearer for years but wanted to try something else. The Caldera is a great shoe (I now own 3 pairs) for walking and wearing around town. I wear them all day and my feet feel great at the end of the day.

Good stability and soft foot bed. I've used them several times and were comfortable out of the box. Bought a second pair which I plan on using for my Grand Canyon trip.
